F30 BMW | Permanently Open Exhaust Valves | No Tune Required

  • Today I'm gonna show you guys how to force the exhaust valves to stay open on an F3X BMW by just pulling a plug. Open valves will give you extra sound when idling or driving at low RPM.
    Stock exhausts and even some aftermarket exhausts are designed to be quiet when just cruising around. This design makes sense, but I still prefer the car to be loud all the time.
    Most tunes give you the ability to open the valves, but I noticed that the exhaust would still close sometimes even when it was set to stay open. Thats why I think this is the best way to do it.
    Mod List:
    BMS performance intake
    VRSF charge pipe
    VRSF high flow downpipe
    VRSF 5" HD intercooler
    AWE Touring exhaust
    Wiechers Sport front strut brace

    Update: Better solution than taping the plugs. Go on ECS tuning and search up 'Exhaust Flap Actuator Plug Cover'

      How does the actuator plug work? Do you plug it into the empty slot on the exaust? Or do you fix it to the cable that you waterproofed?
      Any solutions for protecting the plug on the exaust itself?
      Thanks man.

      I learned in school. Back in the day when turbos were making their way into more cars. Guys would rev up their engines and then turn the car off to see whose turbos would stay spinning the longest. I don’t know about newer cars but imagine turning your car off while the turbo is still spooling and hot. The oil that’s in there won’t go anywhere because the car has be turned off so you’d just have hot oil sitting in your turbo to be cooked into sludge.

    Also they sell a fake plug actuator that I guess plugs into the spot where the real actuator went into. So with the fake actuator I guess you plug the hole so to speak but you still have to deal with the dangling plug and wire? How did you secure that dangling wire ? What is it attached to ?

      I ordered the actuator plug cover and it looks pretty big and also has a what appears to be a fastener clip on it. Looking at the OEM plug I can see a very small tab. Do you just pull the plug part ( where the wires go into ) and if so do you squeeze that one tab or pry it and pull? or do you detach entire housing and then disconnect? A bit confusing

    • @NWAuto
      @NWAuto  3 года назад

      @@scottjohnson8316 I pushed the tab down and then pulled the plug. It is kind of annoying to remove. Just take your time to make sure you dont damage it. But no I didn't detach the entire housing.

  • @STAyTHIrstyMyFREind
    @STAyTHIrstyMyFREind 4 года назад +3

    I thought that plug on the AWE was just to trick the DME, because AWE(w/ midpipe) is basically a straight piped exhaust. Meaning no valves right? When you hear the exhuast flap opening sound after the cold start sequence is up, i was under the impression that was just the flap motor moving but there was no actual flap... correct me if im wrong?

    • @NWAuto
      @NWAuto  4 года назад

      I think that would be the AWE track exhaust and not the touring exhaust, which I’m not sure is even available for my car. Mine got louder after I did this. And I can hear the flap close on mine like 20 seconds after a cold start.

    • @NWAuto

      Yeah that exhaust system is set up different. Your best bet is to find which fuse controls the exhaust flap and pull it while the flap is open. The BimmerLink app might help with keeping the exhaust flap open enough while you go remove the fuse
