He shouldn't have written for meatloaf. He should have insisted on money. But seriously, folks... Of all the many things I didn't know, that was one of them. Good ear, Fenom202!! Way to call that one! And thanks, mixy5179!!
Legend has it that quite recently Bonnie was on a normal commercial plane and people recognised her and begged her to sing one of her classics, which she did, and everyone joined in - but the Crew or Captain, on the grounds of health and safety, they were all made to stop. Very sad.
@@paulmellette8925 Wow! That's amazing! [EDIT: Sometimes I say stupid stuff, so rather than contributing to an already chaotic world, I've removed a bit of it that no one will miss whatsoever.]
For those under the age of 45, 1980s videos make absolutely no sense and are bizarre (the medium just started in the early 80s), but that is what makes them even better because they are so weird. I guess those of us that grew up on that music and videos, we are just used those types of videos. The music back then was so diverse and good.
This was another 80s 'proof song' meaning if you liked someone you would always save them this song for a slow dance at school dances. This was one of the greatest songs of the 80! Great reaction This Is It!
She's one of the greatest vocalists in music history but quite underrated despite all her success. The song is a masterpiece. Jim Steinman was a genius.
Enjoy watching you guys. I have to agree. I have listened to and loved her singing this song for many years... but I have never seen the video before. Very, very odd.
8:32 The reason it reminds you of Meatloaf is because the person who wrote most, if not all, of the Bat Out Of Hell album also wrote this song. His name is (was?) Jim Steinman and in addition to the above, he also wrote the following hits: Making Love Out Of Nothing At All - Air Supply, Read ‘Em And Weep - Barry Manilow, and It’s All Coming Back To Me Now - Celine Dion. I’m sure people will add any I missed. I read up on him some years ago and if I remember correctly, I’m sure I’ll be corrected if I’m wrong, he wrote this song as part of a rock opera he was writing about vampires.
This video didn't seem so weird back in the day... at least not in my 9 year old brain. Haha! But it certainly hits different when you're older. 😂 Almost on the verge of inappropriate for some. For me, it's frickin' weird but I'm fine with it. The song on the other hand is fantastic. I love the rasp in her voice. You should check out Holding Out for a Hero next! I think you'll recognize it and love it. Much love from Oregon! ❤
Jim Steinman wrote and composed this song just for her, Bright eyes she was one of his favorite female vocalist's and also mine, Yes this is awesome and powerful, It is sad that Bonnie, JIM and MEATLOAF passed away in the same year...RIP HEROES....I'M still crying and missing you guys!
The Dan Band! There was a two year period when I’d see them sing with a group of friends at a venue in Hollywood on Friday nights-there was plenty of singing along, laughter and alcohol consumed. Bravo taped one of their concerts in Vegas, would air it randomly for a two year period. This song was one of The Dan Band’s encore songs to close the show!
there is a brilliant video on youtube, the owners of a lovely dog have put on. they have a speaker on a low table and the dog has its nose almost on the speaker which is playing this song, every time they sing turn around, the dog turns around, it is hilarious
This song was supposed to be a love ballad for a vampire movie that didn't happen. Yes, the video is very overdramatic but I still love it anyway. When I heard it when I was little I had no idea that it was supposed to have been for a vampire movie. It just sounded like this sad love song. I'll always love its melodrama.
The songs an 80s classic but Id forgotten how amazing the video is. Every frame is like a wonderful image. so much visual creativity. Even lots of choreography with Ninjas & fencers. It really suits the epic sound of the song. It looks rich & expensive. so many iconic references also. The kids are like village of the damned with the eyes. Its very 80s horror in theme.
This is a terrific song. The girl can sing!!! As good as the song is how bad the video is. It is just horrible and weird. But the song is so terrific. So much power. She really needs him tonight!
Weird is the word that sums up the video. I said the same thing after you already had. Weird...weawy, weawy weiwd. Song, great. Bonnie, great. Video, really, really weird.
This is the short version of the song. There is a verse that is missing from this - Every now and then, I know you'll never be the boy You always wanted to be (Turn around) But every now and then, I know you'll always be the only boy Who wanted me the way that I am (Turn around) Every now and then, I know there's no one in the universe As magical and wondrous as you (Turn around) Every now and then, I know there's nothing any better There's nothing that I just wouldn't do
