  • I have one pet and no kids, so I have the time to make this homemade dog food recipe that is approved by her vet and I really enjoy doing so! If you’ve ever wanted to make your furry friend some delicious homemade food, this is Meadow’s favorite recipe I’ve made for her so far! It’s nutritious and delicious (I assume, I haven’t actually tried it myself, although it is safe for human consumption 🤣). If you make homemade food for your dog, please let me know in the comments what ingredients you include in your recipe!
    Thank you for watching, I appreciate you! Take care and see you next week!

    We use lentils instead of rice, chickpeas can also be used. Still new to homemade dogfood and trying to figure out the correct portion size. Thanks for the video.

    This is a pretty Good recipe except the ratios are off. I’ve been doing this for over 6 months now. So if you follow any pet nutritionist the ratio must be 80% meat. Also You should use less rice and use more vegetables instead, like sweet Potato. 😊

      Thanks for the info! I have significantly increased the amount of meat since filming this and replaced rice with quinoa and added in sweet potato, celery, and green beans in addition to the peas and carrots already in there. Maybe I’ll make an updated video soon! Appreciate you watching and commenting!

    Lovely recipe! I do similar for my dog. Instead of draining the carrot and peas water, I use that water to cook the grains. You may want to try Quinoa. It's easy to cook and digests well and is low in carbs. Thanks for sharing your recipe! Your dog is so cute :))

      Can you tell me how much your dog weights and do you give 1 1/2 cups 2 times a day. Thank you. I also use quinoa, no peas, hard to digest. Use green beans instead. Nice video. Thank you.?

    Love your video. Meadow is soooo cute!! I’ve been making homemade dog food too. I leave out the rice and use sweet potatoes and pumpkin puree. I use liver, dark meat chicken, and either ground turkey or ground beef. I add a calcium supplement and bone broth powder for dogs. I cook everything in an electric pressure cooker and mash it together. I make a large batch and freeze it. My dog is about 8-10 pounds, so she doesn’t eat much!! your video.

      Thank you for sharing, I’ll have to try sweet potato and pumpkin puree next time, I’m sure Meadow would love it! I really appreciate you watching and commenting ❤️

      @@chez_clio I forgot to add that I put vegetables in too. Usually carrots, spinach and anything else I have around the house.

    Ive been wanting to try homemade dog food & your video gave me some good ideas! Also just wanted to mention her water bowl looks like it might be a lead crystal bowl. This can leach lead into her drinkg water which is very toxic if it is in fact thats what it is. Just wanted to mention as I dont want your pup to get sick 😢

    • @chez_clio

      Oh no, I just thought it was glass and didn’t realize it could be lead crystal. Yikes, I’ll switch it out right away, thank you for looking out for us! I hope your doggie loves the food you make, take care!

      And it certainly might just be glass. Sometimes older vintage pieces are more to be concerned about. You can google how to tell the difference b/w glass & lead crystal as it was something I recently learned about too.

      Thank you! Meadow weighs 35 pounds so she gets approximately 1 1/4 cups twice a day, or a total of 2 1/2 cups per day 🙂

    Unfortunately dogs cannot process white rice as it’s a carb. Use sweet potato or pumpkin

    • @chez_clio
      @chez_clio  3 месяца назад +1

      I have a bunch of sweet potatoes right now so I’ll make her food with them tonight instead! Thanks for your input!

      Dogs can process carbs as they produce amalaze (sic). Dogs will eat whatever necessary to avoid starvation, but they much prefer protein. Sweet potatoes and pumpkin are also carbs, and all are higher on the glycemic index than the spinach. I wouldn’t feed any of those choices regularly, but many home made feeders do, so, I say to each his own. Cooking and purée will help make it more bio-available.
