Based on my research, it appears as follows:
A former senior Self-Defense Force officer, who has also been involved in recruitment, states that "qualifications and other aspects of enlistment applicants are assessed through psychological tests (psychological aptitude tests) and interviews." Based on the statistics of characteristics that have been collected so far, they conduct a detailed check during the recruitment examination to see if the applicant has an aggressive personality, among other traits.

Either something happened in that welfare center that no one knew about, making so his long reputation as a kind and stable person became misleading to his self after it, or he gave in to intrusive thoughts, but it would be weird to be just intrusive thoughts as he confessed without expressing regret and confusion to what he did

As a continuation of this news, the trial has not yet taken place. In November 2023, shooting training resumed, but it was halted again when one of the personnel gave the middle finger to the press at the entrance of the shooting range. The training resumed once more on May 22 of this year.🤔

@@ZundamonCulturalGuide Though Japanese law is really efficient at convicting the people they bring to trial, one of the biggest issues with it is its slowness, I've seen them letting many things happen with people that have done minor crimes just so they could build a stronger sentence with their constant re-offenses. What we are talking about here is no minor crime, but it just shows again how slow the enforcement of said justice can be, had the guy been someone with more thirst for blood, they could have done more killings in the time that they aren't settling the case of the first kill.

This might be the reason why the conviction rate of defendants brought to trial in Japan is 99%.
