This piece uses motivic development and aggressive percussion writing to create a tapestry of raging emotions. Very effective for a concert opener or closer. i legitimately hated playing this in band, but now that I listen to it, it's actually great. Just glad someone else is playing this and not me. :>
fr but now its easy af to play once you improve and play more difficult songs over time
Couldn’t be our band playing it🥲
I played tambourine during this is was fun
dude im learning this in symphonic band rn and i hate it but at the same time its fun
@@WetHammbro literally exact same. I’m on the timpani
I'm playing this song in band right now! I am a clarinet, and this song is a bit challenging, but I enjoy it very much. Definitely one of my favorite pieces!
Victoria G I'm playing rn too and it's just basically D and a few other notes #givetheclarinetsbettermusic
Me too
@@carrera7644 fr I just got the sheet music and it's just basically D's and not that hard of a rhythm (at least not for me)
I know I’m not a clarinet I’m a tenor Saxophone but I feel your pain I just got on the Saxophone from flute and it very hard to not think flute after playing the flute for 3 years
Yea we are playing it and we have just D for so long but I don’t mind because when we are not playing just D it is a very fun piece
Randall wanted to say thank you for sharing. Absolutely love this.
for some reason this sounds like something out of pokemon or final fantasy
sounds like SOTC to me
LordExail! “The tenth planet” sounds like a legends of Zelda song
ya know? i kinda see it
The memories I have of playing this song in 8th grade. It makes me feel nostalgic years later this rhythm never left my head and it’s definitely my most favorite song I ever played in band 😭🙏
I played tambourine in 8th grade for this song and loved it, I peaked here
When low brass gets a solo I'm the only one in wind ensemble
TUBA SOLO
lol
Chillz need more trombone
in my band, there is me, on bass guitar, and two friends, a bari sax player and a tuba player, whenever we see eighth notes or a soli we're like: "look, eighth notes!"
Epix Tank Man I know the feeling
FRENCH HORN FO DA WIIIIINNNN!!!
OMG TUBAS RULE! I PLAY TUBA. OMG!!!!
I love this song😍 Cant wait to perform it in band
As a percussionist, playing this song was hell
We were practising this so furiously in our band room that one of the ceiling lights popped open.
We're also practising New Era Fanfare, and it just makes everyone who walks into the room after a bathroom break feel a bit more like loyalty.
*you know that moment when you aggressivo so hard the ceiling light breaks*
@@Xman34washere I completely forgot to mention in my OG comment that a bit of ceiling tile flew off and hit a clarinetist, and my principal asked my teacher to never play that song again because several teachers (some 2 floors above us!) complained about it being "aggressively loud"
My band played this in sixth grade it was insane and when we went up to judges we were given nothing but wow and standing ovations
i remember playing this during my last year of band in 8th grade. This song was so much fun😭
Sight read this today cave wait to fully play it!!😊
We played this at MPA. We got ones all across the board!
Congratulations!
we learned this for all city playing snare on it was mighty fun
Thanks to Boorman for giving this to us. It was really fun, even if extremely difficult at times.
This is hard to play I'm only in 7th grade and we are playing this at full speed
practice it faster, if you can play it faster then slowing it down will be easy
btw I'm tuba and that helped me on the solo I get(low brass solo but im the only low brass at my school that can play this)
I know this is a comment that's old but ikr we got the music on the first week of school were doing good but the trumpets keep slowing down I'm in percussion my part it the crash symbol
I'm in 6th and it's awful
I played this in 7th grade and I loved it.
I played it in 7th and I thought it was easy. And fun (sorry if it sounds rude. Just comparing)
Is this any bodies band music because it’s mine and I am loving it
This is the most fun song ever for the low brass in my opinion. It is so FUN! I play trombone.
I play flute for this song, it’s so so so so much fun!!!
2:00 is my absolute favorite part.
We played this song at a band concert.
I play oboe.
The first 40 seconds were hell to play.
I failed at it.
hey, im a middle school symphonic band kid looking for a song with agressive, loud timpani playing, anyone know a song?
any french horn here and 7th grader??? i need to learn this for concert
Best part 1:11-1:36
Bells are so fun on this lmao
this song is the best until you have to preform it five times SMH, love this composer though. We allways play ruckus at the end of the year for after school band
i play trumpet and i like this song
i have like 4 days to learn this and two other songs…
same
I have bells for this piece!
Ayy same
AntoniSchmo same!
