I just dropped her off at the door and went to find a parking spot and this randomly came up in my subscription feed. This song is so beautiful and perfectly describes how I feel about her. I have always loved the music you create. I've been married for 16 years to an incredible woman. This song does such a wonderful job of describing the nuances of a relationship and the way that they impact the heart. That key change was hauntingly beautiful. As a musician, when I saw the words on the page before it occurred I didn't know what to expect because that's not a commonly used song writing technique. There was a visceral response when I heard it. It felt like realizing what I was just arguing about with my wife was unimportant, and being reminded of how much I love her. Not butterflies, but deep gratitude. Thank you for this Bygones. I am so excited to get the vinyl. I purchased a vintage record player just for this. Keep playing and God bless.

This is the song I played when I proposed to the love of my life of the past 7 and a half years. Thank you for writing the feelings so many feel but can’t put into words
That key change is crazy!!! Using the i chord instead of the I chord is super abrupt and dark and introspective, but by the time we reach the bVII chord (which is now the new I chord a whole tone down), we've had its ii and IV chords so it feels completely natural and sweet.
That rare thing, a gorgeous ballad, lyrics, vocals and production in perfect balance.
What a gorgeous definition of Love. Or, whatever that is. I adore your stuff!
Don't know what's gonna happen in 2024... except that the day I get this on vinyl, I'm taking taking a mental health day off from work to devote some solid time to this album. Cannot. Wait.
@usagi2988 your comment sparked a memory, one of the best kind for me. When I was young, going to the record store and thumbing thru the racks of vinyl. Admiring the cover art, turning it over to look at the list of album tracks. Finally, making my selections and paying for them. Ultimately arriving home, sitting cross-legged on the floor. Breathlessly peeling off the plastic wrap and carefully removing the vinyl disk from its enclosure. Disk goes on the turntable, music fills the once empty air. Best if the words to songs were included, if not, the liner notes were an interesting read. My idea of great entertainment on a weekend afternoon in the '70s.
That key change is simply mesmerising, weird and obvious at the same time and its brightning effect lasts forever. Gorgeous modest song.
I think this song might be an instant classic, Josh. Lyrics, music, harmonies and playing are all completely beautiful! And the vid is fantastically creative.
