I kind of get it. There's a lot of pride in that uniform, a lot of history. To wear the uniform should be an honor, it should have a huge impact on you. To say "you make the uniform" kind of says you have a bigger impact than the uniform does. If you put another uniform on her, she's just another cheerleader but if you put another girl in the uniform, she's a DCC. The uniform means something and she's replaceable. Especially if you buy your own food from the grocery store and make food yourself vs dining out. I live in Los Angeles (the not so nice part of la) yet the fruits and veggies aren't expensive. Not to mention that one of my favorite health drinks is always on sale. My mom for example makes her own green machine drink vs buying it like me. It's a lot cheaper to make it yourself than it is buying it already made. I pay $5.99 for a big bottle of it. A lot of those ladies live in or around the Dallas area so, I'm sorry but that's a little bit of a copout with all do respect. As for how much they get paid, I know it went up to $400 per game thanks to Erica's lawsuit. I think it should be more. I think there was nothing wrong with saying “I make the uniform.” A uniform on a rack is not a DCC, and a DCC can be a DCC without wearing the uniform. A DCC is about a great dancer with a good personality and a passion for the community. A uniform on a rack is not any of those qualities eek

I agree. But I believe they used it as a trick question. What she should’ve answered was that she believed with who she is as a person combined with dance ability, combined with what that uniform represents, makes exactly was the organization and fans are looking for. That way both she and the uniform are represented correctly in the answer.

I totally agree. So often they set them up with questions like, "who do you think was the best in the room tonight?" I agree but her reasoning for saying it didn't really back it up. Because Kelli was given the flake by everyone because on a previous season a certain Melissa Rycroft was "in trouble" for calling in sick for having mono and Kelli and Judy did not believe her and had a go at her about it and then when a certain Cassie Trammell got ILL WITH MONO Judy was "making excuses for her" (Yes Judy is first and foremost Cassie's mother) and telling people Cassie had "mono" and to give her some credit and its like but you had a go at Melissa Rycroft for having mono .....
Also a certain Cassie, in her FIFTH and final season, had a plaster on her knee because she just had surgery and gained a little weight, and was not performing her best, she was given her spot back. During finals deliberation, Jay Johnson asked Kelli, Judy and Charlotte "if anyone else came in with an injury would "YOU" give that girl a chance/be lenient?" Kelli's EXACT reply was "no".
Kelli was "flamed" over these incidents, by other fans (at the time). This was why at the last minute Kelli went against the judges votes and allowed Danielle her spot in training camp, because she (Kelli) knew if she didn't there would have been ALOT of people kicking up a fuss over Danielle who got injured whilst practicing her solo . None of the judges "voted" Danielle back into training camp/to get her uniform back.
      I have nothing against Danielle.

Again these girls are not fitness models or bikini or fitness bodybuilders,,, they are dancers,,,,,and their body composition isnt going to be to be 16% OR LOWER,,,,, unless they are building lean muscle mass ,,,,,,,,to be honest i think they would cut a girl on the DCC for being to muscular as well. it hurts my heart every time they comment on a girl’s weight, and even more so when they cut them because of it (almost cried when they cut Hannah, what a shame they lost someone so special for something so superficial). i know that they have a certain “look” and it’s been that way for a long time, but just because it’s what is done, doesn’t mean it’s what should be done. i hope they’d consider rethinking these standards in the coming seasons seeing how times are changing. i know there are a lot more deeper issues within the organization, but something like that would be a big, important step for a team with so much reach and impact

It's amazing how beauty standards like body size have trends of their own. From the DCC 1st season (during the Paris Hilton era), you see how having a frighteningly low level of body fat and a rail thin shape was appealing in pop culture. Now, in the face of modern day's body positivity and shape inclusivity, you don't see the judges make these constant body shaming critiques, as they have in the seasons past. However, I bet my bottom dollar that they still do; they are just careful not to have it caught on film, because they know they'd receive serious flack. I genuinely feel so sorry for these girls. Sometimes, these judges give the notion they're being professional, when they actually just seem like bullies picking at body image because it makes them feel superior and able to regain lost youth, despite their own age or body inadequacies. These dancers are all in incredible shape, are able to perform their jobs well, but yet are told their bodies are not a proper display of the golden ideal. But, if you asked any average person how attractive they thought these girls are, they would say that they are drop dead gorgeous and have absolutely nothing they need to fix about their bodies.
DCC's beauty standards are not just obnoxious and out-dated; they are dangerous...and quite frankly, inhumane.

