    I feel people wouldn't have issue with Iron Man if the story didn't had Tony coming up with all those ideas (the negative zone prision, the use of the thunderbolts) or at least have him wanting to change them to be less morally questionable and not cause so much damage to his friends but had the goverment prevent him from doing it. The clone of Thor is great exemple. It would have been better if, after killed Goliah, Tony wanted to shut him down, but SHIELD force him to just reprogram, not wanting to waste a "valuble weapn against Cap side".
    This would show the negative consequence of Tony and heroes joinning the registration side, with them realizing that they now just became puppets, unable to disagree without putting themselves and loved ones at risk (after all, since they registrate themselves, the goverment now knows who they are, who are their families and how to find them).

    This event I thought was a trainwreck and made no sense whatsoever especially as a Spider-Man fan it was really bad in my opinion.

      Spider-Man is the worst yeah. I probably should have went into more detail with that. Its stupid that anyone would side with Iron Man and not know where its going to be heading...how naive can you be? He backed himself into a corner.

      @@ChannelNerdgasm j agree it’s stupid to see a lot of the heroes team up with iron man in this event which still made no sense in my opinion.

    I was super hoping you’d mention that time Thor beat the shit out of Iron Man afterwards. Looking into this whole thing just made me dislike Iron Man more during this time. And I just chilled on it lately. (hiring Titanium Man?! really? he done this before hiring the Thunderbolts?) This is why I defend the Ultimate Alliance 2 adaptation of this story.

      Yeah I probably should have brought that up. Missed opportunity. Maybe I'll find a way to discuss it in another future video.

    I think the reason why people hate this story arc is because it was NOT the first time Marvel put its heroes fighting each other instead of fighting the real bad guys. What's the deal of heroes fighting other heroes? They may have their differences, but at the end what really matters is to avoid evil at all cost, which means leaving aside your differences and work together as one.
    Also, another reason people hate this story arc is because after it Marvel brought more bad stories, if not worse than Civil War. Secret Invasion and Secret Empire were one of them, with many of them deriving from the post-Civil War events or basing their plotline in the Civil War, something people do not like.
    So that's what I think are the main reasons why Civil War sucks.

      As flawed as it was, Civil War was just trying to make the superheroes more realistic. How well it accomplished that is debatable. You wonder why they can't all just set aside their differences and get along though? You can ask the very same thing when looking at all of humanity. Fighting each other is in our nature unfortunately. We always disagree. I think if superheroes were real - superpowers and everything, they'd be as morally gray as the rest of us can be. The idea of a 'perfect' hero is fantasy. And I think that aspect of Civil War makes it hard to swallow. Its not the kind of story we read these escapist comic books for. I'm not trying to defend the characterizations of all the characters in Civil War. The writing in the story is hit and miss. I just like the concept really. The questions it tried to ask. Its one of the more memorable storylines in comic book history (for better or for worse). And I do agree that period of comics was pretty rough. This, Secret Invasion, Secret Empire, even a bit of World War Hulk. The Marvel heroes felt a lot slimier afterwards lol.

    Personally CW is overrated. Most of it's ideas were done better not only in the MCU adaptation but also in other previous stories like Armor Wars (Tony making decision that affect his relationship with others) and Secret Empire & Captain America No More (The goverment turns against Cap and he becames a fugitive). The ideas in those stories are similar but they never sacrifice what makes these characters likable nor do they save important information for tie-in. If something is important for the story, it should in the main story. Tie-ins should be only optional.

      I agree the MCU adaptation is better. I would also rather play the Ultimate Alliance 2 video game as well even though it only uses the Civil War stuff for half its story haha. Captain America No More is head and shoulders above this storyline in terms of the execution of its political ideas. Secret Empire is worse though IMO. The stuff with Mjolnir is a mess. Good and evil are both glorified. It doesn't know what it wants to say. I talked all about it in my review of that storyline: ruclips.net/video/qYrIrLZSHlM/видео.html

      @@ChannelNerdgasm Despite still being superior to the comics, I still think the MCU adaptation is better than UA2 since the game still has some bad flaws from the comics like the heroes being blame for the destruction that Nitro caused (at least in the MCU film it was more fair, with the Avengers being indirect responsible for the incident and the only ones being punished) or Iron Man and Reed bad portrayal (I can't buy that the same man who, during Armor Wars, quit the Avengers so his friends would be affect by his mess would be ok in forcing them to become his personal army against Cap's team nor that Reed, someone who blames himself for turning Ben into the Thing, would put all his allies in a prision that could case mental trauma).

      @ChannelNerdgasm  2 месяца назад +1

      The game isn't that good either, but I think I'd play it over reading the comic lol. The Civil War film is still the best adaptation of this story though.
