One AMAZING USB Microphone - HyperX Quadcast
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 31 июл 2024
- The HyperX Quadcast is one of the most anticipated USB streaming microphones announced in the last year. At $140 it isn't cheap but as you'll hear in this review the sound quality produced by this mic is pretty epic, even when compared against the Blue Yeti series.

Hello there I'm Subbed to u ur channel is amazing
I'm in no need for a new microphone but I still appreciate the content. Keep up the great work guys!
Dont even need a microphone as I just got a blue snowball but had to watch just for the production quality
SHOCKLATE how good is the snowball?
SHOCKLATE yo dude same! Picked up mine last week!
PunjabiGamer snowball is great
RTICKTryhard thanks, was thinking about it as a first standalone mic
@@hb2434 get the fifine k670 instead it's better than the snowball and it perform the same as the blue yeti. It also costs the same as the snowball.
would've loved if you had done the keyboard and mouse sound test with the other three mics!!!!!!
I am considering getting mic just because my default one is in the bottom of display on my laptop, this is very close to keyboard and all keystrokes are picked. But I think I would go for something with arm, so I can hang it close to me and away from keyboard.
It's a good review, but perhaps arm for this mic would help a lot by putting it not next to the keyboard but with keyboard being behind it?
@@mateuszk3210 you can always buy it after
@@mateuszk3210 you can remove the metallic one
I ended up getting Blue Yeti X mic with Compas arm and I am satisfied.
I love your videos, Super detailed and always love that you actually use the mic you are reviewing so we can hear how it sounds.
Noise suppression is as easy as adding an expander in OBS with a 3-4:1 ratio at -30db.
i try it but in my case its not really better, any other ideas? have even tried to put my mic more on my mouth and keyboard 30cm away from it...not better...help
Wait how do you do that, does it work with discord
The audio quality is pretty good, the yeti had a bit more bass, but I liked the overall design of the quadcast, and the better mute switch. I would like to hear it compared to the Rode NT-USB.
Better mute switch? The yeti is perfect man. A little touch button, yes touch, you just have on the front on the mic, it blinks when muted. I dont see any point in this mic unless its cheaper than the blue yeti ofc :)
the Hyper X still sounds better than the other mics he used in the video though.
@@Djuntas the blue yeti's mute button sucks compared to the quadcast imo. i hate my blue yeti's mute button bc it makes a loud ass audible click for everyone im in call with whenever i press it. where as the quadcast you just tap the mic and it mutes
@@gboles97 on top of that mine which is brand new not even a month old likes to get stuck and takes 1-3 clicks to work.
I have a full black yeti and i fucking hate the design for the most part :P, the yeti is far from perfect
I would have liked to have seen the keyboard/mouse test ran again with the microphone on a stand near the desk. Great video though! I was impressed by the quality of the microphone.

The visuals and camera work is always amazing in these videos. Fun to watch even if you don't care much about the product it self
OMG this thumbnail is awesome no clickbait and cool design GG man
I wish you had included a sample of the gain noise from the Yeti for comparison. My Yeti generates a ton of digital noise and it's really frustrating.
OOOHH That's amazing. Awesome stuff. HyperX QuadCast
this is one fine review. you did a great job making a platform to compare this mic to others
Great Video Bravo . i am a sound engineer and it's the first time i watch a video from zero till end !! Great Job .
It's your voice and not the mic that makes it great

@@magnuseriksen3386 dead thread ,sorry. It is because you cant upgrade from an usb unlike an xlr mic and you always have to start over when you want an better mic.
With less I rather have an xlr setup and that includes mic, popfilter, boom arm, audio interface, and headphones. But nothing wrong with this mic either and it seems like a nice choice.
i hope they release these like the cloud headsets with different color styles, like gunmetal with maybe a changeable lighting etc
A short story about this video being recommended on my feed.
So I have been looking for a new mic on youtube today. Was pretty much decided on the Yeti Nano. I saw this thumbnail and like some of you did too, I clicked on it. I scrolled to comments. saw people talking mainly about the cinematography. And yeah this guy is a legend with it. I'm buying this mic right now and I am not even halfway through the video LOL