I'm playing this in school and I'm playing the crash symbols the high hat and the sleigh bells:)
does anyone know the painting at 1:11 ?
your mom
i play this in my band oct 1 2013
I love the song if I knew editing I’d use this as assault intro
Also I play trombone #bone_fire
I'm am this year
I play it in 8th grade
I played this on timpani in 7th grade
Wait... 2nd grade!?!
playing this on tuba in the 8th grade band even though im in 6th grade! (they don't have any tubas and they think i'm good enough to play it)
Please tell me that means something other than knowledgable hierarchy!
my favorite part of this is 1:54
This the theme of the EGG
This song is easy
and why is it called 2nd grade I'm in 7th are we wayyyyy behind
Read Mr. Standridge's comment above.
2nd grade is a band level :) I am from a 2.5 grade band(I'm 10th grade, senior band student) and we are playing this song for our optimist concert this year ^-^ It's difficult for flute, but I'm getting used to it hehe
Low brass RULES
Any trumpet 7th graders here ? 😤🤙🏼
Playing this at full tempo with 16 people and we have 4 weeks to learn it along with 3 other pieces yikes
Guys, grade 2 doesn't mean second graders are playing this. Professionals or college students are playing this. If there was a second grade band that could play this well I think you would have heard about them by now lol :)
I know right...
Lol, right? My 7 grade band is having trouble
The Rattie Life grade 2 is middle school band level
Yeah college level and professional is more like grades 4 - 6
The Rattie Life yeah we played this in 8th grade
im playing this in band this year!!!
I'm playing this in all-district concert, 1st chair tenor :D
+william singleton (will1874) me too
+william singleton (will1874) i play alto saxophone
I also play trombone. We played this song last year and the trombone part is pretty fun. Randall Standridge is my band director's and my favorite conposer
+Psych What a great compliment! Thank you very much.
Im in 8th grade... And we only have 4 percussionists... 1 timpani (me) 1 snare, 1 bassdrum, and 1 triangle. Wtf
Uh we don't even have a triangle.. and we have one of everything you said..
our wind ensemble only got two percussionists i believe
edit: o wait nvm i ment jazz band i only got two percussionists. We play pink panther in jazz this year
I have two ;-;
We are doing this now and I play the snare and they are having me play the triangle as well
yeah same with mine. in seventh with cymbals, timpani, bass drum, and snare. we're screwed 🥲
Ahh the memories of playing this back in 6th grade....
SIXTH??? NAW IM IN 8TH AND WERE JUST NOW LEARNING IT😭😭
@@cup1ds._lvr Yeah our band was 6th-8th but I was in 6th at the time. that was 2013-2014 school year lol. Crazy how time flies. Enjoy these years. you got it!
@@blairdrummond5043 wow that's crazy i'm just a beginner and i think i'm doing well😊 thank you!!
i go from what my band teacher says. his first years could play this but it would sound hollow. The whole reason he has the upperclassmen play music the beginners play is because now we play better dynamics and don't mess up on key signatures, altogether we are much wiser and more knowledgeable than we were 5 years ago. Anyone can play a hollow note but it takes a musician to fill it in and give it the meaning it was intended to have.
SIXTH??? THIS IS MY HIGHSCHOOLS HONORS BAND SONG?? HONORS BAND IS FOR SENIORS AND JUNIORS??
everyone in this comment section has heard the soviet anthem being blasted on the school bus within the last year
Jokes on you I don't use the bus
When you're a trumpet but can't play the song yet and have a concert in three weeks 😃
I can relate 😂
ultimate practice session commence lmao
i can relate lol ur not alone
I play the alto saxophone, and we had to learn this song in a week and a half for a competition.
Really relatable
Lol same here
I'm playing this in band and I just wanted to say that this piece was written awesomely. This song is amazing.
my elementary school’s concert band was about., hMM...
700% worse than this xD
This is some real talent right here
Lmao, my band's the same
Jy4nna well this is the first recording of the song
lol it's funny to think that elementry school students could do this. what was the teacher thinking
Who else has a concert for this in one hour and has to sight read it due to lack of practice:/
I am playing this in 7th grade!
I am also playing this song
Pengarmy Ha me too!
my school's 8th grade band played this at competition
we are doing it at a competition soon
i'm in 7th grade band and got a gold at competition. 8th grade got gold with distinction
I remember playing this in my beginner band about 6 months in. Looking back on it, my band teacher was such a good teacher being able to make us learn instruments from scratch and play this in 6 months. I’ll still randomly play it in my high school ensemble, because this is totally my favorite band song of all time.
Why do I not have a pause button on my screen
I'm gonna have to play this in a cluster band for my school! I feel like this song is immposible to learn and play perfectly in 2 weeks as my band director wants us to. Anyways, I think this song is amazing. you feel exited just by listening to it. Good piece.
i remember getting sheet music for this in 8th grade and thinking it was the most difficult song ever and now im a sophomore playinf triplet rhythms and eighth note rhythms in 5/4 time at 152 bpm😭
We have 6 choices for what songs we wanna do for our spring concert and this is one of them and I am voting for it. And this is one of the easier songs but it is still awesome.
