    Just wanted to mention you can go down to a Oriellys autoparts and pick up a very similar 1/4 drive ratchet with a case and bits for $14. all i did was use a angle grinder to cut/shave it to fit the Leatherman

    Hours of fun. If im being honest though a small tool box with a careful selection of proper tools gets jobs done easier. The multis are great when youve got nothing else and they are fun.

    Do you think the Volty will also work with the Daicamping DL30?

  • @blade9292
    @blade9292 Год назад +4

    I do like the fact there is 1/4 inch parts because we can use these in pretty much any multitool with 1/4 " adapters or with actual bit drivers.
    I also enjoy the fact people have made parts like this for either leatherman or other tools because making a kit with these allows some nice versatility with compact space.
    That's why I do like modular slots with multitools. I bet if there is a 1/4" slot with some retention possibilities like saws, brushes, and other tools can be made because there will be no reason to be limited.
    As for the electrical tool this is neat and the make me wish more for proper electrician multitools.

    A battery tester & electrical finder - such wonderful mod. In ours we use the laser pointer, it also reads temperature. The other tools basically standard nevertheless great additions. The pick/scriber & brush are great cleaning tool for firearms & vehicle electrical connections. There is an adaptor that's available & fit on that ratchet enable usage of non proprietary Leatherman bits & extras. Extends capability - that's why we enjoy watching your show. Great to see a master at work. May we suggest using magnets within the sheath so there's not rattling? It secures those additions. Marvelous show as always. Cheers cobber from Australia.

    I have the Volty Switch and mine wouldn't fit the Arc when closed due to the retaining clip under the bit holder. Did you find a solution for that or do you just carry it separate from the Arc?

    • @blade9292
      @blade9292 Год назад +1

      I don't think this will happen right now. the surge and the wave are old designs the arc is new. So they either have to make an original design or use what they copied and add improvements.
      But I understand so much the cost problem of the free series from Leatherman...

    The Volty is really cool.
    But, US$42 for $5 worth of parts is INSANE !!!
    Not at all impressed with the other tools either. Sometimes a huge heavy plug in handle makes a simple tool worse ! makes

    • @TurkishKS
      @TurkishKS Год назад +1

      I don't know about the cost of the parts, but typically people want to get paid for the time they spent designing, developing, prototyping, perfecting, marketing, producing, and selling their products, and then on top of that, will attempt to price the product in such a way as to maximize and balance purchasing and profits, to get paid fairly based on the market for similar items with similar functionality, to get paid fairly for the convenience provided for assembling those ”$5 worth of parts" as you said (as not everyone has the prowess/skillset/desire to do so), and to justify the work they put into the steps previously mentioned. Even if the associated costs of doing those steps were $0 per unit (which they most definitely are not), a 700% mark-up is not atypical in the current economic climate for relatively cheap specialty consumer goods.

    $230, Really. Its worth about half that. Besides, I wont buy any more Leatherman tools. I bought a multitool that has a manufacturing flaw with it, and they refuse to fix or warranty it. Im done with them.

    • @jeremywoodall9800
      @jeremywoodall9800 6 месяцев назад +1

      Really? You must be leaving some context out of your comment. I work with about 25 people who carry leatherman multi tools on them daily. I have seen at least ten multi tools sent back to leatherman for various reasons, and I have personally sent three in myself for repairs over the past 20 years etc. a few of them were clearly misuse of the tool that resulted in negligent damage including a bent frame of charge tti that I ran over with my truck… every single time leatherman either repaired the tool, or in cases where the tool was a legacy model no longer made, the company replaced it with a newer higher priced model. No questions asked in all instances. Don’t believe the haters who would rather carry a SOG because they don’t want to pay the premium price for a premium tool…. However, that all being said, if your experience is genuine and you’re not leaving something out, I would recommend sending it back in a second time and I would bet you’d have a different result. Maybe you just got an employee that was having a bad day.
