Bro I was one of the guys complaining on your last video about not testing the K&N intake and I just came across your video today. THANK YOU for coming back and doing this test.
Shorter intake pipes are better. Daily use option 1: filter behind the headlight or option 2: close as possible to the driver’s shock tower. Best one I’ve seen on a K-series engine rally car, the filter was fitted straight to the intake tb, inside a custom air ram scoop box behind the front grill. Racing intake velocity stack on the front bumper is a whole different thing.
You should have shortened the straight tube a few inches at a time to show how the wave length affects the power graph, you might even find a sweet spot the fills in the dip completely. Would be interesting to see if an ideal length 3" can outperform the 3.5 ready made intake at least at this power level.
In this video: we see a wild tuner at home in the shop on his day off. Maad scientist with a dyno, love it. Appreciate all the answers to questions unanswered previously. Do you think these results are directly applicable to a k24a2? Hopefully closely? Sad if not.
I swapped out an injen SRI for a Hybrid CAI my lap time best improved from 1:20 to 1:19 & top speed on main straight from 189km/h to 192km/h. The Hybrid CAI is 950mm long.
I'm excited for the throttlebody test! I have a ktuned 72mm with inlet ported RBC. Was always wondering how the ktuned compares to the zdx throttlebody since so many of my friends trash talk on the ktuned TB hahaha Last time made 213/153 with a bad clutch, grabbing a stage 2 clutch kit in a couple weeks, and putting in skunk2 stage 1 cams after clutch break-in to finish off the stockpile of my fbo parts from last year. Can't wait to hit better numbers lol
Quality content right here, excellent A/B testing. I'm curious how the ~2.75" MAF-safe CAIs like Injen, AEM, and DC would compare, maybe somewhere in between the short rams and the 3-3.5". Would you expect any differences in peak power with MAF based tunes vs MAP?
Thanks - As for the MAF vs MAP tunes. Realistically if they were both tuned they should both be the same peak power. That being said, i personally like the "feel" or driving characteristics of a MAP tune vs a MAF tune. It feels more lively
@@AmirFauzi666 he already change like 10times the intakes. With a lift, you change a exhaust in 25min tops. Thank god i didn't ask you, cuz you would take a whole day since it's "too much work" u idiot.
Should of done a test without the filter and just the velocity stack on the longer intake tube but overall great testing k series motors love 3-3.5 inch diameters
Loving the content! For another series, maybe you can consider doing a K20 vs K24 comparison using dyno plots from your customers. It would be cool to see those charts overlaid so we can see the performance difference with those 2 engines. If you have the data, you can even show a progression from stock to bolt ons to see how well each engine responds to each mod.
My RSX K20 vs K24 video is a really good example of just that - ruclips.net/video/2sOuhkUx9Wk/видео.html I'll keep it in mind to try and do some more customer dyno graph comparisons tho
Realistically that dip is a characteristic of the parts on the engine, to change what the graph looks like you need to change the parts. Such as i have shown on the 2 videos. Different combos of parts will have different graph lines
Please do a hybrid racing intake test, I’m curious to see the numbers as my FBO stock engine k20z3 has been beating every other all motor 8th gen with a custom hybrid racing intake to a velocity stack that comes out of the front fog light location, no filter just a metal mesh as a filter to keep rocks and debris from getting into the engine
I would happily do other intakes - If someone can lend me one or if you guys can convince companies to send me one I will happily do more comparison testing
So i noticed you haven't posted the throttle body video yet. IDk if you ll have different results but when i had my 72mm go get port matched the rbc doesn't match so its like 71 1/2 and the person who ported said he made a it curve to reduce turbulence
Would of like to see the velocity stack with out the filter

You've heard of bosozoku exhaust
Now get ready for bosozoku intake
I would like to see hybrid racing CAI tested
same
Me too
Short answer: the intake pipe is too long. Goes to same location as AEM and Injen.
@Nick let me know if you want me to bring my hybrid racing CAI for you to test
both videos were super useful!! glad we can watch along and find out
I would have loved these videos 8 years ago... lol. Super useful comparison though. Keep up the great content.

