Hey there!
Virtualize Health, is an educational channel that helps healthcare professionals who feel underpaid and undervalued transition into EHR roles. These EHR roles are in high demand in the healthcare industry, and I don't see it slowing down anytime soon.
Epic is an Electronic Health Records (EHR) software company based out of Verona, Wisconsin. They are the #1 EHR company in the United States, meaning that majority of hospitals and outpatient medical facilities already use them. As the elder population continues to grow, the expansion of hospitals and healthcare organizations will also continue to grow.
Healthcare Organizations are looking to hire Epic Analysts and Trainers who have a passion for improving patient care through technology. Still confused on how you can utilize your years of healthcare experience to fill these roles?

What exactly is your new role title? And do you have a CS degree or tech background?
Hey there! My new title is programmer analyst. I don’t have a background in CS but I do have a masters degree in health informatics
@ thank you for the info.
I have a background in tech but do I need a background in health care to become an Epic Application Analyst?
Facts!!!!
Hey brother are you going to give the it companies that are using epic and hiring this year of 2025?
Hey bro, Yes, I'm currently trying to automate this process since it took me a long time to come up with the 2024 list. Looiking into AI to help me with the webscraping part of it. Thank you for your comment!
I wanted to start my career in EPIC but don’t know the process , help me
Hey there! Welcome to the channel. I would start by figuring out if your organization allows their employees to take the self-study proficiency certification. This track will expose you to building Epic records inside their training environments and you can use that experience to buff up your resume when you start applying for those entry-level Epic analyst roles.
Hi! I am currently working a radiology/ct tech, any advice on how to transition into an epic analyst role?
Hey there! You can check out this reddit post with exact steps to take to transition into an epic analyst role. If you still have any questions or need help with the self-study proficiency track reach to me at gabriel@virtualizehealth.com. Looking forward to your transition! How to apply for Epic Credential role? I am medical graduate and residing in UAE
Hey there! You would just search for 'Epic credentialed trainer jobs near me'. If that doesn't work, then I would serch for hospitals that use Epic in the UAE and go to their careers site. Then, you would search for it again there. I hope this helps.
@ Thank you for the response I will search for it.
Hi! I’m a Respiratory therapist and wanna get into a epic analyst job. What certification do you think it will be better with my clinical background ? Thanks
Hey there! That's awesome. That's a great question. I would probably gor the EpicCare Inpatient or Outpatient modules. Let me know how it goes. Try to pursue the self-study proficiency certification in either of those modules.
Hi , I recently got a job as an AR caller, in some company and it uses epic software for hospital billing. As i don't have enough experience in epic, i am trying to hard to understand the software can you help me with this