If this was hard in 8th grade 💀
@@Pikmin_. oh you would be surprised how many people struggle on this song and that isn’t good because our spring concert is May 9th
@@Blackfedoraowner I remember when I played the song we had like 2 weeks to practice it bruh 💀 somehow we were able to not make it trash in the concert
@@Pikmin_. Well our woodwind section is godlike but our brass is not good outside of the euphoniums, a couple trumpets and tubas. Percussion is good but they always play fortissitissitissitissimo
I gotta admit in my 3 years of playing this is the best song ive ever played this its hard to play as a 12 year old but once you cant stop hearing it, your unstoppable, i mean look at me im 12 and im playing trumpet that part is sorta hard moving the valves alot so to all you fellow trumpets if you are playing this youll be fascinated when you play this, all you got to do to perfect it is listen to it non stop and dont say you cant do i gave up trap muic for this song the first time i heard it i replayed without stopping, so dont give up.
Kid if you’re twelve you should have proper grammar.
“Trap Music”
GLopez21 same!! I play the Flute and this is my favorite song!!
Best songs I’ve played on my trumpet so far 😀 love the whole thing
My band just played this for our may concert. Our director is Laura T. you should know her. you mentored her when she was a student teacher. Amazing piece by the way. Let me know if you remember her.
I like this song. Very Randall D. Standridge style of music, like armory.
Our high school symphonic band is combining with the two middle school bands to play this song, the timpani part is so fun
I'll be playing this in 6 days for my band concert this is my 8th grade year final year in middle school last year for a while now playing 1st trumpet music since in going into highschool yay happy can't wait to wow all the parents and my school mates with opportunities
Playing this for honor band. It is a wonderful piece!!!!😃😄
As a Tenor Sax player, most of my parts in band are pretty simple and boring; very rare when I get an important or interesting part in a song.
This song, however...
In this song, I get the tune a lot, and I get a lot of difficult parts.
This song goes hard. Almost like it's supposed to be Aggressive.
I remember playing this at the Hernando DeSoto Honor Band 2014-15 that you conducted yourself. Still one of my favorite songs!
I played at my camp it’s was a fun song but I wish there was some high notes on clarinet 2
I am a trombone player and i am a girl GIRLPOWER
SAMMMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEE
except not a girl so... BOYPOWEEEERRRRR!!!!!!
Sexist and bass clairinet is better ;)
so... there are alot of them
me too!!
Randall Strandige you are amazing! I always loved playing your pieces. Especially this one! I have so many favorite parts as a flute player.
My band trying to learn this now, pray for us
Let me tell you, this song on timpani is a workout
i got sax part 1 and i literally wanna die than play this
Trombone player here
ended up playing this song at band camp and then 8th grade honor band and got it memorized the first time around
think im gonna actually try to learn how to play this really well
I’m playing this in our district honor band! 1st Chair Trumpet! Brass Rocks!🤑
i played this on february 24th, 2018 and it was lit
Doing snare drum on this one
RANDY ONLY MAKES BANGERS
This sounds so good and we are plying the exact same thing at our spring concert in April....We are going to sound AWESOME!!!! I can not stop listening to this!!!
Playing timpani on this part I can’t wait!!!
everyone’s talking about how hard this song is but the timpani is so fun
FF16 battle music leaked
I played the trombone part of this song in 7th grade. So fun!
I love this song. I also love Brighton Camp, Darklands March, and Afterburn
the CLAPPING SO COOL
this is pretty much a meme for my band
I will take that as a huge compliment.
I specifically hated this song just for the clapping. Otherwise it was great and fun to play but the clapping killed it for me plus I play the tuba.
It annoys me when people think that 2nd graders play it they DONT...my friends that aren't in band say y did u play 2nd grader music last year and it made me so mad .-.
Playing the baritone for this in 9th grade
I had to learn this in 3 weeks and only going 2 days a week so it was very hard but the whole band did it amazing
One of our flute players is horrible and keeps making the flutes sound bad :(
2020 anyone?
Guys. Stop complaining about it being 2nd grade. Maybe it's in college or something.
Don’t you love when you have to figure this song out in 2 days since the honor band you have had this song 😂
Playing this song last year was very fun and now I get to play anouther one of his songs Shadow Cove March
Does anyone know any flute notes? I’m kinda confused for this song. Thanks if you know!
I am in grade 9! we are playing with the grade 7s and 8s, there are lots of people in my band! It sounds really good right now!! we are going to perform it soon!! I think XD
How’d it go?
