  • I really think this one will help a lot of y'all out there, Pros and Cons of Marine Infantry. Being part of the Marine Corps Infantry is an achieved held above all. But being an Infantry Marine isn't all good. The Infantry is going to be challenging, hard, and exhausting. But you will see that Infantrymen always seem to get the job done, no matter what.     My older brother is in boot camp as we speak it’s crazy how we were just kids a couple years ago now he’s getting pushed to his limits to become a marine he is only 19 years old he is my hero I’m just waiting for my 18 th birthday to join my brother and become a part of the greatest fighting force in America

      george baez not exactly. My brother is a Marine and he said it’s mostly Army units getting deployed to “combat” zones. Not sure why

    I was 1812 Tank Crewman. Combat experience as a Combat Engineer conducting route clearance. I read that the Marines don’t have Tanks anymore. I’m a dying breed of Marine. There was nothing more bada$$ than playing the game “kill everything” in a Tank.

    There are no cons, as an 0311 I can say that being a Marine grunt is the most difficult, most rewarding MOS in the Corps.

      @@TrelltheGreat Two questions...if you are still out there...How hard is it to make Gunnery Sergeant and how much serious hazing goes on in infantry ? These two questions would "show stoppers" for me... especially hazing...where you could get really hurt. Friendly hazing would be the limit for me.

    I am 12 years old and my dad was a marine infantryman. I want to join the marines when I am 18 so I have been losing weight and physically and mentally making myself stronger. I am hoping that I'm where I want to be when the time comes

    I want to be an infantryman bc of the amount of stuff that goes on from blowing stuff up to shooting and seeing the different living conditions that other people around the world have to live with. And also push my mental limits to know that anything is possible or that I’m able to do things that years ago I would say that I’m not able to.

    My son just graduated Bootcamp and has 5 yr contract infantry. Bootcamp was hard on his body and he is a stong young man, thank goodness he got a month RA to recover.

    I'm definitely going for infantry despite of the hardworking position you will be in but to me it's mainly the brotherhood that I am in for that particular Arena for the Infantry something that is that authentic and the bond doesn't break and the willingness to do whatever it takes for your brothers that's enough for me.

    Honestly I feel a though the cons won't really bother me if I do decide to choose the Infantry. Mainly because I don't have that tight relationship with my family members nor do I feel as though someone back home is really gonna care if I'm gone.

    There is a 4th con Trell may not even be aware of. Respect of other Marines who are not infantry. The infantry IS the pointy end of the stick. Those of us who supported them have great respect for them.
    That's what every other MOS in the Marines is for - supporting the 03s

    What's the leadership like? Is it toxic or are they good leaders? What do you do in garrison? Also, what is the environment of infantry like? Is it a lot of people who want to get better or do they just goof around?

      I can answer yes and no to many of those questions. It's going to be different for everyone. You just have to do the right thing and not feed into all the negativity. But overall there are great leaders here.

    went in the wild Reagan 80's , 03/11 led me to 03/21 , led me to soldiering for $$ which as i got older led to bail work , construction , night club security which led to more private gun work which led to running & gunning and ducking and dodging and trying to learn how to grow old gracefully which isn't as easy as it sounds but on a good note i can have a drink at any VFW ( as long as i pay for my own drinks ) semper fi young jarheads

    Training for the Corps.
    What is the absolute longest runs you’ve been on? I can walk endlessly, but running long distances is what I want to train for.
    I’m thinking about going infantry, if you could do it again, is there another MOS you would do, or recommend?

      Longest run: 11 miles
      Other MOS: Aviation, Intel, MP, Admin, Supply

    No two days are the same. Within the FMF any day can be a deployment day and when we were not deployed or training on base, we seemed to always be on air-alert when back at Lejeune. I always preferred being on a ship to being stuck in a barracks but our barracks time never seemed to last too long. I Co. Wpns. 3/4 2nd.Mar.Div. 26th. (then) MAU. Semper Fi!

    I think you need to go vacuum my parking lot for showing up to my formation 13 minutes prior..!!
    06:30 Alpha inspection at the barracks..!!
    04:30 PT on Monday
    Field on Tuesday...!! Camp Wilson for 2 months..!!
    So I joined and in my first 4 years I went to 11 countries, 16 US States....Kosovo in 1999 when on the MEU....came back to the US...re-enlisted in 29 Palms.....then found out for me to make it past Cpl I had to go to sniper school.
    Barely passed it but got my promotion...
    Changed my MOS quite a bit after that and deployed to Iraq in 2003-2008
    Instructor at MCMWTC 2008-2011
    Afghanistan 2011-2014
    Retired in April 2015.
    I don’t regret any of it.
    56 countries / 48 US States, I speak 9 languages, I still run 3 miles in 18:02 as an “old retired Marine”.

    I was with 2/7. The pro was good deployments. Thankfully I got Syria/Iraq. Could’ve easily been Australia. Being a grunt definitely toughens you the fuck out. Desert life 🤙🏻

    Is it hard to get an infantry (USMC)contract? I'm considering Us army infantry because of the guaranteed job selection.
    I would like to give the Marine Corps are try and I'm not worried about it being harder because it's gonna be hard anyway, so how hard was it to get offered that infantry contract? It's at the needs of the corps and not you as an individual so that's my only real concern tbh.

      Lmao. When I was 13 I wanted to go to college and be a video game developer. Now I'm 18. Working construction, and about to join the military as my life has hit a dead end at 18. My advice to you Matthew is stay away from drugs in high school and dont get too attached to people as you get older. You'll probably never talk to any of your highschool friends again after you graduate and that's the sad truth. So dont let them influence your life plans

    hey man, i was wondering if it was ignorant to tell your recruiter you wanna go 0311 & see combat at 15 yrs. old, my dad's a Marine that served in 94 - 98 & my Great Uncle was MIA in WW2, i wanna join the Corps to see combat, & i know what I'm getting my self into, & i wanna do it 110% .

    I’m in the u.s. army so as a fellow veteran thanks for your service. As for those your bosses who gave you that 40 day punishment they need to be fired from the military for making you sign in every two hours for 40 days. That’s going to far. And how much you wanna bet they say o this is the marines. No offense to you trey but this is directed to your leadership. Then why did the royal marines make the u.s. marines surrender even when we had home field advantage. Shouldn’t have the u.s. marines won if it’s the hardcore marines?

    Lol when I was like 12 or idk I was younger I would make like home made explosives and such I was all into chemistry idk shooting guns for a living sounds great I have a blast when I put 30 rounds thru my ar at the range and plus Idk what it is with me but I love cleaning rifles sure they do that plenty in infantry going to meps next week and hopefully boot camp this winter

    Question the army has infantry 11B and other 3 infantry. I know 11B fight as where the other provide cover from back I forgot what the machine is call.
    What about the marines?

    How often are infantryman training in the field or just training in general? Cuz ide rather be training than doing cleaning and I’m just wondering how much your actualy doing your job

      Depend on what kind of deployment you're going on. Also depends on your unit. A lot of factors goes in to how much you train. But trust me you're going to do a lot of both

    I'm on the fence about going infantry or aav crewmen as an mos. I wanna do infantry but everyone I've talked to (marines who's enlisted) tells me how much it sucks but none of them are infantry so idk how to take their opinions.
