The title of the song/tabuh(in balinese) is Manuk Anguci, which mean the bird's singing. This song was created by I Wayan senen in 1950's. This song usually performed as an accompaniment to religious ceremonies and non-religious event, like an art party/show or gong kebyar parade.
Hi...mr.D.....i'm from BALI this is our tradisional musik ( gambelan bali ). I'm proud to you.....to reakction our trafisional musik. We have so many other kinds of gamelan....diven of our situation and condision....you can tray to serch.....BELEGANJUR, ANGKLUNG ,GONG KEBYAR, RINDIK....etc. Ok....i start to follow you....
You are right. In the Balinese Hindu traditions, everything you do relates to the religion or spiritual. That is why you will get a chance to see this kind of performances every day in different places and in every places during the big ceremonies. Every sound you hear has a meaning and is dedicated to the sepcific God. Each instrument has its own design which tell the stories to whom the sound is dedicated to. Those stuffs in front of them are offerings to the God.
That was Balinese gamelan. There are another two gamelan : Javanese gamelan, and Sundanese gamelan. You must search another traditional music instriments made from bamboos, it is called ANGKLUNG from West Java ( Sundanese ).
The smoke that you seen is not for mosquitos propel. That's called "menyan" or "dupa" smell good. That is ussualy used for any ritual as part of our culture in Indonesia, especially Bali.
Those fruits are called sesajen, it is common thing in Bali, the way you respect mother nature and God by giving a symbol. A sacred symbolism in Hindu Bali. It is both artistic and sacred symbol in one sesajen.
For more info... Every ceromony we held in bali... Always completly with the gambelan and dancing. That was simbol our presentation to our GOD and our ancestor. Balinesess ceremony not complit without gambelan ,dancing ,priest bell ,kidung ( balinesess song for ceremony) and the offering .
it's gamelan from Bali.....it's different from gamelan from Central Java and East Java......maybe the equipment is almost the same but again the tone is very different......if the most complete gamelan is gamelan from Java.. ..Javanese gamelan can be used for dancing...singing (nembang) either Javanese-Indonesian-English songs or any language or just music....
That's one of Gamelan (music instrument in Bali) there are many kind of Gamelan in Bali,,,please come to Bali to find out and You'll hear something special sound, it's so harmony
In the past, the islands of Java and Bali were one island and separated by the eruption of Mount Krakatoa, eventually becoming a strait, a culture' of the same lineage at the time of the first Hindu kingdom in Indonesia, I read from Indonesian History🇮🇩🌴😋

Yes they playing music as a ritual for the Goddess, they called Dewa , and they put food, flowers and burning ?, as a overing to God asking for good luck 🙏🇮🇩🇺🇸😻
If you ever happen to see the movie "Lord Jim", starring Peter O'Toole, you will hear gamelan on the (excellent) soundtrack. And yes, Bali is beautiful (but it was better in 1975) ;).
Nice reaction Mr... For more about Bali.. Please see the Pelebon or cremation ceremony of Royal Kelungkung or Royal Ubud Bali. About the fruits in front of the gambelan is balinesess offering with stick insence as a wittnes our pray to the GOD as hope everthing goes well .thank you Mr. See U in bali.
This gamelan tone is typical of the Balinese region, each gamelan has many versions, between Javanese gamelan between East Java, Central Java, Bara Java and Bali in terms of tone, everything is different, that's the diversity of cultures that exist in Indonesia.
We call *Sesajen* In the modle infront of Traditional gamelan group. Sesajen, the gift for Dewa [gods]. Sesajen is designed in various models. It reflects the simplicity and modernity. It is very interesting to observe the models and uniqenesses of them. The colors and “ingredients” of each sesajen are diferent among them. Most of sesajen consisted of flowers and parfume. Indeed, snacks and typical simple foods are in.
Thank you for your appreciation 🙏❤ If you would like to learn how to play the Balinese Gambelan music, please come to Bali and I will host you to study it at my village.
Hello D, pardon the rather lengthy comment. This particular track you are reacting to is a Balinese Gamelan in a 'Gong Kebyar' genre, titled 'Manuk Panguci' (Balinese for the chirping of birds). 'Gong Kebyar' is one of the various genres in Balinese Gamelan. Played in the pentatonic scale called 'pelog selisir', Kebyar (Balinese for ‘to flare up’ or ‘burst open’) is characterized by explosive sounds, syncopations, sudden and gradual changes in sound color, dynamics, tempo, and articulation, with complex, complementary interlocking melodic and rhythmic patterns called ‘kotekan’ in local term. The person in the middle is called 'Ugal' whose role within the entire ensemble is similar to a conductor in an orchestra. The higher sitting position, expressive gesture through head and shoulder, and higher wooden mallet movement are intended to give a visual cue of the tempo and dynamics to the rest of the players. Balinese gamelan is categorized into three periods: (1) Gamelan Wayah (Old Gamelan) believed to exist before the 15th century, (2) Gamelan Madya (Middle Gamelan) between the 16th to 19th centuries, and (3) Gamelan Anyar (New Gamelan) in the 20th century. 'Gong Kebyar' genre falls under the Gamelan Anyar period (Balinese for New Gamelan), and perhaps is the most national- and internationally well-known genre in Balinese gamelan. Its bursting flare of sounds and dynamics became a signature to what Balinese gamelan sounds like. In actual bursting sound with dynamic syncopation is not the only style in Balinese gamelan. The genres will correlate with the purpose and the occasion that the gamelan is played, i.e. whether it is for a ritual or a general performance. As a comparison try to listen to one of Balinese Gamelan called 'Tabuh Selonding': ruclips.net/video/iEUky_lrrrw/видео.html. Categorized as Gamalen Wayah (Old Gamelan), this genre is performed only in sacred ritual ceremonies. 'Tabuh Selonding' is one of the oldest gamelan genres and originated from Pre-Hindu Bali (or called Bali Aga, in local terms).
4:03 Sorry want to make it straight a little bit, the man in the middle ..he is still waiting his turn to play his instrument call "Reong". One Reong plays by 4 or 5 people together. Cheers
@@ERRORzees "Suckers" is American slang, meaning just about anything. I did not mean "a ton" literally. Being solid metal, all the instruments are quite heavy.

If we pay attention to this music, it is like the waves crashing on a coral beach.
In Indonesia there is a Balinese Hindu gamelan, there is a Javanese gamelan, there is a sunda gamelan, with its own characteristics.
Agree with Sist Sakur Solo...
The music is like a sacral/ritual music of HINDU BALI. This is Bali Gamelan (slightly different with Java Gamelan)
Yes they playing music as a ritual for the Goddess, they called Dewa , and they put food, flowers and burning ?, as a overing to God asking for good luck 🙏🇮🇩🇺🇸😻
That is for Ritual...
Gamelan music was the first to use metal, and in Japan it is used for heart therapy.
The hammers used by the artists to tap 'the gamelan instruments'' are called "PANGGUL".
If you ever happen to see the movie "Lord Jim", starring Peter O'Toole, you will hear gamelan on the (excellent) soundtrack. And yes, Bali is beautiful (but it was better in 1975) ;).