Awesome b-roll as always guys!
I wish it had an XLR option. Fantastic review
I need a side by side of this vs the AT2035.
I like one sided fights.
AT2035 wins. No competition here to be seen.
Almost every single XLR mic will win over the HyperX Quadcast simply because it works with USB. With the AT2035 you need to buy an external amp to be able to use it. With this one, you don't. But it comes with a trade-off, of course. Sound quality. Watch this great video to understand why EVERY USB microphone will never be as good as an XLR. Search "Why the Blue Yeti Sucks" on YT.
@@MaksKCS The video that prompts a large number of viewers to buy a Blue Yeti 👀
Replace the AT2035 with the rode NT USB.
@@mechanicalmonk2020
What?
For $140 you could get a Behringer UMC22 audio-interface w/ phantom power, MXL 770, a single XLR cable, boom arm, and a pop filter.
This would sound a bit better, have more utility, and have slightly more sound isolation from keyboards, etc.
Looks like a very solid mic, and is fairly portable compared to said system, but for most people this is a bit of a reach as far as price.
@@MicaiahSopkovichSkates I could easily buy another condenser mic that is multi-pattern that is cheaper than the MXL 770.
Also, gain control and quality with an actual phantom power interface is FAR superior.
Hard to justify this unless you are constantly on the go, and even then, the Yeti is cheaper.
You've almost described my setup (Audiobox instead of Behringer) but I think this is more designed for those that strictly want a plug-n-play aspect. You and I may have more finely tuned setups, but I can imagine there are those who wouldn't want to deal with the hassle of figuring out sound levels and all of that.
I've always wanted to know how to set up one of these microphones. Every time I use it I just get a huge amount of background noise like my keyboard etc. When I watch streamers it's just their voice and it sounds so good. So how do you configure these microphones? Please make a video on this!
I think u convinced me to get this one when I get my mic
It looks better than the razer siren, +1.

Compare it to the AT2020! my XLR setup costed me ~140 euros so why not?
Comparing a USB microphone to and XLR setup would be the stupidest mic review. You should always get an XLR setup if you can.
XLR microphones are almost always superior to USB variants. No contest here.
well yeah i got it for 140 euros, there is also an AT2020 USB
@@meterora9332 AT2020USB+ sounds different from the AT2020 XLR. If you want to hear the comparison to AT2020USB, randomfrankp made a video where he compares them, although I don't really think his review is that accurate.
i picked up a rode nt-usb a few months ago, but i think this might replace it just because of that gain knob. that price is really good, too. incredible aesthetics as well! thanks for the review
Do you recommend a specific Microphone arm with this?
1. Using a boom arm will help
2. It's mostly a streaming mic, so using VST plugins such as noise gates is recommended
Otherwise good video
So early but don't know what to say
Lol
Paul Vogelberg Actually you do cause you said something
I love how you say the word "intimate"
They finally are releasing it! Been over a year.
HyperX Quadcast has the most options from all microphone and still sounds equally good to the other one.
The most options? It literally just has an ambient light compared to the Blue Yeti's. - Just ditch all of them and get an XLR mic.
@@joshblack269 honestly I 100% agree with you but my comment 7 months old and yeah you're right!
Don't make the mistake buying a condensator microphone. Get a dynamic one instead. Less background noise, better vocals.
Can you explain me the difference between both
Rarch: Dynamic ones "activate" when sound of its Dynamic Range hits it whilest condensators always "Listen" and therefore record much background noise or are in General more sensitiv.
If you want to go the dynamic USB mic route: Samson Q2U and ATR2100 are great choices right now.
@@ll-mel Which one is better of these?
Quadcast sounded so silky smooth and the most natural to me.
Love this channel. Helped me choose my headphones a couple years ago, and now here I am again to choose a mic.

Blue yeti or hyperx quadcast??
They both sound great and there's really no difference I guess it all comes down to which one looks better to you personally I prefer the hyperx look
@@AldoG10 thank you for the information! 😉
I felt like the Yeti had more presence than the Hyper X. The low end was definitely better on the Blue Yeti. Mids sounded clear and defined and the Highs were crisp and clean. The Hyper X still sounded pretty good though. Though the Mids sounded a little muddy to me and the lows were not that great. It's still better than that mini Yeti and the headset mic for sure.

haha, oh how times change! :D
Yeti pro having the ability to go analog out to stereo L/R XLR is a huge advantage as well as the headphone level. Completely different price point I know but if you're wanting the best USB mic that has that level of flexibilty, IMO you really get what you pay for. Would have liked to hear this HyperX vs the Rode NT-USB though. Seems to be another direct competitor.
Also moving your keyboard and mouse behind the microphone help to cut there sounds in cardiod microphones are less sensitive from the back.

Hi I need help , I bought hyper quadcast microphone I am trying record a podcast using my android phones I cannot hear myself during the recording both of my headphones are not working what should i do?
You can purchase an XLR MIC/a cheap mixer for the same price, which would blow the Quadcast's quality out of the water, meaning: there's literally no reason to buy this mic.
Compactness?
Still, for sake of interest could you suggest an alternate set?

Mini usb in 2019
*nope*
I think sometime after ryzen 4th gen and maybe rx 700 series I'll begin to do a huge overhaul and go for huge upgrades along with this red and black mic and red and black setup in general.
Does it support wireless headsets?
I just got the Quadcast, and I have a HyperX Cloud Flight wireless headset.
I plugged in the Quadcast, and when I tried to listen to Spotify or RUclips, there's no sound coming from the headset.
Does it just not support wireless headsets, or do you have to have a separate "thing" to attach to your headset and Quadcast for it to work with the wireless headsets?
Not an audio expert but sounds dry.
Eesh. Yet another overpriced USB mic. For less than $140 you can get an entry-level XLR microphone and a DAC and sound much better.

