Martha is gorgeous here
Total sexpot.
Whew! Man she drives me crazy!
Love her. Like a new wave minx and a 40s femme fatale combination
@@paistecat She's smoking up the entire scene here. What a woman! Just my type of look.

Martha Davis is quite a woman. She came from a musical family. Married young at 15, she had her first daughter Maria (girl in the Motels' video for "Suddenly Last Summer") that same year, with daughter Patricia born 2 yrs later. She divorced her abusive husband whrn her kids were young and started up the Motels in the early 70's (she turned 20 in January 1971) working her ass off with her band and raising her daughters till her band took off.
I didn't know that was her daughter! It always bothered me it wasn't Martha in that video, but now I get it. I have always respected how strong Martha is and she's a role model.
Rhianna Barr-Beaumont I auditioned down in “The Masque”.... if I had worked a little harder at it I probably would have been in the band. This was in 1979. She was always great....
She absolutely is an amazing person. I'm going to get to see her live for the first time in June and I can't hardly wait.
It is bands like The Motels that make me appreciate the 80's, especially New Wave Music.
the fact the questioning revolves around the art, the making of the art, band chemistry and development tells you we are not in Kansas anymore; those, were, the, fucking, days.
thank you Dick Clark.
Only the Lonely is one of the best songs ever! Has absolutely NOTHING to do with booty, nothing to do with drugs, just a great song sung by a great woman!!!!!! the video is classy!!!!!!!
I love "Only the Lonely"! Yeah, I think Martha Davis is excellent.
+Erin Walsh No drugs or booty? Oh crap!
LITTLE ROBBERS as well. I am still obsessed with the song after all of these DECADES :-)
-Kirk
Erin you said it exactly. Look how this group looks and acts, and conducts themselves. And look at the debaucherous no-talent trash we have today. This is a beautiful, talented, sober and classy woman.
"And on the drums ?" "Brian Glasscock from England" that's a name
Nothing but LOVE for this woman and her band!
love love love xxxxxxx
Some of the best music I've ever experienced listening to ❤ Thanks
Back when there were bands, real singers, real musicians. And real interviewers who knew almost as much about music and the biz then the performers themselves.
The Motels were in the biz for many years before they made it big in 82 here
Dick Clark was the best....he saw about 25 genres of music evolve.....he had the best job in the world!!!!!!!!
Pls bring back American Bandstand and dig Dick Clark back from the grave..
He need to restore sanity back in America..
growing up, what a crush i had on this gorgeous woman.
She's hot. What a babe. What a voice!
what a beautiful woman so gentle and kind and humble so rare a true diamond and the band are all true gentlemen they just dont make musos like this anymore {splinta 73}
That bass player wound up in Austin, Texas, working in a music store at Northcross Mall.
Michael Goodroe on bass, Guy Perry on guitar, Martha on sometimes rhythm guitar, and of course vocals, Brian Glascock on drums and Martin Jourard on keys and sax.
Martha - WOW gorgeous. Think about going to see them soon in Philly. She definitely is stunning!!!!! Dick Clark we sure do miss you and Casey Kasem. You guys REALLY knew music.
That and Don Cornelius
Martha Davis was a sexy lady! Real bands, playing instruments, playing real songs! Great group....
Love her voice and she puts so much of herself into her craft.
Martha Davis...one of the greatest women in rock.
To put it simply, Martha, you look stunning. Only The Lonely is one of my all time favorite songs and this is a brilliant video.
a fantastic singer and incredible woman.. 🔥
Fell in love with her back then...those beautiful eyes.
I still have my Motels albums and I still love the music.
Wow Martha absolutely stunning!😜
I never knew mercy could feel this way!
I'm soooo glad I saw them at the first show at the Kabuki Theater in San Francisco 6th October, 1982.
Awesome line of questioning, the band is modest & focused, and she was gorgeous! Perfect!
OMG, I have been in love with Martha since childhood!
I had a crush on Martha in 1979 and I still have in 2022 😁
Underrated 80s band periodt
Martha has a phenomenal singing voice.... but could've been a world class voice over artist or announcer.... just a great voice.
LOVE MARTHA! Forever! The band always rocks. This is a cool clip to find. 🌹💓
Martha is pure 80s¡ love her
0:38 Michael Goodroe from Abq, NM.. Way to go, Mike! Motels Awesome!
I adore this lady 🖤
Awesome Stuff Martha & The Motels with Dick Clark.
I fucking love her!!
I had no idea that she was so shy and awkward - not in a bad way, of course. And Dick Clark - boy howdy, he knew how to run a show.
She seems intoxicated.
I grew up thinking The Motels were an Aussie band and now I learn that its members were gathered from the "four corners" as Dick said. Double impact.
I thought they were Aussie too.. not sure why..
This was only one line-up the band had, out of many. They defo cycled through musicians.
