Thanks so much for the tour of your wonderful county. Eerie coincidence with the Cloven Hoof pub, your video had 666 likes before I added mine! 😀
Hi Sandy when you go to that country side it always reminds me of a song by XTC who were a band from Swindon the song is called Chalk Hills and Children. Excellent history lesson thanks.

Aldbourne the filming location for "The Final Salute" the RAC/AA 1950's copy of Heartbeat (I think itv), my parents were in it with their Morris Minor and an article in the evening advertiser about the filming. An Ebike like the Ranger will really open up the landscape to almost anyone Jeffrey, but I still enjoy my normal pedal powered bikes, albeit they are a bit slower
I didn't realise that Band of brothers country was so close to me. Easy Company 504 Parachute Infantry were based there before D-Day 1944. The Blue Boar was where the officers drank, and the Crown where the enlisted men drank. I must come over for snoop around.
Interesting content Sandy. I knew one day you'd get the ebike 'buzz'. I'm walking the Cotswold Way at the moment and seeing lots of bikes along the route.
Loving the ebikes Bill just don't know how reliable they will be in the long term. My old steel frame tourer still going strong after 40 years. How many Ebikes will be around in that time is a big question mark but they are great inventions
Couldn’t agree more about doctor Who these clever buggers have broken all the old rules and that’s it they’re broken so where do you go from there? It’s like exposing the Stig when it’s done there’s no going back. Another great ride out and E-bikes are getting more more tempting.

Lovely ride Sandy. Aldbourne, Easy Company, from the war series Band of Brothers, was stationed in and around there during the build up to D-Day, the Yanks were stationed all over Wiltshire.

Hope the legs get better Ken. It's very difficult to see a Dr over here in the UK now and when you do they are always very keen to dish out some sort of big pharma medication. They always just seem to treat the symptom and not the root cause.

I've had many a problem with Mr Nobody, if and when I actually catch him reorganising my clothes drawers, my kitchen,. my garage and my bushcraft / knives gear I'll swing for him! William Hartnell is STILL Dr Who to me. No one else comes close.
I do miss exploring places on my pushbike! If you’ve never done the Devon C2C I would highly recommend it. I’d highly recommend popping down to Somerset too and exploring a few areas, biased here though as I live here
Another great Adventure Sandy, once again I get to leave New England for Old England, and tour your homeland. What is it about Hedge Rows! are they manditory? there is hardly a scene with out them.? Here in New England you'd be hard pressed to find that many Hedges or Hedge Rows. Not withstanding an excellant tour thanks for taking me along and for sharing. de Ellis WA1RKS.
Thoroughly enjoyed this little tour, thank you for sharing. P.S. you’re right about Dr. Who - loved it as a kid growing up in the 60s and 70s, like you I stopped watching when Tom Baker left. Appalled they put a woman in as the Doctor recently, what a farce. And I’m a woman!
Haaha, I have nothing against Women, I think they are beautiful, but the other sort of woman that you can find these days I find is a different story!!:)
Superb video, Sandy. What saddens me is the size of the fields around the Barrows. How many ancient hedgerows have been grubbed up by the agri-businessmen to create them? Criminal!!
i hope one day, when all madness is gone, to visit your beautiful county. One positive thing about e-bikes, you can go quiet far. So i hope you don’t lose your normal strength. And yes, a lot of freedom on the bike, i love biking, but what can you do when you do a big tour and in the evening your battery is down? No bushcraft, that’s for sure.
I think the Ebike will cover around 60 miles if you are prepared to only use the lower power settings Hend. Yesterday I was riding my normal pedal power bike. You will see it in the next video
The generations younger than ours have sadly never been able to fully experience some of these old features....to walk upto and touch the stones at Stonehenge or climb up and sit on the top of Silbury Hill. It makes you think that if Social Media had existed many thousands of years ago, these structures may never have been built.
Another interesting tour. I was 18 by the time of this Dr Who episode and had pretty much given up watching so it's not one I remember. I quite liked the reboot with Christopher Eccleston and some of the following episodes. Overall I don't think it's any worse now, and in some cases it's better, than it was when I first started watching it in B&W with the original Dr. At least the monsters are more convincing and the sets don't wobble as much these days. 😀
As they used to say "get a LO Here in the US if you opened gates and crossed fields you would most likely be met with a loaded shotgun. I think that is called cultural diversity. Pertwee was all class.
It breaks my heart to see things like that fence, it is nothing more than sacrilege, and shows no respect at all. They could have moved the fence by just 10 or 12 feet to clip the side of the barrow. Jon Pertwee used to scare me as a small child, but I grew to love him so much that I could not accept any other doctor!! His son Sean is also a good actor. Interesting place Sandy with glorious views, thanks mate. 13:40 hahaha, where do you get your saying from? haha...
I really don't know what was going through their heads back in 1871 Bry when they drove that fence straight through the middle of the long barrow. I can see the whole central area of the barrow has been robbed out. The discovered 4 intact skeletons. It was a large barrow and in it's prime as big as Wayland Smithy so there could be more still buried. I hope they can be left in peace. Not so Glorious I tells Ya:)
I’m just wondering how long it will be before they try stopping E bikes from using Bridal Ways with no motorised access or use, I’ve been up on the Pennines today and noticed on the bridal way I walked it said no bikes, e bikes or motorised vehicles
I think such a thing would be unjust and would stop a lot of people who ride Ebikes accessing certain area's,because their health would not permit the use of a normal bike. I am all for breaking an unjust law
Excellent but at present too energetic on the bike for me I would be out of Puff Hi I sat in here and did the SP Contest in CW Mode . keep up the good work WX better soon.
@@WiltshireMan if you bury a troublemaker whether or not they are dead - then the best thing to do is to make sure that they’re at least six foot under - and then pile as much as you can on top of the grave to make sure that the bugger can’t get back out!
That bike runs over any terrain. You are even cycling one handed. Let’s be honest, Dr Who had one good idea, the Daleks! It’s now gone woke like everything on BBC 😂
Thank you, I enjoyed that. A nice blend of countryside and history both ancient and modern. You are obviously enjoying the bike. Will you be doing a "long term" or "living with" review of it?
I think more recently that area was used by US paratroopers billeted in that area & surrounding villages. Fantastic history, gorgeous countryside. Great zipping along on the bike isn’t it. I was watching those episodes on Pluto TV on my phone a couple weeks ago.
And I'm guessing next year it will be 80 years since Col Dick Winters and some of his 101st US Airbourne ' Band of Brothers ' were billeted in Aldbourne ?
I've had many a problem with Mr Nobody, if and when I actually catch him reorganising my clothes drawers, my kitchen,. my garage and my bushcraft / knives gear I'll swing for him! William Hartnell is STILL Dr Who to me. No one else comes close.
Haaa Yes thats Mr Nobody;s brother Howard, he is a mischievous sort?
Thanks for letting us tag along on your adventure! Your dead right about Dr. Who ... Though I'm sure Tom Baker was the best😉
great video and great commentary, JP forever! Have you seen his son dressed up as the 3rd doctor he looks just like his dad.
No I've not seen him, I must try and find a photo of him
I do miss exploring places on my pushbike! If you’ve never done the Devon C2C I would highly recommend it.
I’d highly recommend popping down to Somerset too and exploring a few areas, biased here though as I live here
I'd love to cycle the Devon C2C one day
I always love the videos when you show the ancient sites. What would be the crops grown in those fields Sandy?
Mostly Barley, wheat and oilseed rape Bill
Another great Adventure Sandy, once again I get to leave New England for Old England, and tour your homeland. What is it about Hedge Rows! are they manditory? there is hardly a scene with out them.? Here in New England you'd be hard pressed to find that many Hedges or Hedge Rows. Not withstanding an excellant tour thanks for taking me along and for sharing. de Ellis WA1RKS.
It all goes back a long way over here Ellis, the hedges mark boundaries and some of them are very ancient indeed
So cool that you're a fellow Doctor Who fan (As am I) remember that David Tenant is back for the 60th anniversary this year ;)
Superb video, Sandy. What saddens me is the size of the fields around the Barrows. How many ancient hedgerows have been grubbed up by the agri-businessmen to create them? Criminal!!
We have lost a lot of hedges thats for sure Henry
i hope one day, when all madness is gone, to visit your beautiful county.
@@WiltshireMan great, doing good, Sandy, thx for what you are.
The generations younger than ours have sadly never been able to fully experience some of these old features....to walk upto and touch the stones at Stonehenge or climb up and sit on the top of Silbury Hill.
It makes you think that if Social Media had existed many thousands of years ago, these structures may never have been built.
Social Media has a few good things but it has also destroyed so much Peter
I remember that episode IIRC featured a notable appearance by the Doctor's car (Bessie ?)
There's all sorts of barrows In that area, even wheel barrows.
Often ride through Wiltshire they seem to be building everywhere such a shame a beautiful county
It's happening everywhere at an alarming rate
The Tardis may be huge inside, but so small outside .😂 BTW, usually the red flag warns the milkman that the husband is still at home.
As they used to say "get a

