I started baking applesauce bread in college, a recipe from a vegetarian cookbook that a friend had given to me. So easy to make, so AMAZING to smell as it is baking. I started to add more spices to the batter to get creative. Of course, cinnamon, but I would also add cloves, ginger, and nutmeg. Quick breads are so yummy and easy to make, so you will enjoy them often! 🦋

I'm home sick with my littlest guy today and watching this wonderful vlog was relaxing for me! Any time in the kitchen is therapeutic to me. Love the cake recipe. I bet it would be good with cream cheese as well. In the past, Ive force bloomed hyacinths using a large crystal bowl, pea gravel & water. Made a beautiful large bouquet for my coffee table. Since my home is open concept, the scent throughout the house was fabulous. Thank you, Kevin, for reminding me. I think I will do it again using the vases I can get from amazon. I have been making applesauce bread since college. Walnuts are a great addition. Try raisins too. During Christmas time, I would add some cranberries and sprinkle the tops with green colored decorator sugar, then give away the cakes as Christmas gifts to neighbors and friends. Enjoy!

We live on the fifth floor, but have one of those stackable planters on the balcony with herbs. And now you've given me the correct word when I go out with the scissors. I'll tell my husband, "I'm going to go harvest." 🥰
I find all the activities you did in this episode very relaxing and rewarding. We are forcing bulbs this winter for the first time. I am currently using the forcing vases to root geranium cuttings. Kevin, what a beautiful area of the country you live in so nice and green and the flowers so beautiful. Me, I live in a desert area of west Texas everything is brown landscape and boring. If we want green grass, it must be watered profusely and only on certain days because of the water restrictions. Same thing with flowers 🌸 🌺 but sadly they take a beating and get scorched during the summer in over 10 degree weather. Thank you for your applesauce bread recipe. oh I haven’t read the Joy Luck Club in years! it was mandatory as part of my English Lit class in college. Good book! Great video! I wish Tierra Farms shipped to Canada. I never grew those bulbs. The prices this year are double on bulbs. I hope it changes. I loved that bush with purple berries and purple crocus! I wish I could get those as my garden is dead only my roses and hydrangea are still blooming. Your bread looked delicious I will make it tomorrow. Good Morning from California! I just want to thank you for all your videos. I love cooking, gardening and creating, just as you do. Growing up in England, we were taught how to grow bulbs in junior school. I remember the school selling the bulbs and then we were shown how to plant them. Then after planting the bulbs in pots we would take them home and put them into a dark closet for a few weeks. I would carry my pot into school once a week to show how the bulbs were growing. I liked to grow crocus, then I would plant them in our garden when they were finished blooming. In California, I've had success with growing beautiful gladiolus. Dame Edna would be proud of me!

I've never tried forcing Hyacinths but usually fail with daffodils. Now I know where I've probably been going wrong: like the former they will need a spell of cold and dark. Hi Kevin, I found your hyacinth bulb method interesting. For years I’ve bought hyacinth bulbs about this time and I refrigerate the bulbs until Christmas. Then I take them out wrap them in tissue paper and give them as gifts to friends and family. Over the years I’ve given them in terracotta pots or a hyacinth bulb vase. They’ve always bloomed for whoever I give them to.
I read "Joy Luck Club" quite a long time ago, but really enjoyed the book immensely--great author. Relaxing to me: Baking (more so than cooking), working in the yard/garden, and having the time to read. Thanks for another outstanding video. 💗

I have been making applesauce bread since college. Walnuts are a great addition. Try raisins too. During Christmas time, I would add some cranberries and sprinkle the tops with green colored decorator sugar, then give away the cakes as Christmas gifts to neighbors and friends. Enjoy!

Kevin, what a beautiful area of the country you live in so nice and green and the flowers so beautiful. Me, I live in a desert area of west Texas everything is brown landscape and boring. If we want green grass, it must be watered profusely and only on certain days because of the water restrictions. Same thing with flowers 🌸 🌺 but sadly they take a beating and get scorched during the summer in over 10 degree weather. Thank you for your applesauce bread recipe. Good Morning from California! I just want to thank you for all your videos. I love cooking, gardening and creating, just as you do. Growing up in England, we were taught how to grow bulbs in junior school. I remember the school selling the bulbs and then we were shown how to plant them. Then after planting the bulbs in pots we would take them home and put them into a dark closet for a few weeks. I would carry my pot into school once a week to show how the bulbs were growing. I liked to grow crocus, then I would plant them in our garden when they were finished blooming.
In California, I've had success with growing beautiful gladiolus. Dame Edna would be proud of me!

I've never tried forcing Hyacinths but usually fail with daffodils. Now I know where I've probably been going wrong: like the former they will need a spell of cold and dark. Thank you very much for that tip. It's too late now this year to start unless I just wanted to be a week or so ahead of Spring next year.

I found your hyacinth bulb method interesting. For years I’ve bought hyacinth bulbs about this time and I refrigerate the bulbs until Christmas. Then I take them out wrap them in tissue paper and give them as gifts to friends and family. Over the years I’ve given them in terracotta pots or a hyacinth bulb vase. They’ve always bloomed for whoever I give them to.
I read "Joy Luck Club" quite a long time ago, but really enjoyed the book immensely--great author. Relaxing to me: Baking (more so than cooking), working in the yard/garden, and having the time to read. Thanks for another outstanding video. 💗
Kevin, as soon as I saw what you were baking today, I decided to put a loaf in the oven this evening after baking our Sunday dinner. It is in the oven as I write this.
