    At the 00:18 mark what do you mean by inability to flex the lumbar spine? I mean in regards to the upper and strength? Should we be flexing/rounding the lumbar spine before we begin to lift the head and upper back off of the floor? Thank you so much in advance. Love the video.

      Some tests you can do alone but others you cannot. It definitely helps to have a partner.

    Thank you for the video. I’m in London, I’ve been very sedentary for years and have become overweight. I’d like to start working out but I have restrictions in mobility when squatting, restriction in Dorsi flexion and other muscles. I’d like to start weight training and hiit, is there some kind of full body assessment I could get from a physiotherapist so I know what my weaknesses are? If so, what would it be called? TIA

      Absolutely. A good Physio should be able to a movement, strength and mobility screen to guide u.

    Pardon my ignorance, but during the MMT of the lower abdominals, what are you having him push into your hand to assess continual engagement? Lumbar paraspinals?

    • @bodyworkdojo
      @bodyworkdojo  Год назад

      No worries. The bottom hand is monitoring the lower back to make sure it stays plastered to the table. Once that lower back starts to arch off the table, the abs are failing and the test is over. 👍

    Can weak core make pain in both sides somewhere around lower ribs?

    • @bodyworkdojo
      @bodyworkdojo  Год назад

      Not usually, thats more likely to be a thoracic problem with referred or radiating pain around the ribs

    How long would you consider the lateral lift to be normal/strong?

    • @bodyworkdojo
      @bodyworkdojo  Год назад

      I typically focus on comparing side to side rather than against a reference because it depends on the mass of the trunk. But for a normal young healthy adult maybe 30 sec.

      Thank you for the awesome video. My question is when you had him lay down on his back straight and you hold his fat to do a crunch you said some people are like a fish out of the water they can't do it. .now that is me and I also can't bend over while standing I wonder what is the problem on a side note I'm not over weighted

    • @bodyworkdojo
      @bodyworkdojo  3 года назад

      @@kyooda90 Thanks for the question. It is not whether or not the person is overweight, but what the weight ratio is between the upper and lower body : )

    Let me give her a chiropractic adjustment and then check that right oblique I bet it will be stronger without exercising it. Interesting observation chiropractors observe daily.

    The core is hardly ever the problem

    • @bodyworkdojo

      I don't disagree. Core strength is only the solution when core weakness is the problem. Testing.
