Lists are based on the opinion of the writer from his experience or input from others. A couple of obvious contenders besides the obvious omission of the Callaway Paradym are the PXG 0211 and Mizuno. Hot Metal irons. Perhaps the list should be longer😊

Lol I don't understand why you would rule out a club just based on the look. If I could hit a 7 broom stick 230 yards I would have a bag full of them.

I’m 66 and still a 7 hdcp but needed some more punch. The cobra irons have made a huge difference in my game. I can now pull an 8 iron from 150 yds. With my ZX7 irons I needed a 6 iron.

I'm a Mizuno and Cobra fan. Kind of surprised the JPX 923 hot metal isn't listed. The Ping irons I know are good but I've never liked the cut out near the hozel. The Srixon irons, I've never hit, but looked the best of the lot!

You forget about us older golfers!! Take myself, 79 years old and still play once a week here in Florida. With lower back issues my best golf is long gone! What is most important is forgiveness and length!! I don't care what younger golf snobs say about the looks, all I care about is will they help me play a little better which equals more fun and maybe a couple of extra times in the money!! With that said I have a new set of Cleveland Launcher Halo XL's on the way and hoping for the best!!! Keep up with the good videos!

I went from taylormade M2 irons to ping 425 and for me i agree that the taylor made irons were a bit longer but not by much maybe 3 or 4 yards but the dispersion pattern on trackman favored the pings by a huge margin and to me the pings had a much better feel. I am a senior golfer and the pro told me NOT to purchase the 5 iron so i have ping irons PW thru 6 iron and then 3 and 4 ping utilities. I added a ping
7 wood which I absolutely love.. Previous to the pings I had A fulltaylor made set with 3-4 and 5 utility clubs. I find the ping utility
clubs much easier to hit Loved the 425 irons and ping 7,5, and 3 wood. Found the 425 driver to be very straight and forgiving. Heard all
the Hype and got fitted for the PING 430 and at the same time tried the paradym and taylormade stealth drivers. Im not sure why but
i didnt like the looks of the paradym. I hit the new taylormade stealth about 5 yards further than the PING 430. I didnt mind the sound
of the ping 425 and liked it and found it forgiving but the 430 had much better sound and the dispersion patter with the PING 430
was even better than the 425. I have found the 430 much more forgiving that the 425 and I have not missed a fairway in my
last 3 rounds. that left me with 425 irons utility irons and 425 woods.. The 430 driver is so forgiving that i am now considering
the 430 3 wood. I have no plans at this time to move to 430 irons or utilities but if the 430 3 wood is as good as the driver.
I will get on trackman and see if that is as forgiving as the 430 driver. the G430 drive and 425 7 wood and are my favorite clubs.
this sand tip was badly needed and looks to be a winner. I have hit the callaway and taylormade irons but not the cobras. I sticking
with the pings. Ping did say they wanted forgiveness over distance in the G430 driver. On the course, For me it gave me both, Definitely more center /sweetspots hits with the driver which may make me think I am getting more distance. Chet Moore chesapeake va.

It aggravates me to no end when everyone talks about what style iron you should use based on handicap! It makes no sense for many different reasons. Firstly just because your handicap is above 10 doesn't mean you struggle with your irons. Next reason being, your handicap doesnt mean you are a high or low spin/launch player. Finally, you can have a double digit handicap and have a shallow/sweeper strike which is terrible for this style of iron, because of the wide soles they all have. Don't let anyone tell you just because your not a scratch golfer that you need to use this style of iron unless it is a good fitter. I wasted years playing this style of iron because I thought I wasn't good enough to play "player's" irons. I finally got fit into a much smaller, more traditional style head, with a much thinner sole. I have went from a 16 handicap to a 10 in less than a year. If I can finally get better at putting I will finally drop into the single digits!

    • @codycook3382
      @codycook3382 10 месяцев назад

      @@jadamane
Usually a thinner sole is better for sweepers. I am also a sweeper. Before I did a bunch of research and talked with a few fitters, I had always used thicker soled, "more forgiving" game improvement style irons. It always seemed like they didn't feel very good even when I struck them pure. I found out after years of hitting that style iron it was because the sole design was too thick for me, a sweeper to ever really have good turf interaction. I switched to much thinner soled "player" style irons and now the sound, feel, and performance of my irons has become night to day better! You don't need blades or even player cavity irons. Their are plenty of player distance irons with the best of both worlds. Beautiful looks, and feels but also lots of distance and forgiveness on less than perfect strikes. Most importantly most of them don't have super thick soles and tons of offset like the irons I wasted years hitting. Some examples for player distance irons are Callaway Apex, Taylormade P790, Srixon ZX5, Mizuno 225. All are great.

I got fitted for Ping G430 irons and they have worked out great. I gain consistent yardage making life easier and mishits still give me something to work with. My first 2 package sets in the 90s were Wilson 1200s, then fat shafts. They used to be premium gear, then lost their way by going into the "Argos" package set market.
The D7 forged and recent D9 were both fantastic irons. Whilst they continue to make package sets, anything marked "Wilson Staff" is as good as Ping or TaylorMade.
The downside is they won't hold their 2nd hand value as well as the big 4 makers.
But, pair these Dynapower with the matching Driver, and you're on the course with a premium set of clubs for just over a grand. Just add your existing putter....

Ive never hit an iron this good and/or consistently straight. I've picked up some yardage but the big thing is the feel and consistency. If this list is only new irons for 2023, then yes but the Cleveland launcher halo is quite something.
The one thing is disagree with you on is the Taylor made irons aren’t “training wheels” where you want them gone as soon as you can. I think if that average golfer is hitting them well, it would be ridiculous and a poor decision to go to a harder to strike (but looks more mainstream) iron.