When TV was good!
Martha era guapísima y la rola de shame era lo máximo. A cada rato repetía sus canciones. Benditos 80s. Nos dejaron cosas increíbles y los recuerdos son una de esas cosas.
Martha looks absolutely divine 💞
If you're a young Baby Boomer born around 1958-1964, this was a great time to be alive back then.
Fav group of all time 😍😍❤️❤️
Absolutely beautiful
This is so cool:-)
met Martha today @ CHILLER in NJ today.. WUSB FM NY - waxx traxx to the maxx!
Thanks for the upload !! XD
wow!!!? beautiful woman
another song from my teenage years 😎
one of the best LA New Wave bands of 1982
Martha is so cool
This 1982 lineup is the one with THE best Songs.....
I clicked to see an interview, not to fall in love. Dang, she's gorgeous.
Ella tiene una voz preciosa...
It's great to hear the story behind the story.
Isle of you is one of my favs.
Anyone see the reuinion on VH1? That Guitarist ....Guy.... looks even better now. He has aged like fine wine. Looks like a Movie Star. GORGEOUS!
Unfortunately he passed away last November. RIP
We smile without any style....ya, I felt that.
"We drive to LA" lol
AFTER AMERICAN BANDSTAND WAS FORCED TO LEAVE ABC AND LATER RESURFACED ON NBC AND USA NETWORK THE DANCE FLOOR WAS UNFORGETTABLE ! THE FIRST TWO SECONDS ! 1986 - 1989 .
Martha was a hottie and lovely. One of my all-time musical crushes.
Wow look how young they were
Reminds me of Grace Slick back then.
MAJOR Crush On This Woman. Still to this day.
1:41 Martha's tongue!!
I had a soft spot for Martha when I was younger...
Old man now.
Love Martha Davis and The Motels.
My favorite track by them is "Danger".
🙌
The Motels--one of the absolute best bands from the 80s and is Martha gorgeous here or what?
Martha - talk about smoldering charisma!
I love this: from the 4 corners of the earth = an LA band! wooohooo LA!
me encanta y su ropa!!
New Mexico bass player :-)
Refreshingly honest!
Clark was such a clam
Martha Davis was gorgeous! Those eyes!
Happy Birthday Martha Davis born on January 19, 1951. She is an American rock and new wave singer-songwriter. She is most famous for being the lead singer of the band The Motels. - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martha_Davis_(musician)
Martha called Val Garay the drill sergeant of production. Their initial album with Capitol Records was denied, completely. They didn’t like any of the songs. So, um, rewrite it with this new producer Val. And it became their breakout album, All Four One.
Totally agree erin.
The sultry Martha Davis
I love love love this band. She appears to Love LoVe LOVE a substance, can hardly keep here tongue in her mouth.....at least when this video was shot.
She's very beautiful.
Oh man, I miss the girls of the 80's. Hottest women of all time.
They were sexy and they had natural beauty not like the women today. No piercings or tattoos or hair of different colors just natural beauty.
Can you guys upload their performance of "Take The L" ?
Apparently no Dean Chamberlain at this point in time (he had gone on to start his own killer band 'Code Blue')...
She is So Beautiful.
She's a Hottie!
Martha was gorgeous!
Michael on bass is smoking hot omg he was a total babe in the video Suddenly Last Summer
She’s out of her mind under the influence!! Still love her!!
Tara, road fatigue. One didn't get fucked up before appearing on Dick Clark. His first name is Dick and he could be a royal one if displeased.
@@johannesbols57it was common knowledge that she struggled with alcohol
IS AMERICAN BANDSTAND 1980 - 1989 AVAILABLE ON DVD ?
All the guys were handsome. :).
Oh Martha! She could be Elvira's sister here.
listen to who they are introducing. Members of the Band.
"The Motels" were simply Martha Davis with hired sidemen. She was the genius who made it happen.
I saw them years ago. She was rolling around on the stage while singing.
Yup... this was her live band. Session players used in the studio.
Isn’t she just 👌
how the hell does the description say Dean Chamberlain and Lisa Brenneis?
They were in the first iteration of the Motels that was formed in Berkeley. The band that became the motels we know and love was put together in L.A.
Martha is a Bangin Beauty
wheres the rest of the interview ??!!!
Martha is a beautiful lady, but when she was younger she was hot, stunning eyes.
The Motels stole my song in the 70's: "Replace the L with an R and That's My Dog's Name." It was big in Japan.
Martha is awesome and how this band is so underrated,
Amazes me!, now days pure trash!.
He had a hit with Betty Davis Eyes? 1982? I thought that came out way later. The original band and Martha are an Oakland area band. not an LA band. 400 miles north. Berkeley! Represent it better Martha!
Bette Davis Eyes, 1981.
Her voice though.
Mouth tongue and lips to die for.
