Thanks so much for the detailed video! I was able to get mine working again by sanding the end of the probe and I at least now know I do not have the reverse-threaded version so I can buy just that part.

Thanks. Hadn't changed one in years. Great refresher before I started.

Dude. Great video. Mine is exactly like yours and had the same issue with the left hand threads. In the end I modified my original “nut” like you did and it’s working. I was worried about buggering up the threads with the grinder, but I have a set of needle files and was able to clean them up. Thanks.

I have been having issues with mine staying lit the last two days. When I went to relite it this evening and pressed the igniter I saw a spark on that orange wire! Do I need to also replace that wire? and the thermocouple too? Or is there a kit just to replace the wire?

The whole thermocouple and the wire together is sold at the big box stores for about six dollars just replace the whole thing They actually are connected together

If you fix the thermocouple and it still doesn’t stay lit it could be airflow. People have been taking off the small window and replacing with a metal mesh to have better airflow inside.

If you have reverse threads on the thermocouple, how did you know 'first' when you were removing it because normally, anyone will tighten it to the point of messing it up ??

I did buy I knew something was wrong it couldn’t be that tight so I inspected it better and figured it out

Mine had a factory sticker on the copper tube that said it was left hand threads.

Wow, that whole copper line is severely crimped