All your videos are 🔥 no matter what the subject is. Always got good info. Thanks
I appreciate that!
love this series.
Man.... these videos are awesome.
Thanks!
Nick you are awesome for doing these comparisons! 👌 You just got another subscriber 😎
Thanks for your time and effort.
Really wish I lived near you. I'm going to need my si tuned.
I’d be curious to see how restrictive the factory air box setup is if you could manage to get your hands on one
agree ^
Made 211 with a OEM airbox so not to restrictive.
@@beatzzc1t what else did you have done? Was that with the stock filter?
It would be interesting see afr also
Awesome videos man, really appreciate it
Thanks - Glad you guys like it
Awesome bonus vid 👍👍

really appreciated your videos keep up the good work
These videos 🔥🙌
I'm glad I got the K&N short ram intake. It was a nice sound upgrade before I got my flash pro.
bro I have the K&N SRI, and want to get a flashpro, how much of a difference did you feel after your tune with the SRI?
I swapped out an injen SRI for a Hybrid CAI my lap time best improved from 1:20 to 1:19 & top speed on main straight from 189km/h to 192km/h. The Hybrid CAI is 950mm long.

Do a vstack without the filter please! Love the video keep them coming!
Looked at the engine and it looks like your scar is smoking a big ass blunt! Lol

Do a header test next.
4-2-1 vs 4-1, equal length vs uel, etc.
I would like to see this as well but it would be a little hard to change between headers
@@DColeman yeah especially in the fg2 and fa5
Wouldn’t you have to tune the car to see the best results from each intake, because the car was tuned for the 3.5” cold air
Goooood point....
The velocity stack *without* the filter.
This is my exact car color n everything
Do a exhaust test also, 2.5'' vs 3''.
Too much work. U dumb?

The TB test man
Should of done a test without the filter and just the velocity stack on the longer intake tube but overall great testing k series motors love 3-3.5 inch diameters
Dumb question and its 3.years old but . Did you ever try with the stock air box just to see how it compares to the short rams ?
Second this ^
Still waiting... 😢

@@tuningbynick thanks for sharing that video. Will check that out!
You should’ve did the velocity stack with no filter.
Should I write I love you in all your videos? Thank you
is there no way to get rid of that huge power dip in the mid range? vtec? vtec? love the videos by the way! keep them coming!!
Realistically that dip is a characteristic of the parts on the engine, to change what the graph looks like you need to change the parts. Such as i have shown on the 2 videos. Different combos of parts will have different graph lines
I bet the hondatune programmer or whatever it’s called would improve it noticeably, with vtec kicking in at like 4200-4500rpm or so...
could u do a flame 2 step tune for a all motor 8th gen si on flashpro? just like the one you did with the rsx on hondata
can you show us how to install that ktuned intake? ive been looking all over the web for instructions and there isnt any
If you did your tests in sae corrected mode wouldn't that account for any weather changes?..
You should try out a v6 honda j32a2 TL or CL would be cool
How much are all the mods you listed in the description? Also do you do pre-purchase inspections? Lol

@@tuningbynick where are you located? I’d be down to take you my intake setup since I don’t really run the whole v stack since it’s winter now
Bro, also will need test Groupe M intake. It has released for DC5
Lol. It's over $1k. What a joke

I am hoping to have time to do the TB video very soon, hopefully next week
Je comprends jamais pourquoi il y a 2 courbes ensuite 4 courbes etc. On ne sait pas quelle courbe correspond à l'admission installée
Are you going to test manifolds as well rbc, rbc ported, rrc, skunk2 etc..
I’d like to. If I can get my hands on a bunch of manifolds I will
I would like to see a 3.5" SRI like a rick spec'd intake
he did with the k-tuned 3.5 SRI in the last video, which looks exactly like the old rick spec'd
@@RMFA5 thanks I'll check out the last video
cold air intakes arent getting the benifit of the wind being thrown at them
Subbed
I thought it would inhale the air sensor
lol
CAi without filter?? 🤔🤔🤔🤔
hey. do you just tune Hondas? Just curious
I dont only tune Honda, but it just works out most of my business is Hondas
How do I go about getting one of your tunes for my car?
Shoot me an email and I’d be happy to discuss- nick@tuningbynick.com
What about 4"?
On a stock na car I don’t think would make any difference
Can you convert a short ram to a long tube or cold air intake?