Here in the US if you opened gates and crossed fields you would most likely be met with a loaded shotgun. I think that is called cultural diversity.
Pertwee was all class.
I was shot at back in the seventies crossing blm land
Go to yatesbury, where Dr who and the time Lords music video was filmed 😂
Daleks are from Devon . I met one and asked where he was from?
Exeter mate. Exeter mate.
Haahaaa
@@WiltshireMan credit for that from saddlebags 73 from a while back. Was on a country pub board. 🤣
@@WiltshireMan Not at all mate, really upsets me to see something like that.
When you say bridle path is that the same as a horse trail
Yes, like a public footpath, except horses & bicycles are allowed.
Bridleway gates tend to have long release handles to enable riders to open gates without stepping down from the 'oss'.
Big moles you have in that part of the country!
They've been trying to dig up the "Polyhalite"
@@WiltshireMan if you bury a troublemaker whether or not they are dead - then the best thing to do is to make sure that they’re at least six foot under - and then pile as much as you can on top of the grave to make sure that the bugger can’t get back out!
That bike runs over any terrain. You are even cycling one handed.
Let’s be honest, Dr Who had one good idea, the Daleks! It’s now gone woke like everything on BBC 😂
Yes you are correct. I have no time for the bbc now. Used to watch and trust what they said...Now Never on both counts
Thank you, I enjoyed that. A nice blend of countryside and history both ancient and modern.
You are obviously enjoying the bike. Will you be doing a "long term" or "living with" review of it?
Hi David, I may do a long term user review in a while, I do enjoy the bike very much but I still use my pedal powered bikes too
Hmmm. Saving up for an electric bike or a car?! Or both!! And your using unusual things music. NICE ONE! Good channel he is x
I was on the old pedal power bike again today, just as much fun but a bit slower
Hi Sandy very good, what was the make of your E-Bike.
It's a Cyrusher Ranger. I have a video all about it on my channel a couple of videos back from thsi one
I think more recently that area was used by US paratroopers billeted in that area & surrounding villages. Fantastic history, gorgeous countryside. Great zipping along on the bike isn’t it. You are immersed more in the landscape on a bike. Are you using your GoPro on this one? If so Sandy, fantastic bit of kit.
Hi Andy,
Yes mostly filmed with the Hero10