Though I assume those gals haven’t carried a few babies yet; but at 5’5 and 118lbs I could easily be pinned as being overweight to cheerleader standards.
I choose to eat cookies, ice cream and watch these videos instead of work out. It isn’t inhumane, it’s a lifestyle choice.
Chicks can preach all the “body positivity” bullshit they want as an excuse to not put in the effort; but men don’t particularly find unfit attractive. Professional football has a majority male demographic, their opinion is the only thing that sells

    • @djm4854
      @djm4854 Год назад

@@libralillyknits I love that you call body positivity bullshit. That speaks volumes about how warped your own idea of female body standards are. This male demographic you speak of---I can guarantee you---would still find some of these size 8/size 10 girls with thicker thighs and curves to be incredibly attractive and crazy sexy. It's women who actually are harder on women. And it's not men judging, as much as it is female judges. While you talk about eating ice cream and cookies, being lazy, I can guarantee you that these girls do not do that. They bust their asses, day in and day out, to get to this point. But sometimes, metabolism doesn't cooperate, and some women have a little more body mass. But just because someone has a higher BMI or weighs more than you, does not mean they're not physically fit or lazy. That's an incredibly ignorant point of view.

They have to trust that throughout the season the dancers maintain the same size, they can’t be re-tailoring uniforms every few weeks. There have also been slightly curvier highly commended dancers (Kashara and Maddie most recently) so it’s not just about body type, but when a girl is gaining/losing weight alongside having other performance issues it’s an indication that perhaps she isn’t looking after herself as well or training as hard.

Except, to all of these girls, there is nothing better than being a DCC. This is their absolute dream in life. Most of them have worked their entire lives to make the squad so when that dream is cut short and they don't get to leave in their own time, that's devastating to them. It may not seem like a big deal to you but this is everything to these girls.

I love this video! Please do a video of Brennan's journey to make the team. I really look up to her, and how she persevered to finally be a DCC. She inspires me to continue to persevere through things in my own life.

Jasmine confused me so much the year she was cut because she seemed completely uninterested in being a DCC. I'm not sure why she didn't just retire after her third year. It's like she came back and purposely wanted to get cut? I don't know. She did go on the Bachelor not long after this (and a bunch of other reality shows), so maybe she wanted an out? The whole thing was weird.

Jasmine was probably going through something during that time and it threw her off her game. She actually auditioned for and made the 2015 Golden State Warriors Dance Team after getting cut from the DCC. She considering auditioning for year two until she took on the opportunity of being on The Bachelor.

It horrible to fat shame someone BUT these girls sign up and know there is a certain look and standard they are held to. Them not coming back in their best shape can read as not caring. Some of these girls weren't dancing to par because they weren't as healthy. If they had no control over it I would be more appalled but these ladies, especially the Vets know what the standard is. Its up to them if they want to put themselves through it.

skinny doesn't mean healthy, majority of the girls that were cut for "weight" were brought on the team for being pretty not their dancing ability in the first place, when they don't look to be "dcc weight" that's when they harp on their dancing because their poor dancing is emphasized

Plus it is in their contracts to maintain the audition weight

The thing is none of these girls are fat even with the weigh gain they still aren't fact. The current squad for example, Gina (in my eyes) is a GREAT example. If you look at her rookie season, she was not fat or thin but HEALTHY weight. But now, her pics ..... she was practically ANOREXIC. There are edited and unedited pics of her where one version of her is her "looking anorexic" and one version (of the exact picture) looking healthy.
Yes the girls KNOW the deal when they signed the contract. But the contract says that you must not gain a certain amount above your (I think its like 5 pounds above) audition weight

Arts inthe Stars I didn’t say skinny meant healthy. I meant that some of the girls they called on for gaining weight...their moves were slower and not sharp. If you don’t take care of yourself you loose stamina. For the girls that didn’t dance and great but had the look, that’s an opportunity isn’t it. To train and try to improve through your year. I feel like their looks got them through and maybe they had enough dancing ability that the DCC could work with. But if after a year your dancing still isn’t better then yeah your looks won’t pass you through. I think it would be worse if year two they said that they’re dancing ability wasn’t to par but pass them again because of that pretty face.

They’ve been making cuts for years but still can’t find the words.
