  • It took me some time to figure out what this box is. It is the power antenna controller / timer! Modern universal power antennas do not need this. All they need is constant 12v power, ground and 12v ACC / accessories coming off of the deck in the Pathfinder / car / vehicle.
I forgot to mention in the video. I did the same multimeter test behind the box with the same reading and back and forth power. Also, when I was testing the stock front Clairon 4 channel amp ... when I ran a two way full range speaker directly from the tweeter wires on the A pillar and only got high frequencys ... I also tried running wires directly from the back of the amp tweeter channel to a full range speaker and also only got high frequencys. No capacitor or crossover is between the amp and tweeter.
If you are interested in more details and a demonstration take a watch.

I am glad this helped. It could be your controller is bad and you might find a used one at a junk yard or on ebay. Replacment antennnas have the controler built in so you can bypass this and run directly from a aftermarket radio. You may be able to find a oem style power antenna that is still working ... I am not sure.
Here is what I did to fix mine.

This aftermarket antenna was easy to install and affordable. Build quality was not that good. Maybe I got a bad one. It still works but I think a different brand of this same style may be a better option.
      Have a great day!

      Hi,
I am not totally sure how the original wires work. There is power, ground and acc. I believe the two blue wires are up and down power for the stock antenna. Like the polarity switches to make the motor in the stock attend go up and down. I think there is also a timmer built into this box.
New or aftermarket antennas don't need this as power and ground are hooked up constant. When a acc signal from the radio is on this tells the antenna to power up and extend out. When the acc signal from the radio is no longer present or turned off the new antenna knows to retract. So all the up and down circuts are built into the new antenna. The new antenna also has a timmer built in so the motor is not constantly running. There is also a clutch of some sort built into the new antenna so gears are not stripped.
Here is the video of me putting in a new power antenna.

      I hope this helps
