    You should do a disclaimer and let people know it's deenergized before you start for everybody safety
    Cause you was like what can you touch what can't you touch then you touched some stuff you shouldn't lol .

    On a Single Phase 120 / 240 VAC 200 Amp Service for Dwelling Units, Residential, Code allows 3-ought Conductors to be used for the Phases, the Un-grounded conductors and 2-ought for Neutral or ''grounded '' conductor if using 90* C THHN CU conductors.

    I like your videos. Not to be picky This is a single phase panel so there is only one transformer so the two hot wires are LINE ONE AND LINE TWO. I called them phase a and phase b also I have been in the trade since 1975 I went to a seminar from Tom Henry electrical class about 25 years ago That"s when he schooled us when we called them phase a and phase b

    What is meant by "200 amp" and "100 amp" panels? Is it the maximum current that can go into the panel and service all of the circuits that panel serves? Is it governed, limited, by the main breaker or simply that is the maximum current coming in fron the cables? IOW are the incoming cables the same for 100 and 200 amp panels and the difference the main breaker limit? These two panels look different in their internal construction. What is the brand of the first, 200 amp, panel?

    In a home with a 100AMP service, how do I determine which bus bar is for the ground and which is for the nutural . Especially when electricians used both bars for both the nutural and grounding systems? Why would they do that? They have both the nutural and ground wires from different circuits going into the same bus bars. Wouldn't it be simpler and more professional looking to keep them separated (a cleaner install)?

    Craig when do you use Ser vs Seu If you have a meter on the side of your house and your first means of disconnect is you main panel which is in the basement of your home what cable do you use to connect the meter to the main panel

    • @craigmichaud-electricalins4602
      @craigmichaud-electricalins4602  2 года назад

      Your meter with main breaker is first means of disconnect!! That point on to your panel you need to use SER!! CM

    • @Liquidmc516

      It's just a meter with no main breaker, panel is first means of disconnect

    • @craigmichaud-electricalins4602

      Then you will use SEU to your main panel!! SER would be for a sub panel. I read your question wrong I guess! Hope this helps!! CM

    Hello one question. Does the amperage capacity of the general switch depend on the capacity of the electrical panel conductors? If the electrical panel supports 200 amps, is that the maximum that the main switch should carry? I appreciate your response

    • @Sparky-ww5re
      @Sparky-ww5re Год назад

      The main breaker should be rated no higher than the panel rating which is determined by the thickness of the bus bars. For example you could have 4/0 AL SER cable good for 200 amps from the meter disconnect feeding a panel rated for 100 amps, but the breaker controlling that panel needs to be 100 amp. You sometimes run into this with the uncommon 300 amp service consisting of a 200 and 100 amp panels.

    On the 100 amp main breaker do you have 100 amps on each phase or total load on the breaker? and is it the same on the 200 AMP.

    I had a metal building built and we are putting in a 100 amp subpanel to supply power to the building, by connecting to the main panel in our home....approximately 70 feet away. We ran our conduit and wires thru before we realized we Failed to mark the wires. What is the safest way to find the hot wires? Please help.

    Hi Craig! Could you please produce a video or at least give your pro-opinion on SER cable. I'm wiring a 100 amp sub panel (80 ft run through attic), and I'm not honestly sure if aluminum is a decent product, albeit 1/3 the price of copper. I've always used copper for this application, 3-3-3-5, but do you believe a 2224 is dependable and long term, safe? Thank you!

    I am very interested in installing a sub panel in my detached shop. I want to put a 50 amp 240v volt in my house panel to feed my sub panel. I am running 80 feet from house panel using 6/3 ga underground burial direct earth wire although I want to enclose it in pvc conduit. I would love for you to guide me. Thanks in advance

      If you are using conduit, you should probably use individual conductors, like THWN-2 copper wires. Direct burial is meant for direct burial and might be hard to pull through conduit, and might be against some codes.

    Mine is about 20 years old. Some people say it's left and right.
    Others says it's staggered (each one going down alternates A and B).
    Im confused! But need to wire up my music studios outlets all on the same phase...
