I currently work for a health plan that will be implementing epic tapestry for health plans within the next two years. I was selected as one of the wave one team members to be a part of the implementation and get epic certified. so I will be starting my training in Wisconsin at the end of October so this was helpful and just trying to get some more information and know what to expect.

Looking to transition to Epic analyst or Epic consultant , you mention accreditation, do you happen to know how much $$ would be if I were to pay for classes to obtain certification?

    • @virtualizehealth

      Hey there!
That’s amazing, you have much healthcare experience using Epic. I’m not exactly sure how it much it costs but I heard it’s around $5k. I also don’t think you can pay it yourself since the healthcare organization that you would be working for should cover it. It could be a good bargaining chip if you mention that you are willing to take a $5k pay cut in the first year just so you can get certified. Win-win situation for everyone. Thank you for your comment!

    • @virtualizehealth
      @virtualizehealth  Год назад +1

      Hi Marco,
Thank you for stopping by. If you don’t have a degree, I recommend you to apply for Epic Credentialed Trainer roles. I found one for Virginia Hospital Center and their qualifications regarding education are as followed:
      - A two-year degree in healthcare field or equivalent level college courses in healthcare with appropriate experience may also be acceptable with supplemented experience.
This means that you apply even if you don’t have a degree yet. They like seeing that you are taking some college courses since it gives the impression that you love learning. I’ve met many people who did not have a college degree and still got Epic Credentialed Trainer roles. Look for organizations that are newly transitioning to Epic, this will give you the best chances! Let me know if you still need help. Good luck 👍

Any information on the Helios upgrade that’s about to roll out? I work for Henry Ford Health and we’re about to get the Helios upgrade soon, April 22 . From what I’ve seen so far, there isn’t going to be a way for schedulers to remove and add back provider held spots /exceptions. A good majority of our providers use those holds as a way of controlling their schedules and allowing more time to be spent with complicated patients. I myself schedule for a dermatology clinic. Our current application is the Epic Hyperspace

      Hi @pepsicarwash,
I haven’t heard about the Helios upgrade at my organization. Although, I don’t think the functionality to remove or add provider held spots/exceptions will be removed since it’s so important. Those template settings are usually done within the Edit template activity in Epic Hyperspace. I will look into this Helios upgrade and let you know the major changes.

      Hey there!
Honestly, I believe it’s close to impossible to get the certification/accreditation as an outside who is coming from a different industry.
A lot of the work requires the understanding of healthcare workflows and it would be hard to know them as an outsider.
Although, you could try working for Epic systems’ headquarters first to get your certification and ease your transition. Try looking at their openings for the requirements.

      Hey Troy,
Sorry to hear about the layoff. I would go to my Epic (EHR) Applications playlist and find which video best describes your old position.
I would then find the exact Epic application and search for jobs using that keyword. For example, you could search for Cadence Epic analyst job posts.
Then, I would read each of the job descriptions and look for the following keywords: "Credentialed in Epic module or applications within 3 months of hire." or "Certification and/or experience in Epic **application** a plus" or "Applicable Epic application certification (e.g. Inpatient, Ambulatory, etc.) required or must complete certification within 6 months of hire."
If the job post has anything stating the above, the healthcare org is willing to pay for your certification.
