    Walmart has a lot of good deals because they buy in extreme bulks, and ship them out to stores in the most messed up way. I worked at a Walmart distribution center and ended up walking out because of all the messed up things they were doing. They have you watch a saftey video on how the trucks should be loaded, but then when you work you actually get in trouble for doing those things because they arent fast enough. They make all their employees sign an NDA lol

    Because it is only worth maybe $400 to begin with. The markup on stuff is very high. They typically sell stuff at 40% above what they buy it for. So if the computer was listed as $569 then they got it for $340. If it doesn't sell and it is taking up space, they prefer to sell at a loss than have ship it back at a loss.

    • @Default78334
      @Default78334 Год назад

      That's not an unusual markup. Typical rule of thumb is every time goods change hands, the price doubles. A item that comes to you from a store for $400 basically needs to have a raw material cost of no more than $100 for the manufacturer, distributor, and retailer to make any sort of profit.

  • @tATuCentral

    Having worked retail, sometimes corporate will decide not to carry something in store anymore. Instead of sending things back, some just go on extreme clearance just to get rid of it. That’s how I got an iPad Pro for $200 where I worked at the time.

    • @chrisbaker8533
      @chrisbaker8533 Год назад +3

      Sometimes it's not even corporate but the store itself.

      Or vice versa.

    • @wnxdafriz
      @wnxdafriz Год назад +2

      @@chrisbaker8533 well there are a few reasons behind it, debt allowable per store, available shelf space, etc... for example when in charge of an electronics department i was in a store that did almost same revenue as the other store (but based on location in the city and traffic we were rated as more or less a B level store versus the other as A level)
      but the stores were physically different sizes... so we had less stock due to being a B store versus A (based on predictions) and our rent due to location was cheaper and a bigger building... outside of electronics most of our clearance was higher than the other store but we had a lot more extra shelf space
      electronics was different but that was because most electronics were rapidly evolving/getting better year after year and you didn't want to get stuck with a far inferior product when the new one was out and possibly better and cheaper... (happened with digital cameras alot back then), also my designated space in electronics was actually smaller than the counterpart due to hookups at the store

    Not a wallyworld employee, but I've known about this stuff for about 6 months. NOTE: What's on clearance is fully dependent on the store. Also, to get the deals, you must checkout in electronics. Normally, there is a table setup in front of the registers in the electronics section that has clearance items. (Some items are not on the table, the large ticket items.) But basically... they are wanting to get this stuff gone so they have been offering an extra 50% off the clearance price. I've gotten so much stuff that it's not even funny. Logitech headsets ($8), cable modems ($30), WiFi Routers ($16), WiFi light bulbs ($3-$5), and other things.

    Walmarts in my area all have dedicated closeout aisles, but they also have closeout shelves in places like tools, electronics, auto supplies, etc. These are usually on the back side of aisles facing away from the main part of the store, so only people wandering the back aisles ever see them. Electronics might keep theirs in a cage but those cages also usually look like a pile of boxes shoved in there. Easy to obscure what's actually there. As for the logic behind the pricing, overheard a department manager telling one of their workers that every department has a budget to use for closeouts and they keep rolling back the price all the way to the at-cost price if that's what it takes to move it and they have the budget to do it. They were talking about unsold watches going on markdown in that case and I didn't hear it all. But that approach does fit how they do markdowns. They would rather get rid of stuff that does not sell and bring in new merch that will sell.

    Same story happened with the Razer Kraken Headphones I bought. Normally £100 but got it for £15 because they were thrown in the back of the Warehouse for weeks although the store stopped selling them.

I still haven't even opened the included monitor or e-waste mouse and keyboard lol.
    That said, selling a system these days with an HDD boot drive and a single stick of RAM in a dual channel capable system should be illegal. Had I paid the original $500-$600 they were asking as it was originally spec'd, I would have promptly returned it. No wonder they were on clearance.

    80 plus bronze power supply = illegal to import to 5 US states, which require gold by law now. Might be why it is in the bargain bin; not worth the cost of storing over the winter. The space could go for higher profit items.

    • @slightlyaboveaveragebutaverage
      @slightlyaboveaveragebutaverage Год назад

      Really you could get these specs in an Acer machine for cheaper. It's odd that the efficiency rating has been made illegal in certain states, because the whole efficiency rating label is a huge scam. Bronze can be just as efficient as gold (or whatever gimmick they have now that's higher). And vice versa. Manufacturers can just keep retrying for a better rating if they chose to do so. To make any law surrounding it sounds pretty typical though. A lack of understanding aimed at protecting the consumer. Could be worse I suppose.

    I have to vouch for them as they are correct this was on clearance in Florida too. I seen it for $275, but although it had I3 Q4 R8 SSD256G, UHD 600 4K @60Hz. I decided against it. Now it's like $449, but you know Walmart prices are always dropping. They have the PC tower only for $135 to $195 but from third-party. Reb/scratch dent. I like new I use to get Reb ACER DX years ago. Changed out the CPU, ram, HDD to SSD, PSU, drop Home to PRO.

Try coconut creek and western Pompano Beach both are huge mega Supercenter Walmart. If I was you, I would check stores you wouldn't dare to go too. I use to that and found huge deals with electronic manager can reduce prices only. I was surprise the prize was so low to include the monitor.

    Mouse and keyboard combos 20 bucks
    Desktop is probably about 120 bucks. These machines are super cheap but get the job done. I like the laptops wallyworld has. 100. Bucks for i3 laptop with 1080p screen. Why not

    Basically did this exact same thing for my daughters first gaming pc 2 years ago. Got a good prebuilt with a mid tier intel cpu and decent about of ram. Then slapped a gpu in that biznitch and called it santa. Ive upgrade the gpu once when a really really good sale happend on a newer series card and its been fine. Recently she's complaining of slow downs and the like but i checked out her desktop and she literally has a icon on every square inch hahaha. Told her we would do a wipe of it soon and if its still not performing well with her games after the wipe ill look into upgrading next year. I think with amd introducing a new series the refurb and used market will be great to pick something up to throw together low budget. Man once she actually play AAA titles on the regular and needs frames ill build her a real pc to last a while but spending like 250$ plus 80$ for xmas then another 120$ a year later for a better gpu that probably will be able to xfer to the next rig is far better than building the 1200 future proof machine i had initially planned

    Brickseek looks at walmart (and some other store inventories) and you see this intel i-3, or low-end ryzen systems (with complete set-up) pop-up between $200-$300 at times. It's very regional and limited and varies store to store. Last year there was basically an I3-10100 version of this that was hard to find, but ended up discounted to $250 at times.

    Ok. I will explain this. First off, my qualification: 20 year purchasing agent for this company. When you deal with hundreds and hundreds of thousands of products, mistakes are made all through the chain. Someone misses a period or reads the wrong line entering prices after 7 1/2 hours of reading the same looking papers. If you get a deal, understand if it is fixed fairly quickly. Department Managers (called something else now in thee system) know what things in their areas SHOULD cost. They price these products daily and there is a report tool right on their handheld. So while the price may get fixed.. it is doubtful to be over this video.

      @@mechagenide9491 I wish. I don't use components like these anymore myself, but I still worry about the budget gamer out there. SFF video cards don't really exist unless it's something like that 6400, which is just a laptop GPU repurposed. It performs well enough, but really it's not much better than a GTX 980. I feel like we should be getting better than 7 year old performance out of a new card.