I have heard this song many many times over the years. I only just took the time to learn the lyrics at 5:58 - "We're living in a powder keg and giving off sparks" I think I always just sang it as we're living in a polygag (not a word) & givin' up spots"😂😂
This was supposed to be with a movie that never happened. I’m like wondering the connotations with the story. lol. Anyway, I love her. I think you all would like Bette Davis Eyes by Kim Carnes.. They both have a raspy sound. Oh, also Bonnie Tyler’s It’s a Heartache is super good.
Love the song and Bonnie Tyler can definitely sing!!! But gotta be honest, the video kinda creeps me out. It's certainly a production....but those creepy bright eyes.... Nah baby nah!!! 😮😮😮
Yeah, I don't know what the heck they were going for with that video. I know that there are some really bad videos for really great songs, but this one is just really weird.
The song is great, they video...who knows. It was the early 80s and music videos were something new and no one really knew what to do. Just get one out quickly so they could get it on MTV.
Love your reactions. CK out Pearl jam live on MTV the song Black. CK out Fleetwood Mac on midnight special the song RHIANNON. You guys rock man. #ROCKON
Homecoming Dance 1983. My date and I danced all night, got our pics taken. Great night. Went outside for some night air. I asked her to be my steady girl. This song starts playing as she gives me the " be good friends" rejection. It came with a kiss on the cheek. We did date a couple more times under the friend umbrella. When those pics arrived in our classroom, people said what a great couple we made. We were such good friends, others thought we were in a serious relationship. So this is my long way of saying I hate this song 😂
Hey you guys want to hear a REALLY Great singer who does in the studio and LIVE , who’s also from the UK , ELKIE BROOKS. aka British Queen of Blues . . She blows this singer out of the water, who can’t cut it LIVE .
Love you guys and this channel. Bonnie is Welsh not British. The backup vocals are done by Rory Dodd, who is an amazing singer in his own right and is rarely credited. Check out their live performance at the Grammys. This song is actually about vampire love (forever's gonna start tonight). There is an alternate version with an additional verse. You can find it on YT, offhand I can't remember it completely. That is the version that appears on the album.
I really prefer just listening to a song. Most videos are very distracting to me and don’t enhance the performance in my opinion. There are exceptions, of course, like AHA’s Take On Me and Peter Gabriel’s Sledgehammer, which are good videos, but even then I prefer the audio versions. Loved this song when it came out and closing my eyes it still sounds great.
Please react to songs from Loza Alexander. His latest three songs are Lying Kamala, Never Surrender and Bum Yum! All are bangers at least they are to me.
Love the song, have since it came out. The video never made sense, still doesn't. However, this is when most all music had to put out a video, when MTV was really music videos.
The great Jim Steinman. You haven’t heard the whole song, because on the album there’s an additional verse. Also off this album is “faster than the speed of night.” Again, the video cuts 3 minutes off the song. Do the 6+ minute version.
It may be the subject matter. I never wanted my man at the time to think this was my true feelings. At my husband now knows I do this song cause he heard me don't believe we were together. And knows people request it
Nailed it. Jim Steinman wrote this song and also wrote for Meatloaf.
He shouldn't have written for meatloaf. He should have insisted on money.
But seriously, folks... Of all the many things I didn't know, that was one of them.

And he wrote similarly dramatic megahits for Air Supply and Celine Dion.
and Meat Loaf absolutely loved this song and was incredibly disappointed that he chose Bonnie Tyler over him to sing it.
The video is VERY weird, but the song and Bonnie’s voice are phenomenal
Holding Out for a Hero!

Like Nowehre Fast, tonight is what its means to be young... I love Jim and his arrangement.

RIP Jim Steinman. He wrote songs for other artists as well like Air Supply "Making Love Outta Nothing At All"
It's hard not to like Air Supply. Good songs and vocal performances, and a string of big hits.
Interestingly, Making Love Out Of Nothing At All was number two on the charts when this song was number one.

Silly video- GREAT TUNE! Bonnie could sang! ❤ I believe the composer of this one also wrote Meatloaf’s big ballads as well. Jim Steinman?

For 1983 a normal video

I will never understand the video, but what a great vocal performance...
The song was meant to be about Vampires. The video was probably about as obscure.
Jim Steinman and that voice? A guaranteed classic!
Bonnie’s other songs great It’s called lost in France thank you for playing these reaction videos 👍
Everyone can relate to the loneliness described in this song, that's what made it such a huge hit

The song was originally conceived to be part of a musical about vampires, which goes some way to explain the video
