The Greatwood Hurdle. Burdette Road is very well handicapped off 133. His rating on the flat has gone up 9lbs this year. Won a listed race and finish 5th in a group 2 in October, which means he will be fit. Since the spring to now being only a 4 year old, he will have strengthened. I put him as a 142-plus horse on his return off a mark of 133. The trainer said they have learned him how to settle better on the flat this season. They have said he is aimed at the Greatwood. Out of a novice and straight into a big handicapped off an attractive mark.
@RatingTheRacesMakeASmarterBet I must have been looking at his rating from last year. I still think Burdette Rd has more potential. Mick Fitzgerald always said add 40 to their flat mark, but to be more conservative, adding 30 will give him a potential mark of 139 off 133. And take into account the energy the horse would lose by being too keen in his races. The trainer Owens said they had gotten him to settle better. When he was beaten by Sir Gino, he was too keen, I am not saying he would have beaten Sir Gino but think the 10 lengths he was beaten by would have been less.
I never said I listened to Mick Fiztgerald I gave him as a reference of converting flat or into jumps handicap rating. He says 40lb, and others say 30lb to be added. It is not an exact science, but seeing the improvements on the flat, I am sure will see those improvements over the jumps with Burdette Rd. There will be a few novices coming into handicap company who will be well handicapped. I find it strange that Be Aware lost its shoes on its last 2 races. If Lump Sum runs on Saturday in the Elite Hurdle, he won't turn up. Next Monday, we will see the first cut-up of the runners and shortening prices.
8:58 @RatingTheRacesMakeASmarterBet I never watch the opening show. If anything, they will talk rubbish and put you off a winner. The opening show is the biggest load of rubbish to watch. The Betfair Podcasts and all the bookie sponsored podcasts are there to give you losers. Daryl Carter who I had respect for before he joined Betfair, Kevin Blake is a total joke. Picks an Irish and always only talks about Joseph O'Briens horses but never picks a winner. Dan Barber what can I say. How Tony Calvin Ever became a tipster is beyond me. Believe me when I say I pick my own horses. I watch horses for races months in advance and most of my bets are anti post and sometimes a year in advance. Burdette Rd is my own choice. 1 he is aimed at the race, 2 he will be fit, 3 his improvements on the flat suggest he will be ahead of his mark, 4 he is settling better.
Thanks for all the hard work
You are very welcome.

Good luck
Will be aware get in off his mark. The minimum mark to get in is around 128 to 129.
He's rated 130. Currently 24th on list (max of 20). Likely to be some defections.
