I based this list off history, not just current day. And I know some of these aren’t big time rivalries, but in the states with only a few D1 teams, the options were limited. This video took a very long time to put together, so if you could just drop a like or comment it would be much appreciated!

@@drbright2073 Really? Have you checked the W-L record between the two school? Stanford has beaten USC about once every 8 to 10 years. UCLA is much closer to having a. .500 record against USC than Stanford is. (And UCLA has a winning record against every other PAC-8, PAC-10 or PAC-12 school, except for USC.) A rivalry should mean that the competition between the two schools is fairly even. I think you should change your handle to Doctor Moron!

It's not the most popular rivalry in Mississippi but it's a lot more even history wise than the Egg Bowl.

Same reason why i feel the GSU-SU is a better rivalry than LSU-Tulane, while it has been around longer than the Bayou Classic, LSU is up 69-22 on Tulane and has only lost to Tulane 4 times in 70 years. I don't really consider those games fr rivalry games when it's so one sided, it makes you wonder why it should be considered a "rivalry" in the first place. Only worse rivalry i can think of is OU-OSU, where Oklahoma is up 88-18 on Oklahoma State.
I was thinking the same thing. SU and Grambling without a doubt is by far the longest active rivalry within the state of Louisiana.

nobody cares about them they are FCS. and are very tiny schools. FCS shouldn't be considered "D1" either. Basically glorified high school teams. Pitt and Penn State are MUCH MUCH bigger and better. Both would destroy no competition fcs teams. and Pitt and Penn state both actually have fans that root for them
As a USC alum/fan in Northern California, I will give the longer history to Cal-Stanford. But USC-UCLA definitely tops the "Big Game" in overall national relevance. Stanford may have had a few good seasons of relevance, but UCLA has had far more overall success. Cal does have the occasional winning season...
I always felt Notre Dame was USC’s biggest rival whereas all their rivalries with the other California teams felt like sibling rivalries.

The reason I say USC-UCLA however, is that the video above focuses on in-state rivalries. For example. every Michigan fan would say that Ohio State is their biggest rival, but they absolutely HATE HATE HATE losing to "little brother" Michigan State... something that has happened quite a bit in recent years.
Losing to ND stings, but usually there's a grudging admittance that the Irish were a better team on the day. But we expect to beat UCLA, and losing is a humiliation that lasts for a year and we are reminded of that by Bruin family members, friends and co-workers happy to remind us that the Victory Bell is in Westwood. Yes, the overall history of USC-UCLA is one of Trojan dominance, but Bruins often remind me of the "8 in a row" in the '90s... 😡😡😡
@@jerseydevs2000 I understand what you’re saying completely. I actually relate to it a lot as an Oregon fan. If you asked me who I hate the most, it would be by far the Washington Huskies. I cannot for the life of me stand that purple and gold. But it also hurts a lot tremendously whenever we lose to Oregon State because like you said, us Ducks then have to endure our Beaver friends and family and coworkers constantly telling us that they beat us that year. I wish we had an official trophy for that rivalry like you guys in LA do or the Washington teams have with the Apple Cup. We technically do, but it’s nowhere near as cool as either of those rivalries trophies and it’s not really handed over after the games anymore. At least not to my knowledge. But at least we have a substantially higher victory count over them than they do us. Something I can’t say the same about for Washington. But at least we can always remind the Fuskies about 2004-2015.

Ok I’ve been reading your comments and I’ll admit I definitely should’ve put Grambling vs Southern for Louisiana and apparently Florida vs Florida State over Miami vs Florida State. Personally, as a FSU fan, I’ve always viewed Miami as a historically bigger game but I guess everyone disagrees with me on that one😕
I wouldn't say it's historically bigger but I'll say it means a bit more than FSU vs UF because FSU vs Miami is a conference game while FSU vs UF is just for bragging rights unless a playoff berth is involved for the winner.
Historically, Florida state would have won many more championships if it weren't for Miami. I can see why he chose fsu vs miami as the better rivalry.
@@ghost3051 I'm sure you can use the same argument for FSU and UF considering many of their battles were doing either one or both were national title contenders and with the game being at the end of the season, the loser was usually left out of the title picture.

FSU-Miami is BETTER. When FSU and Miami hit their primes at the same time, every game had national title implications on the line. Fla-FSU only had 2 years in the 90s where there national title implications. After that FSU and Miami declined as Florida rose up under Meyer.
Nah you’re good for the Florida one. I’m a Gator fan and while I consider UF Vs FSU one of the bigger rivalry games out there I’d concede it to FSU Vs Miami for the state, even if I hate the hell out of both of those teams. Personally I consider UGA to be our biggest rival.

I would legitimately argue that the battle of the ravine, D2 Ouachita Baptist and D2 Henderson State, is the biggest rivalry in Arkansas. I know it’s D2, but the colleges are across the street from each other and they are at equal power levels.
Most people don't realize how ugly the Clemson-Carolina rivalry is. The same game that the first highlight was from, when Clemson went up 20-0, the students section threw glass bottles and cups at Clemson's players and even hit one of the police officers. Was cussed out by twenty members of the Carolina student section leaving the game. I was 9 and did not know the word "fuck". Just google the rivalry. It's worse than most of the well-known rivalries.
And there was the seven minute "fall brawl" in 2004.

Living in Missouri for most of my life Mizzou vs. Missouri State is not a rivalry here. I didn't know if the criteria for picking these were that both teams had to be in the same state, but Mizzou is the only FBS college football team in Missouri. The definitive "rivalry" in Missouri used to be Mizzou vs. Kansas, but they stopped playing us when we moved to the SEC. Our current football rivalry is probably Mizzou vs. Arkansas, but it certainly doesn't feel like one. It would be great if KU would agree to play us again and ignite the rivalry...it actually has Civil War roots. Thanks for putting this video together. It's entertaining to think about and look at.

I would put USC-UCLA ahead of Cal-Stanford. Both schools are in the same county and grads of the two schools end up in similar job environments. If your team loses that rivalry game, you are going to be hearing about it on the street and in the office for the next year.

My guess would be at least 15 times. How many times was the Rose Bowl invitation on the line when Cal and Stanford played? I would guess would be about 5 times. Yeah as an SC fan I know we suck, but every year the night before the rival game, SC makes a 20ft tall wooden tiger with orange fabric and all, then burn it to the ground. As an A&M fan I miss the lone star showdown, but on top of that it would be nice to have the Battle of the Brazos (A&M VS Baylor) back too.
How is California not USC vs UCLA?
Cal Stanford has one of the biggest moments in cfb history and all casual fans know it's the biggest game of the year for each team. USC UCLA struggles for the casual fans as UCLA isnt very good, so there's never a big game between the two. I'm 32 and I cant remember ucla being good.
How is it not Stanford USC. 11-9 to Stanford since the 2000 season. Cal hasn’t beat Stanford since the 2009 season and USC/UCLA rivalry is dead until both teams are top 25 teams year in year out.

USC vs. UCLA is the Biggest Rivalry in California. Stanford/Cal used to be competitive & they have a few classic games but it hasn't been very competitive in the past 10-15 years or so.
The Battle of LA/The Victory Bell games have been the deciding game in Conference championships, Division titles, Rose Bowl berths & National Championships!!

I honestly love the FCS and group of five rivalries more because although they are smaller you get more a community vibe and there’s more real passion over bandwagon passion.
I’m from Ohio and I can tell you right now that no one cares about Miami vs. Cincinnati, the game we truly care about and I’m sure Michigan can agree is the Ohio State vs. Michigan game, this is the biggest regular season game in the 2 states.
