The Christmas Pickle is in fact a real tradition…that originated with some German-Americans in the 19th century, according the Wikipedia. That’s why your German viewers hadn’t heard about it.
Wow! Thats neat to know. Thanks for sharing. My family is from Bavaria and I am 4th generation American and I didnt know about it either--it was just a weird thing I heard of from my kids! We have had a pickle ornament for about a decade now but we just try and find it without a prize. Probably would be more fun to get a prize LOL!
I grew up with the pickle ornament tradition. I’m 3rd generation German/Danish American and my parent’s grew up with the pickle tradition and passed it along to me!

I was at EPCOT in its opening year. it sure has changed a lot (as you said). I was absolutely fascinated by that leaping water.
Why don't they have two or more Figments so that when one goes on break, another one can discreetly take over?
I don't know about the Germans, but the Pickle on the Tree is an old Polish tradition. Maybe the Germans got it in *WWII reference*.
My family is German-American and we grew up with the pickle tradition! For us whoever found the pickle got to open the first present on Christmas Eve (which is when we would do our main celebration) 😊

Was just there last week. One of the best trips to disneyworld so far. Mixed feelings about the new areas during the day but at night it is truly magical. I Like the new Luminous show as well. Sometimes simpler is better.
I had the amazing chance to sing with my HS in The Candlelight Processional and it was literally the best experience of my life!

I really hate when companies get political. Every Santa I've seen at Disney video streams in parades or meet ups has been black this season and it's kind of annoying. It isn't representational as they claim, it's just them forcing diversity down our throat. Why aren't there any black Norwegian Julenisse or black Italian Befana? Because that would be idiotic. Historically Santa has been white throughout all of American history so why the sudden change now if only to push a company narrative that runs counter to American culture. Shame on Disney for screwing with our tradition. They, like most on the political left, think we don't have culture and they've chosen to blackwash it so that future generations won't know that culture either.
