Considering BYD has been around since 1995, I reckon parts won’t be a problem. Now given that the majority of legacy automakers are on the verge of bankruptcy, I think that staying with a BYD, Toyota or a Tesla is probably a better idea as they will still be around.
You can novated lease an ev or phev completely pre tax which means you cone out ahead overall compared to leasing a combustion engine vehicle. Btw I'm not an ev fanatic I drive a diesel.
You have to hand it to the Chinese, they work hard and come up with some clever ideas. If nothing else this car will keep the prices of all other cars including Toyos more reasonable, and that can't be a bad thing for us Aussies.

what concerns me if you use it as an ev with petrol left in the tank and do your school runs for example like the presenter says what about all the fuel sitting in the tanks not doing anything it can go off and go gummy especially in high heats and low temps

China car market is quite competitive and even Toyota need bring down car price to maintain market share in China: brand new Toyota Corolla is selling A$17k and brand new RAV4 is selling at A$24k in China.

The reality is these cars are not affordable or wanted. The fuel savings will never repay the extra $ for an equivalent model EV vs ICE car.
