The best boardgame related sound for me is the sound of the doorbell when I'm expecting a new game delivery. Cue me running to the door with excitement!
Best boardgaming sound is when you make little drumming noises to build the tension while slowly moving a piece across the table into combat.
The best board game sound for me is taking the wrapper of the new game, the smell and excitement of about to be taking the lid of something fun never gets old.
That's a great sound for me too, because if you don't like it, you will sell it in awesome condition at a reasonable price.
Great comment, and I absolutely agree. Love that sound (and smell) 😃
Thank you for your time and honesty. Two characteristics that in our days are trully under-rated. This is why I chose you for patronship and I will never stop supporting you
Funny you mention Mage Knight, you sold me a copy of the 1st edition many years ago, you included print outs of player aids and Errata as well. Still own that copy.
That was about 12 years ago now :)
I'm sorry, the tea bag has to be removed before adding the milk, only heathens add milk though. ;-)
Can't speak for others but for me, it was power grid that opened the door to heavy games
I love dice rolling across a board too, especially if it's a whole handful!
You may be right about Terraforming Mars. Looking back it's probably the first properly heavy game that I played and loved, and it was definitely a friend's mum's proper intro to heavy games too.
Blood on the Clocktower is not suitable for gamers either at a birthday party. I wouldn't attend that bday party the second time :)
The Paul Grogan demo teach (patent pending) works for me, I sat down to UKGE Galactic Cruise and felt pretty overwhelmed just looking at the board, but Paul's scripted demo worked well to get us all going and feeling comfortable (well i was comfortable)
I'm going to have to say Picard as I've not watched a huge amount of Star Trek although I'm starting on the more modern series now. My surprise of the UKGE show was Joyride, Rebellion Unplugged, right next to Dranda Games. It was absolutely brilliant, best light racing game I've ever played and made me whistful for the hours spent messing with Battlecars as a kid. My favourite bit was Paul teaching us Galactic Cruise, excellent game and great teach, I'm really looking forward to that game arriving.
I loved Battlecars as a kid. I still have it in the attic. Fond memories.
@@GamingRulesVideosYou should take a look at Joyride if you haven't already. It's taken the idea of Battlecars crossed with Mad Max and Mario Kart added in modern game design ideas and packaged it beautifully. I was so impressed with the whole package they had on show. It's out around October/November time I think once it's delivered to backers.
@@MrJonnyalpha I was informed by one of the designers that it isn't a game I would enjoy. Whilst I have fond memories of Battlecars, I think my time for those games has passed, but what you are saying makes it sound semi-appealing.
Sound: Box fart or metal coin (Xia)!
Favourite sound: nothing tops the clinketty-clink of metal coins!
IMO there's something great about dice falling down a tower.
It also has a satisfying feel to it... and a great way to fidget when you are waiting for the other players to take their turns...
Undaunted is a non-wargamers friendly WARGAME which made wargames accessible to ALL
46:44 Thank you for answering my question. I suppose "What is a wargame?" can be a very subjective question,. My definition has changed over time Starting out with any game that uses a map sectored off in a grid and that uses cardboard counters (my first Avalon Hill's "War at Sea" in 1978) which today includes so much more and agentively so much less, (2 years ago I rejoined the boardgame hobby and my gateway game back was GMT's "Space Empires 4x" which I'm told now is not a wargame it is a 4x game, so okay fine). In any case I consider the Undaunted series, which I learned to play from your (thank you) to be acceptable as a war game even though some argue it is not.
Captain Kirk
Thanks for watching. However, if you meant to enter the contest, you need to do it via the link in the description :)
Are you still planning on a aeon trespass odyssey how to play?
That exact question was asked during this live Q&A :)
@@GamingRulesVideos1:01:20 time stamp! Also great news and I can’t wait!
@@cjpny1455 Thanks for finding it.
OMG. I hate Mysterium. It could be so good but it is so confusing and way to over-complicated
Yes the end game rules are so bad
@@RasmusNicolajWest As mentioned in the video, do NOT play with the English version of the rules. They ruin the game.
Original Ukranian rules are best.
@@GamingRulesVideos Have to brush off my ukranian language skills then :D
