  • The people of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians are descendants from many different tribes and bands. "Skookum Tillicum" recounts the history of the Siletz Indians from the tribe's point of view - from their forced removal from their homelands to a 1.1 million-acre reservation in western Oregon, to the 1954 federal termination of the tribe. But interest in the traditional ways survived and federal recognition was ultimately regained through the hard work of many. The tribe looks forward to the future as they remember their ancient traditions and work toward strengthening their people through education and native culture.
