I wish people would honestly stop trying to discredit Debelah by bringing Mariah every single time same with Minnie , Desiree etc , Mariah is great chile , both are great vocalists but in terms of technique Debelah , Anyway im so obsessed with her i dont know how many times ive watched this video , Her ( Debelah ) vocal agility and control are insane and i love how connected her range is from top to bottom and her fiotura is obsolutely amazing . Great job Kaji 👏👏❤
She sounds a LOT closer to Minnie riperton to me than anyone else, same level of lightness in the voice, extreme ease!!! Minnie had a more solid lower range, but didnt display this much agility( or maybe just didnt get to live long enough :(... ) , wish she lived longer.. love Debelah, shes gorg!!
She is an INCREDIBLE vocalist!!!! Her vocal agility reminds me of Mariah’s coloratura skills she has! She’s a really skilled vocalist! What’s her supported range at her best?
Mariah's got NOTHING on Debelah's fioratura ability. Debelah has a fully connected voice, top to bottom, and an excellent dynamic ability. Mariah has some good agility but not on this level. Debelah is a trained coloratura. Which explains it.
@@KajiVocals are u crazy? Hahahaha Mariah has better lows, belts and Whistle! One of the best agilities, musicality and range and I bet that the same mentioned in the video must be inspired by the mariah! Only you should better your concepts
@@Gui-mt2wu Mariah cannot connect her whistle down to chest nor can she crescendo into head voice from it. Yes, she has better lows but Debelah also has a scarily high childlike voice so I'm not sure why you expected their lows would be the same.... Belts, can't agree with you about this. Mariah may be chestier, fuller and what's not but Debelah has the technique in her belt and it is a free sound that she has preserved even to this day. She's in her mid 40s and her voice has not changed one bit. Mariah is a natural singer NOT a technical singer. And quite frankly, why the hell are you even talking about her lows, belts and whistle? We were talking about coloratura skill, not registers... Debelah is a classically-trained coloratura soprano... of course she will have a better coloratura... Mariah can do some staccati but it is not nearly as precise as a trained coloratura. Please use logic. That being said, Mariah has a way better discography from the songwriting standpoint in my opinion and her songs have more of a relisten factor than Debelah's. Debelah however has a better technique. Also booboo, they came out around the same time. How was she inspired by Mariah? She sang like this in 1990 already, and has been singing at church in the same style in the 80s as well.
Such an underrated & skilled vocalist. Her vocal agility is insane. Love how connected her voice is from top to bottom. That being said I hate the fact that her voice doesn't carry that much weight and can be very squeaky at times; which is probably why many folks never got into her sound (aside from the fact that most of her discography is mediocre). Wish she could've got better producers & found a more balanced sound when singing - perhaps this could've help her achieve longevity in Pop music. Last thing I heard from her was that she switched to gospel music (which seems to be something most artists who are commercial failures resort to; after things don't work out in mainstream music). Great job on the video as usual. 😊
She actually started in gospel (there is a clip used in this video from 1990 before her pop debut). and switched to R&B temporarily. She was quite successful in R&B. She was on the Billboard Hot 100 a few times. She still at times sings R&B but views gospel as her true calling. That being said, I agree that a lot of her catologue, while I would not call it mediocre, is repetitive. Her voice can carry a lot of weight in the middle and up to like E5 but she generally lightens for more ease. There are several weighty D5s used in this video.
She sounds a lil weird on some belts, like a pitched up toni braxton and some are like head voicy and her diction is a bit weird there too. Crazy flexibility and control though
I love your channel so much! Look forward to more videos. Don’t know if you take recommendations but I would love for you to look into Jazmine Sullivan.
This young lady's vocal abilities are second to no one , in a league of her own , when you hear such a blessed vocalist that is not a vocalist that can be compared to any other vocalist when I listen to this world class vocalist i hear a very unique wold class vocalist that as her own unique place in the world of female's vocalist, it's an absolute insult to complete this staggering vocalist to another artist, 🤌👏👏👏👑👑🎤🎶🎧
Whistle notes were great but that's it, I just couldn't get into her voice. I don't think I liked the mixing of classical and pop style. I think it could work but just not in this case.
@@KajiVocals Lmaooo, I love how you refused to take the bait and instead offered up an even more absurd suggestion about her voice-type lol. On a more serious note, Ms. Debelah's voice and skill-set are the glorious product of an ideal marriage between natural talent and supreme discipline and mastery of craft. She's one in a million, without a doubt!

I'm back 🤣 omg her agility and light mix
Amazing contemporary coloratura soprano!
Her tone on the belts (Eb5 ish and up) reminds me a lot of Ariana, just clearer perhaps?

Also I'm sure!! she has access to the seventh octave, just never explored it in recordings/live.
She is an INCREDIBLE vocalist!!!! Her vocal agility reminds me of Mariah’s coloratura skills she has! She’s a really skilled vocalist!
What’s her supported range at her best?
Her entire range here is controlled. I wouldn't call her lower range below F3 particularly present though.

@@KajiVocals Thanks.
Great underappreciated singer. Crazy agility. She sounds like a polished version of Ariana Grande, especially in high belts.
i agree people keep saying no
How did the comments end up being about Mariah I-
that’s what i’m trying to see
Why does her ease reminds of ariana and wtf her ease on her F - G area
Btw I'll be waitin for jed madela vid?
I love your channel so much! Look forward to more videos. Don’t know if you take recommendations but I would love for you to look into Jazmine Sullivan.
Thank you very much!! Definitely gonna do a vid on Jazmine!!
@@KajiVocals Awesome can’t wait!
Her belts are very light. This proves that M1 chest belts can still be light. She's a lot like Ariana in that aspect.
Way clearer and with more depth than Ariana.

Can you do the kierra sheard vocal evolution?
Vivified Vocals is gonna upload one soon!
Wonderful
Tonéx aka B.Slade’s voice evolution is coming soon
Might do that one at one point! Though eversince he closed his Bandcamp doing a vid on him is near impossible.
Kaji, are you familiarized with Brandi Carlisle's voice? What are your thoughts about her belting technique?
would you consider doing a vocal range video on Michael McDonald ?
Maybe. I'm not super familiar with him though.

3:52 I swear that's a d3
There's a vocal onset as low as Eb3 but overall she hit a flat E3. She was aiming for an Eb3 though.
@@KajiVocals I'm pretty sure it's a d3 idk
@@kevindurbin7412 Well, I slowed it down 10 times and looked in the spectrogram and what's not and it doesn't come close to the frequency of a D3.
@@KajiVocals ok 🙈
I wonder what happened to her 💔 she's has no social media
She married a pastor and became a gospel singer.
is her insane agility due to her coloratura training?
I’d guess so
What do you think about Caroline Polachek ? Also Diamanda Galas
Idk her

Which notes are in M3 whistle? Are some of those G6s in whistle?
Most above F6 are whistles.
You cannot heart this comment I'm afraid, move along.
she don't have C#3 in studio?
No. Mislabelled note.
@@KajiVocals 😐
What does A#3 mean?
A-sharp 3. Same thing as B-flat 3 but different key. Sharps and flats are never together in a key.
@@KajiVocals ok
How many octaves is 7 semitones?
It is under an octave.
isn't she a sopranino?
Yes
Is she a dramatic mezzo?
Dramatic kavaliermezzoalto soubrette with extended lower range.