Can you please make a video in Epic HIM ROI module
Thank you for this direction.
Happy to help!
Has anyone gotten in this field without a bachelor IT or nursing degree but is IT savvy?
I in the lab and have 16 years of lab experience. I interviewed for a beaker analyst role, but didn’t get it. I’m going to try to take some online courses to learn more about servers, firewalls, ports, and switches. This was the advice the hiring manager gave me after letting me know I didn’t get selected. In the interview, there was a 2 year commitment to stay on or else I would have to pay back the $11k it would cost to get me certified. So I’m going to look into learning about the above mentioned and try again.
Hello! I am X-ray tech. Is there anyway I can become an Epic analyst? Do I have to have experience in IT or can i apply regardless?
Hey there! Absolutely, the Radiant module should be the easiest with your experience as an X-ray tech. If you don't have much knowledge regarding databases, I would first take a course on that. I'm currently creating one for aspiring Epic analyst but if you are familiar with SQL I recommend the Google Data Analytics course on Coursera. If you are interested in my upcoming course you can sign up here: forms.fillout.com/t/a1EcV3Xt3rus
Great video! Thank you for all this information. I am currently trying to get an Epic analysts position and wanted to know certificates to get.
Hey there! Thank you for watching 🙂. That's awesome! It depends on what kind of healthcare experience you already have. What are your current responsibilities?
@virtualizehealth I am doing the self-study proficiency for Cadence and hopefully Prelude but have to finish within a month. Currently, I'm an Epic user trainer. I am hoping to transition to analyst. Your video helped me know to take Data Analyst certification for a higher chance to get an analyst position if I don't finish the self-study. Thank you.
Update- I am finally working back at an organization that uses Epic and about to take the Cadence course online. Question- how do I take a class in the fundamental section?
Hey there! If you are doing the self-study proficiency then there isn't an actual class but there is pdf with all the information regarding the fundamentals course. You will just have to read through all of that and take the exam at the end. If your track has a project then you can request an Epic environment in the training home page of Epic. Does this help?
@ okay thanks. I will take a look at it. Going this route, I can then apply for Epic Analyst position? If not, can you tell me what can be my next steps
@@TroyTV5 Of course! It will give you an advantage since you can talk about your hands-on experience building in Epic once you complete your project.
@ okay thank you. Ill keep you updated on my journey.
@@virtualizehealthhey again. Where do o find the PDF? I do not see it under Fundamentals
How do you get hired without being certified first? I’m an EPIC CT, only credentialed within my job via principal trainer. I train for all of ambulatory registration (cadence, prelude, tapestry, beacon, mychart, *grand central and epic care *)for our 5 hospital campuses. I work with our analyst and that’s where my interest lays. Hearing this makes so much sense now as to why they make this an actual position. I am a PSR but am also a full time trainer and they just pay me a small differential. I also work on operational workflow development for ambulatory and making sure our workflows are up to date or creating new ones where needed.Everywhere I’ve looked for a job wants you to already be certified in a module.
Hey there! That's awesome, I was also an Epic CT before my Epic analyst role. I have a video that has a spreadsheet with all of the healthcare organizations using Epic (Around 700). Video: ruclips.net/video/qAA0ptxrg2k/видео.htmlsi=DnBUhi2iWzjE6gbB I would honestly go through each of them and look at their careers website. You want to look for the phrase 'Epic Certification: application specific to be obtained within months' or 'within 90 days'. I hope this helps! Good luck on your journey.
@ omg 🙌🏾 this is helpful!!! Thank you!!
@ i see a job here for an Epic applications analyst II - cadence /prelude. And it says “Epic cadence/prelude certification is required with in 3 months” … I should be applying for this is what I’m hearing?
@@tendaroni Yes, you got it! Those are the ones you should be focused on applying
How do I get certified without my job sponsoring me? I'm currently a tech and we use Epic
Hey there! The only other way is to work for Epic systems directly. I would recommend for you to pursue the self-study proficiency to get a feel of building things in Epic. This can help you get your first Epic analyst job which would then pay for your certification.
Can you recommend epic training course for a business analyst
Hey there! It depends on what your experience was tailored in as a business analyst. If you had some experience with reports I would focus on Cogito. You could leverage SQL experience with this module.
If you could do a visual diagram on this, that would be EPIC!!!!
Hey there! Sure no problem, which part do you need more clarification on?
I am Epic service desk Analyst. Have 3 yrs experience in Epic but no certification :(. Waiting for that one opportunity that gets me certified.
Hey there, That’s a great start! I’m sure you have leaned a lot in your current role. Have you been getting interviews for entry-level roles?
@@virtualizehealth Nothing yet.. Would greatly appreciate your guidance in this regard.
@@User1234-wk9tp Got it! I would focus on updating your resume if you haven't been getting interviews. You can shoot me an email at gabriel@virtualizehealth.com

