Thank you so much for calming me and my kitty cat. He had a little cold right now he’s been sneezing and sniffling all day for the past few days and he so sleepy. I was worried bc I thought his condition was fatal and I can’t afford to take him to the vet just yet. But he’s doing a little better and I’m comforting him through this crappy time
Hi there, I am so happy to hear your kitten is doing better and that these tips were helpful. If he's still congested try putting him in a steamy bathroom for a while, too. That can really help and the kitties find it soothing!
I know ....its just so worrisome isn't it. Your fur baby probably has the worst behind them after 3 days . I am worrying as well right now not knowing whether to take my girl to doctor and put her through that stress ....its such a trauma and a cold just has to sorta run its course
I feel the same way about my girl. That is why I'm here to see if there is anything I can do in the meantime. She is playing around with her semblance I wonder could her semblance get it from playing with her. I don't want to break their fun, but I also don't want another one getting sick 😒
My cat has the worst sinus issues. When we adopted him from the humane society they said he’d been there 2 years bc nobody wanted a sneezing and wheezing cat. But he’s just the sweetest baby I’ve ever had. He lays in my arms like a baby every night. Prob is, nothing works for him that the vet has given him. I started using a humidifier with eucalyptus and that gives him more comfort. I’m going to get some saline and try that. He hates his face touched so good luck to me in this one. Thanks so much for the video!
With sick cats, 250 milligrams lysine 2x per day seems to help quite a bit... adding 200 milligrams daily to their food seems to help prevent URI and even UTI to some extent. It tastes pretty salty, so you might have to add it to a strong flavor (a little beef gravy for example) for your cat to want to eat it. It's a very affordable and easy to find supplement
Thank you for this one. We have a senior cat and he's actually pretty affectionate only towards me. He's currently having colds and this will surely helps.
Hey, thanks for making this video. I've never had a cat as a pet before but my landlord preferred if I did not get a large dog. Went to the shelter and adopted an old cat that had been there for a while. It worked out nicely because he wanted a home and he helps me out with my PTSD. Anyways, when I got him he was overweight and I had to put him on a diet plan from the vet. He is always vocal about food and when I noticed he wasn't finishing his food I started to worry. He became reclusive and then very quiet. I'm still going to take him into the vet tomorrow but this video got me thinking about his lack of sense of smell. I bought some canned soft food that has a potent smell and once I opened the can he meowed. Made me happy to hear his meow again and now he's eating. Anyways, thanks for posting this. Its given me ideas to helps him eat and maybe comfort him.
omg thank you so much my little baby boy has been sick for four days and this video really helped! i love that you took pictures of the things you used for Buster. i find the medicine and it’s actually affordable. i called several vets and it’s like they wanted me to pay money instead of giving me recommendations so that i can find it for cheap. thanks cat community
I wish I knew this before very helpful for my rescued 4 kittens. They were sick when I rescued them. This video is Definitely going to help them breathing. Thank you for the video. Great advice.
Aw man! I needed that Qtip trick a few minutes ago! Def will do that next time. I doused a cat. Lol thank you! I have 3 with URIs right now and wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything. After I brush, I'll wipe them down with a warm wash cloth. Also, if your cat likes to drink warm water.. I fill a pitcher halfway with hot water and let em stick its head in to drink the water. Mini nasal spa.
Thankyou. My Mr. Weasel is sick. I did the eye cleaning and nose. Now I'm keeping him warm and he did have some warm chicken broth. He's 11 and still a tree climber and bird chaser.
I hope Mr. Weasel is feeling better! I bet the warm chicken broth is very comforting for him. Sending lots of loving and "get-well" vibes from Kitten School!
Kitten School Thankyou. He's still resting and staying warm. Good news is he was looking out the window and started 'Chatter Cussin" a bird. A true sign he's bouncing back. I even have one of my layin hens under the weather. She's being kept in the garage and nested under a heat lamp. This darn cool wet Northern Ohio weather hasn't been good for anyone.
Carolyn Kosin He's is frisky and frolicking like a kitten again. His 'cat cold' over. But I have been putting AC vinegar in the cat water dish and in my chickens water dish. Thankfully it's finally warm up and there's not standing water all over. I can even finally get in the fields and start planting corn and soy....it's been a rotten wet cold spring here.