@@SullySadface there won't be one, instead there will be talk of eBay and Craigslist
@@mechanicalmonk2020 Numerous options exist. One example would be to pair a Shure SM48 ($40 on Amazon) with a Behringer UMC22 ($60) all for about $100.
@@mechanicalmonk2020 Behringer UM2 and AT2020. Less than $140.
@@paninimelt Literally bought this combo. So far it's producing sub par sound (I believe the AT2020 to be a competent mic so the issue is likely with the UM2).
No matter what the gain is set on the interface, with all gains set to max on the computer's side it never produces audio that comes even near the max possible recording volume. The interface does some weird internal clipping so when gain is set high all I get is clipped garbage which is expected but what gets recording is relatively "quiet" clipped garbage ... wth?
Also with this combo the mic ends up being significantly less sensitive than my Yeti. On the yeti I usually need to set the physical gain to minimum and then set the software gain to like 30% which is enough to not pick up my ambient noise. Then I can get close to the mic and talk normally and get excellent audio. With this setup, setting the gain of the Behringer UM2 to almost the max I can without getting clipping and setting the software gain to max in audacity/my computer, I HAVE to get really close to the mic and then talk LOUDER than I would need to to get to the same level.
Like I said before, these issues are very unlikely to be related to the AT2020, which implies that a better interface is needed.
So if you cannot adjust the volume on the headphone monitoring, how loud will it be if I still use it?
I have a question. What would be the reason for a popping noise when I’m not talking when using the hyper x mic? It doesn’t make the sound when I’m talking it’s just when Im silent or right after I stop talking it has this popping noise. Any ideas? Thanks!
I wanna wait until they come out with a blue version but I’m not sure if they’ll come out with one
Not to much about the missing noise cancelation, because you can always use a "open" and "close" configuration and some dB, then sounds that is more away or lows, they will not open the sound, and if you speak, then the mic will open the income sound.
Would this be an issue with sennheiser hd6xx headphones? Will the open back leak noise and be picked up by the mic?
Came for the mic review, stayed for the amazing video production.
Hi Dmitry!
Thanks for the great review, I've just bought the RGB one, and I'm having a big issue with it, and support said that Mac isn't supported and they recommended that I get the one you're presenting. I'm curious if this one would have the same problem, that somehow was unnoticed or maybe not many Mac users have this mic. I suspect it does have the same issue, because the only difference is "one is RGB, the other one isn't"... oh, and the rgb one has usb-c port.
Anyway, so... my issue with the RGB one is: as long as the microphone is plugged in to a USB port, my MacBook never goes to sleep. If I click "Sleep" from the menu, the (external) monitor turns off but then, right away, the microphone lights up again in a few seconds. Then it keeps doing that (the mic lights turn on/off every 10 seconds or so) and the laptop stays warm all the time, even though the (external) monitor doesn't actually turn back on, somehow the laptop doesn't really sleep. If I unplug the microphone, then everything works as expected, the laptop also stays cool and it really sleeps when I put it to sleep. Everything was also working as expected with a previous usb microphone that I had, so it's no an OS issue or a background app of some sort that would continuously listen for audio input. Not sure if this matters, but my MacBook is always plugged in (connected with a single Thunderbolt cable to my LG 34WK95U-W monitor, for everything: charging, video signal and peripherals; all peripherals - mic, keyboard, camera etc. are connected to the monitor, which also acts as a hub) and I keep my MacBook lid closed all the time. But it's the same setup as with the previous mic, when everything was working fine.
P. S. I've also tried muting the mic before putting the laptop to sleep, but it doesn't change anything (except the microphone lights don't turn on, but the laptop still doesn't sleep, it stays warm forever).
Sound wise to me the full size Yeti came out on top with the Hyper-x and nano near identical . If this mic came out 8 months ago I may have picked it up for my setup as I went with the nano when I upgraded from a headset mic.
Nice to see that you have a good reading list
I have one question. I won’t be able to get a boom arm for a while so what will it sound like if I put my mic by my keyboard. How load will that be and how quiet will I be? What settings will I have to use?
Which Polar pattern would you suggest using for gaming/talking?
Comprei um hoje. Estou esperando chegar! Deve ser muito bom!
That thing is huge, I actually just bought an audio Technica at2020, I would usually be sad that a new option came right after buying but I'm not at all. I love my at2020
That rhyme and intro is sick
Looks dope! Would like to see red themed setups with this.
I dig the sound quality, if they can just update it and at least give the option to change/disable lighting options I'd be interested.
Great review !
Does anybody know the song that plays during the b-roll in the beginning?
Something that I thought would have been good to include would have been, what are the price of the blue microphones? Do they have noise cancellation? What do they sound like with a loud keyboard? Other than that, it was solid review as usual.