can we have some interview questions for epic application analyst role? plsssss
Hi Danielle, Yes, I can make a video on that. Thank you for the suggestion!
I have an interview this week as an epic system analyst Any tips for me ?
Hey there! Sorry for the late response. I do but it depends on which application you are applying for. How did the interview go?
Currently an ESA. How hard is it to become PB/ HB analyst?
Hey there! It depends on your experience. If you have billing experience and are familiar with how databases work you might have a pretty good shot.
Hi I'm trained now radiant can you please help me to clear the exam
Hey there! Sorry for the late response. That's awesome! How did you do in your exam?
Hey I know this pretty late but I am abut to graduate as a HIT major and Im looking to work on the vendor side im not looking exactly to be a data analyst but more so understand the architecture of the ehr system, would being an ehr implementationist be a good route?
Hey, not late at all! Yes, becoming an EHR implementation specialist could be a great move for what you’re looking to do. Implementation roles give you a solid understanding of EHR architecture, workflows, and how different systems integrate with each other. Plus, it’s a hands-on way to learn the structure of an EHR without needing to dive too deep into data analytics. It’s definitely a good foundation if you’re aiming to work on the vendor side. Best of luck as you graduate!
Hey man, I'm a recent Computer Science grad and I just learned about Epic Systems. I've seen a lot of Epic Systems Analyst job postings for hospitals/healthcare companies that say the only qualifications are to have a bachelors (prefferably in the IT field) and they expect you to be EPIC certified within a few months of starting the job (I assume the company provides the training modules) . Are this job postings real? Are these companies really willing to train new hires in EPIC Systems or is too good to be true?
Hey, congrats on graduating! Yep, those job postings are real, and many healthcare organizations are definitely open to training new hires on Epic. They know that Epic certification is specialized, so they often provide the training and sponsor new hires to go through the certification process. As long as you have a solid foundation in IT/data management and are willing to learn, they’re usually happy to invest in training you up. It’s a big commitment for them too, so they look for people who are motivated to stick with it long-term. If you see those postings, definitely go for it-they’re a great way to get into healthcare IT without needing Epic experience upfront. Good luck!
I had epic training but it was online at 4am in the morning but would love to visit then. Maybe at a xgm event.I really enjoy their training.I have done 6 exams so far, and 2 to go. I just hope the course updates aren't too challenging
Glad you’re enjoying the training, and best of luck with the last two exams! Visiting during XGM would be a great experience-Epic in person is a whole new vibe. Which exams do you have left?
Thank you for this video ! Had a few interviews hoping I make it here soon !
Thank you for watching. Good luck!
@ thank you! It was unsuccessful, I think I’m giving up on this until I finish my degree .
new sub here, which module do you think is the easiest to learn? im going to try the self trained at work epic test. Thanks for making these videos
Hey Frank, Welcome to the channel! I always tell people that the easiest module is the one that you have personal workflow experience with. In my scenario, I felt like the Radiant (Radiology) module was easier for me since I worked at a radiology department for about 4 years. What hospital department do you have the most experience with?
@@virtualizehealth i dont have any experience with any, i work at a hospital but i was given access to epic university course catalog to self learn so im wondering which might be the easiest so i can switch jobs from IT. thanks!!!
@@frankt5833 Nice! Having access to Epic University is a great starting point. If you’re looking for an easier entry, consider starting with Ambulatory or Cadence-they’re user-friendly and widely used across departments. Both can give you a solid foundation for transitioning from IT to a clinical application role. Good luck!
Hi I’m trying to understand Epic before my training/start date. The health facility I’m working for uses MyChart. I’ll be working as a Patient Financial Services. Any advice or tips for it?

Hello. I work in a institution thats an Epic customer. My current role is in the pharmacy department as a Pharmacy Analytics Coordinator. What path can/should I take to start a career with Epic? Thanks for any info.
Hey there, I would choose the Willow inpatient or outpatient Epic applications, depending on your expertise.
Thank you for this video. I am currently in graduate school studying MBA healthcare management and will need guide from anyone on what epic module to certify in. Will come back to check comments. Thank you.
Hey there, That's amazing, congrats! I would pick one that interests me and also one that I already have knowledge in. The HIM Epic app might be a good fit for you. This is one I recently ran into: careers-shriners.icims.com/jobs/5899/epic-application-analyst%2c-him/job

I'm struggling to find epic "At the elbow" entry level
Don't give up! I'm sure something will come up soon. There are new healthcare orgs that have been transitioning to Epic EHR this year. I keep seeing more and more orgs transitioning to Epic even from Cerner. Once I have a bit more time, I will update the google sheet to include these new orgs.
@virtualizehealth thank you!
Are these classes easy to follow? Is it difficult to troubleshoot when end users sent you a request to fix something?
Hey there! The classes are pretty easy to follow. In my opinion the Epic trainers that train the analysts are pretty good at what they do. Some are pretty straightforward but some do require taking a look at the issue for a couple hours. That’s the fun part for me haha
Thank you Gabriel, I’ve been in an admin role for quite sometime and want to further my knowledge of Epic. Your videos are so helpful and although I haven’t been considered yet. I’m hopeful my determination and your videos will continue to help me not give up.
