    I flew the PIA 5th Manchester-Houston route in 2005 with a 777-200ER AP-BGK. Lovely crew and a great flight.

Wow that’s super niche. I recall the PIA 747’s info Manchester being the first 747’s I saw as a kid. Looked insane. Now see A380s on final almost daily which equally never get dull

Fly SFO-HKG portion in 1991, but just because a nearly 24hr. UA delay(!), and I fell asleep most of the time, just like Jack Ryan in "The Hunt for Red October" ending... Also took SIN-MXP-BCN round-trip for watch late season FC Barcelona games in 2011.

I use MAN > IAH > MAN often. Lousy miles credited to Mileageplus, but the service when compared to UA from LHR is worth it

Always wondered if anyone boards at Manchester? Is it mostly leisure or business travellers? I get the connections but still seems odd

I was on their old SIN-MEL-WLG between MEL-WLG in 2019. It was WLG's only wide body flight from memory.

I believe in the late nineties there was a short period a SIN-CDG-AMS route with the B747-400. Which kinda odd, because the AMS-SIN flight was a direct flight. It was a one time experience, I was never a SIA flight from SIN to AMS and vice versa with a stop anymore.

1999 - AMS - EWR on the 744 ... SQ also operated Amsterdam to Chicago for a short while, but that was ended after the September 11 attacks of 2001.

Not been onboard any SQ fifth freedom flight, but I have been onboard Emirates fifth freedom from HK to Dubai via Bangkok. What special about that is the crew don’t ask us to get off the plane in Bangkok but Thai police get onboard to do the security screening for us.

Plus, there aren't really many Justified fifth freedom operations given that newer planes can fly longer(A35K can fly 16100km enough for SIN-ATL). Not many countries are willing to give up their protection to local carrier

Back in early 2000 / late 90s, SIA flew SIN - Karachi - Lahore - SIN twice a week and the other two times a week flew SIN - Lahore - Karachi - SIN using A340-300E. Could not carry revenue paying passengers between Karachi and Lahore. It was also rumoured that since jet fuel was excessively expensive in Pakistan at the time, the A340 would carry most of its fuel to get there and back, perhaps topping up only a little.

I’m pretty sure this summer they will bring the a380 back to the Frankfurt New York routes as i have a booking from Singapore to Frankfurt in august and Singapore airlines says that the a380 will operate the flight.

i flew from IAH - MAN as i was a transit and went onwards to LHR -DEL. I usually go to houston once a year. and i have taken multiple layovers as DEL - IAH is not connected directly.
The one i prefer the most are as follows
DEL - DXB - IAH On emirates 777 then A380
DEL - DOH - IAH on Qatar airways 787 then A350
DEL - LHR - IAH on Virgin atlantic then british airways A350 and 787.
    (Edit starts from here)
I prefer to take these route to IAH from DEL but most of the times i take either emirates or QA
I wish that AI would have 5th flights from DEL - IAH Via manchester or Madrid.

an interesting one that existed was Melbourne to Singapore via Adelaide. My mother did the ADL-SIN part of the flight the then SQ228(WHICH THESE DAYS is a nonstop)on a 747-300 this was just after her father passed on in early 1991.she returned home on Qantas 767.what has fascinated me since 1996 to present day is ADL-SIN is now a stand alone service using a mix of a310,a340,777,a330,a350 and now the 787 in the last 28 years.

7:05 The 253-seat A350-941's (9V-SJA to 9V-SJH and 9V-SMA to 9V-SMZ) are NOT Star Alliance's lowest capacity widebody. In fact, they're not even the lowest capacity widebody in Singapore Airlines' fleet. SQ's seven A350-941ULR (9V-SGA to 9V-SGG) have configuration C67W94, only 161 seats. These ULR variants are only used in ultra long haul direct flights between Singapore and US.

    • @LongHaulbySimpleFlying
      @LongHaulbySimpleFlying  26 дней назад

Yes. We should have specified that it's Singapore Airlines' lowest-capacity non-ULR A350.

@ 1:56. If you’re going to do shonky CGI images of planes make sure the freeway underneath actually aligns. Embarrassing a huge multi lane freeway suddenly stops mid picture and carries on several hundred metres to its left. .

Is there a mistake in the flight path? Why is the map of the SIN-FRA-JFK service directly overflying Ukrainian airspace ? I hope SQ are not overflying Ukraine. This brings back sinister memories of how an SQ flight was merely minutes directly behind MH17 on that horrible day in 2014.

Surprised how poor the interior cabin looked on the aircraft with the poor passengers on board in the turbulence no better than any other airline
