As an ex-BBC TV producer and journalist, I have lived and worked in 17 countries and Dubai police really are amongst the best there are. They are very professional in my opinion and they are very fair in the way the handle people. Sadly I do have one gripe which sad to say will always stick with me. I had a disabled wheelchair bound friend visiting and he carries an International disabled notice (which includes Arabic) to use in a car. We went to MOE and with little spaces available we parked in the disabled spot and displayed the notice, I got his wheelchair out and helped him from the car and we did the tourism thing in MOE. I got a hefty fine and my car was impounded . The security people said the policeman never got out of the car to look at any notice. I always see Porsches and Range Rovers parked in disabled parking and I see apparently healthy young men and women get out of the cars and walk away. Do they ever have their Porsche impounded I wonder. This is an event that will stick with me.
As I have been living here for the past 23 years, I can definitely say this: like all countries, uae has a little bit of corruption in the police, 98% of them are super awesome and kind and caring, but the 2% are what residents here call fine hungry, basically they will seek every opportunity to fine anyone and everyone except rich people. Henceforth I am a little nervous putting this comment out.
@@SolacedMasculinity actually I also thought like this I used to be very scared of the Dubai police but after watching some videos I see that there methods help catch a lot of high profile criminals so it’s healthy for the country’s sake

im seeing people complain about fines due to violation of the rules, im pretty certain thats the whole point of the fine, to discourage you from breaking the rules, understand its scary when you have someone drive stupid thinking they have control, it could cost you your life
The problem with fines is that someone earning $200,000/year will feel the pain of the fine a lot less than someone on $50,000/year. Fines should not be an amount but a percentage of income.

In my area, red light cameras were deemed unconstitutional because the owner of the cars were being charged with running a red light when it wasn't always the owners driving. I'm not sure if the state fixed that or not.
AllAmericanGuy01 here in Ontario, Canada we (owner of vehicle) get a $350 fine and NO demerit points for that reason. You can chose to fight in court but you are legally required to identify the driver in court, which opens room for the ~$600 fine and demerit points.
ReadyToGo That's also protected under our constitutional rights, they can't force us to identify somebody. I'm assuming you live in Pennsylvania? We have the same issue, so far the best conclusion was they post a sign stating that the red light camera will take your picture if you run it.
AllAmericanGuy01 - here in NJ they deemed all red light cameras unsafe and all have been deactivated. There have been less accidents at the intersections where people used to slam on their brakes to prevent a red light ticket in the mail.
Nope. Same in MO all redlight cameras were required to be taken down.... Mainly because the judge ruled them as an unnecessary reason to increase revenue and it violates our rights..... The same city where our inital law suit was also got sued for pulling people over for flashing headlights to warn other drivers of police ahead... Didnt end well for the PD in that instance either
These measures are definitely effective. When I was driving in Dubai I couldn't spot one driver act up for the 2 weeks I was there. In NYC, where I also drive Uber, I can spot 6 crazy drivers in any given hour.
I have to say some of the things here are not true. You can drive and everybody in Dubai drives 20km/h more thenspeed limit and you will never get a ticket. On shaik zaid road you have 100km/h speed limit and you can drive 120km/h you will never get a ticket. Also you can eat and use your cell phone in a car you will never get any ticket.
He said the technology for seatbelts is still WIP. The reason cars going 120 on the speedometer don't get tickets is because speedometers are usually set to show a lower speed by 5 to 8km in cars and more in motorcycles to prevent manufacturers being sued. On the other hand, people going over 120 GPS speed do get tickets. That's usually 125 to 128 on the speedometer on most cars. Tesla does in fact give correct speed on the speedo
lol its not a hoverbike its a slow-ass drone half the speed of a bicycle. strapping rotating blades to a vehicle police are meant to quickly hop on and get off in urgent situations is a terrible idea and unsafe to the public