I got titleist ap-1 set . My wife and pops worked together and got me that set of irons plus driver and 3 wood sim 2 max edition For Chris add this year . They got the iron set for 150 . Wife also got my 52 vokey . They are slightly used but I don’t care . I went from shooting mid 90s to now close to breaking 80 almost every round . My problem is my damn putting game … I used to be a scooper but now I stand over ball and turn hips just right and can hit 8 iron 160 yards . Aiming to get them to 180 soon . I don’t play as much as I like . I wish I could win the lottery and play golf every day but alas being an adult . I will say ball striking with my titleist compared to my older callaway 2.0 irons is a lot better and I feel way more confident . Sim 2 max driver and 3 wood are working great for me. Vibrant 300 drives and my fairway wood is either shank or pure it 260 😂. I kept my Jon daily oversized 5 wood I bought from Walmart . I can’t get rid of it . I need a 200-245 shot that’s my go to

Golfing over 25 years, Wilson Staff make as good a set of irons out any one, keep the show pony brands, I’ve tried them all, one thing they can’t make though is drivers and woods etc, so keep the money you save on a show pony iron and get Wilson staff irons from a D9 or Dyno to a CB or blade, and invest the money you save and put it on a great driver and wood, then thank me later. Best advice I ever got.

Back in my university days, I learned, in British history, about Jeremy Bentham and John Stuart Mill who developed a philosophy of Utilitarianism: that is, that and object or a process should be valued by its innate utility first and, by that idea, last year I bought a set of Wilson LP 2 irons. Yes, they look like hybrids, fat sole, and a non traditional shape. BUT, they work well for me and I have had excellent results from them. I still have a set of Wilson Gooseneck irons circa late -'70s or early -80s which I used to use before age (73) and its corresponding decline in athleticism caught up with me and I've always enjoyed Wilson clubs.
Functionality and utility are my first considerations and looks are second. The Srixons and the Callaways are lovely looking irons, but the LP 2s work for me. If I thought I could work with the seductive looking Srixons, I'd probably buy them in a heartbeat but I think I'll stick with what works for me. They may be unusual in appearance but the LP 2 is one iron I would place on that list.

@@sethmeinertz1034 Being 73, I tested the graphite shaft in both senior and regular at the local PGA Superstore as the graphite is lighter to swing and transmits less shock on mishits than the steel. The senior was a bit soft but the regular was just right and I got the 6 - PW set and then purchased a matching 5 iron. If you're contemplating buying a set, I would suggest you hit a demo club or 2 just to gauge the feel of the shaft and, maybe, check the similar Cleveland offerings, too, just as a comparison. Again, the LP 2s worked for me and they will be my gamers for the foreseeable future. Try hitting a demo and see what you think.

(That shaft really works for me) i know I will be doing sone zx5's and maybe even some zx7's, but not sure where to transition. Once I know how far I am getting out with the 4 iron I will know what to do with my 5 iron and where to start the zx5's. If I do the zx7's it will probably be 8-A or 9-A. Gotta get the zx5 7 iron first. Csn't wait, but the trigger was pulled. Now... once that's done I will need to decide on that clevelan 3+ Hywood OR a utility iron (probably that mizuno you tested). I'm about 2 months away from figuring out which one of those is kicking out my hybrid.
I appreciate your content znd love your channel. Building a great community. Best

i’m 60 s d have had a shoulder injury 2 years ago which required surgery. I was never a long hitter. But now i’m kinda screwed.
I had a really nice set of clubs stolen from a storage space before my injury. So my 4 scotty cameron putters and vokey wedges are gone. This is where i am.
know i can’t do my steel shaft Titleist clubs again. I have to be realistic. My shoulders will never be great again. But i want to play. so here i am. i’m sure there are many players who eschew game improvement irons.
i tried every club in this review out and the taylor made stealth he were the best for me. i understand why you don’t like the way they look, but hey work for me, and i don’t want Wilson.

I have Stealth HD 5 and 6 iron. They are weird. When you hit near the center they fly long, high, and straight. If you hit near the toe or the heel they go straight, but absolutely no distance. I hit the 6 iron around 175. If I miss hit I'm lucky to get 75

It's crap. First irons I bought after 10 years off golf thinking it's the newest greatest tech today. Couldn't hit anything right and the feel was weird. Up for sale, get fitted and given Mizuno 225 which is superb and actually more forgiving. Then I got the 245 after only 2 weeks so I got both. The 245 is no 2 best performing. No 1 Epon EF02i.

My 1st ever irons were Wilson's and they were actually really good. I traded them in for TM R7's years ago. I had TM Rocketballz for years after them and recently got P790's for less offset and the performance they give and I think they're one of the best looking irons ever made 😘 😂 Anyway the Rocketballz 4 & 5 irons were shape a bit like these new HD Stealths maybe more like a utility iron with the fat back but they performed really well and were very forgiving which I lot of high handicap golf's need.
If I had to pick outta that lot I'd go for the Cobra ones.

Thanks for the video. I don't know what the criteria the NCG used to decide the top 5 most forgiving irons. So with respect, it does not really matter hoot. At the end of the day performance is king and aesthetics is queen for game improvement irons. Most of the clubs have different lofts, so this will have a huge impact on the distance they travel, spin rate, launch angle etc. For me the best clubs are probably not even listed i.e. Mizuno Hot Metal clubs - they look great, sound good and perform as well as any of the clubs in this video. Just saying.

Length in irons does not matter, as long as you know that you consistently hit a specific iron a specific distance. I hit my Ping G25 7 Iron 165 yards but my newer Cobra Radspeed 7 Iron 180 yards, consistently. You need to pick the correct iron for the distance required.
