Gene and Roger's criticism of Batman and Robin are exactly perfect. I was maybe 10 when it came out and...as Gene said of Clooney, the movie was "a good looking bore".
You want a reminder of how the social landscape has changed look no further than 'My Best Friend's Wedding'. It might not deliver a cliche upbeat ending, but it's a flick where a woman tries to ruin a wedding for her own delusional benefit and somehow everyone comes out better for it at the end. It's still very much predictable Hollywood female entertainment.
I was expecting them to absolutely crucify B&R. For once they actually downplayed how bad a movie was. I would've been one of the walkouts if I had seen it in the theatre.
Batman & Robin was terrible glad they voted Thumbs 👎. Hercules was an effective animated film, i loved James Woods as the voice of Haded he was terrific. My Best Friend's Wedding was an effective romantic comedy, i liked Julia Roberts, Dermot Mulroney & Cameron Diaz's performances
Their heated argument over Hercules has to be one of the best arguments of this show, although to be perfectly honest I gotta side with Gene on Hercules, I didn’t even care for that film, it was overrated in the first place and in my own opinion, it’s about as less fun as Princess Diana’s funeral. 😆😆😆
Agree with you there about Hercules, I never understood the appeal of that film although the disagreement between Gene and Roger over the film was hilarious.
@@oldfashionedguy1368 they needed to write Hercules as seriously as they had The Hunchback of Notre Dame the year before that (1996). I have heard since then that there was a lot of tension at Disney at the time between Jeffrey Katzenberg, John Musker, and Ron Clements. That had to have had an effect on how jokey and disjointed Hercules is.
I wonder if Gene and Roger are still arguing in the after life. 😄

LOL at them about to throw hands over Hercules
"I Won't Say I'm in Love" from Hercules is an earworm. I love Hunchback but I can't sing anything from the soundtrack from memory.
Gene was right about Hakuna matata
Many years later, Polly Walker became a familiar face on British TV as Gill Biggeloe in Line of Duty.
James Woods was great as Hades, and Denny Devito and Bobcat were fun. other than that the movie was meh. I'm with Gene on that one.
I miss these guys.
Wow they didn't obliterate batman and Robin as much as I thought they would.
They were TOO FUCKING KIND!!!!
Two thumbs up for *Speed 2: Cruise Control??*
they were the only major critics to recommend it..
lol

RIP to Joel Schumacher
He needs to burn in hell for Batman & Robin.

I totally agree with Gene about Hercules. Hercules needed to have a much more serious tone.
They went way too easy on the legendary stinkfest that was Batman and Robin.
There was some pleasure to derive from that silly film. I'll take B&R over Man of Steel any day of the week.
@@ricardocantoral7672 It's a toss up....
2007 quite a year for movies
batman and robin was the worse of the batman movies

Woods should have won an Oscar ages ago, even ghosts of Mississippi or the boost. Not great 🎥s but he was excellent in those 🎥s
I remember seeing Batman and robin in cinemas as a kid and wasn’t a fan of it straight away terrible maybe Batman forever was better

Hercules is awful. Batman And Robin is not a good movie at all, but it at least has a style model in the Adam West Batman screen franchise.
