- Single mother Lisa O’Shea, who fears she and her daughter will be evicted from their rental home before Christmas, said there are no urgent, tangible measures to help single parent families secure housing in Budget 2025.
Ms O’Shea, (41), who runs her own beauty business, has lived in her rental home in Cahersiveen, Co Kerry, with her daughter Shaunnagh, (18), for 15 years. The family is due to be evicted in November as the landlady needs the property for a relative.

Blessings and a new home for Lisa and her daughter asap.
Why is it that she doesn't have an option to buy the house?
People are so stupid. If they would only realize that there is a choice between the eviction of tenants or the eviction of mortgage defaulters. The government does NOT want mortgage defaulters evicted and in fact if a mortgage is in default for 12 years, the mortgage holder can get the mortgage written off. No wonder house prices are so high and no wonder there is such poor choice. That is government policy. My advice to this lady is to get all her family, neighbours, friends to do a sit down protest if they try to evict her. Get someone with some knowledge of the law to offer a lot of bluster. And most importantly, if they evict you, be sure to get footage of them dragging you and your children kicking and screaming out of the property for all to see.
She doesn't have "children". She has 1 *adult* child.
This is lies, you can't get mortgage written off if your in default for 12 years. I know someone was in similar situation due to workplace accident and he was told to sell the house or it going be repossessed. He was in wheelchair.