Thank you for this video! My tabby recently got sick with a cold and I've been wondering what I can do to make her feel better. So this is very helpful! I've also read that adding a pinch of L-Lysine to their food will help keep FVR at bay.
Hi there! I am so glad you are finding the videos helpful while caring for your sweetie. How is she doing? And yes, L-Lysine seems to help in my experience. I regularly give it to some of my older cats who occasionally flare up with cold-like symptoms as a result of the virus.
@@KittenSchool my 14 year old female cat has recurring sinus infections. 4 in 2021 and 2 so far in 2022. The vet just keeps giving her antibiotics but for these past two bouts of sickness, doxycycline hasn’t helped. I want to know the root cause because I know she’s older and I worry :( I just feel lost without much help from the vet besides giving antibiotics each time. I appreciate your video. I’ve used so many tissues on her but I feel so bad for her little nose.
Thank you!!!! I'm a "cat lady" and my poor cats face exploded with more snot than any of my kids ever did, lol! Thank god for steam treatments in the bathroom and your advice! Appreciate you!
Thank you this is very helpful. I also put my cat in the carrier case, place a hot bowl of water in front of the cage door, throw a towel over the whole thing and make a tent, like e little steam room for them. I let them stay there for about 15 mins to let them breathe, warm humidified air. They always calm down when I do this and they choose to stay in the cage even after I've opened the door for them.
So helpful as my 17 yr old kitty has such a bad cold! She sneezes so much she can't eat. Been to the vet and got antibiotics but this is taking forever to clear. Didn't think of saline on a q tip so thank you!
Hi Dawn! I am so glad this video was helpful. Saline can be so helpful for a congested kitty, even though they don't exactly love having liquid dripped into their nostrils! Hope your kitty is feeling better.
Thank you for this video! i have a very sweet stray cat that seems to be having a flare up of FHV and calicivirus. eyes and nose were very leaky and she sounded congested when breathing. i ended up bringing her to the bathroom with steam and a humidifier to helps loosen some of that nose congestion. Also, used saline in her nose, she hated it at first, but it seems to be working. also gave her a little brushing today she was covered in grass and twigs and didn't seems to be grooming herself. i got her some L-lysine treats for immune support but she refuses to take them -___-. but at least shes back to eating and i think she will be totally fine it just takes some time :)) glad i watched this video to confirm i was doing everything right! yes!!
@Baby Kimi FHV is not usually life threatening as long as you are treating it (which you are) although once your cat has it they will have it for life and the symptoms may flare up during a stressful time for your kitty. it is very common in cats just keep your kitty comfortable and follow your vets directions :) hoping your cat gets well soon
Was she is eating when you found her? My kitten is not eating and the vet has given up on him. I'm keeping him warm and used saline nasal drops today. I hope he starts drinking milk.
I have a four week old kitten group that was brought to my rescue at birth with mommy. They said mommy became very angry and dangerous around their young children, which tends to happen with young kids and cute kitties. Now it is spreading around my rescue like wild fire and only two of the kittens are considered really sick. One of them just started having breathing issues today and is struggling to sneeze cause she is so stuffy and her poor ribs hurt and are tender from having issues trying to breathe. So I am very grateful for your videos you have on here. They are very helpful right now. I have had one of my kittens who is four weeks older pass away from refusing to allow help he attacked us frequently and caused damage more to us than his self, but he did not pull through in the end due to fear. This is very helpful. You should do a video on hot to treat kitties with fevers and how to handle those types of situations.
I mix a little bit of lactose free milk with natural honey. Apparently unpasteurized honey is a powerful antibiotic and safe for cats to eat moderately. My cat eats about a quarter teaspoon a day for about 3-5 days. My cat is 18 years old now.
My senior cat has a URI and the vet gave her antibiotics, antivirals, Sub Q fluids and appetite stimulant (antihistamine) medication. She quit eating again this morning and sounding very stuffy again. I watched your video and gave nacl++ drops to her nares and OMG she started to eat and drink again... Thank You so much I was going to take her back to the vet this morning if she wouldn't start to eat and drink again. Why didn't I ever think of this?
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I have spent two hours trying to think of a way that would actually get the meds in Tulip's nose without hurting her. One of my other furbabies Cricket loves the full on spray. She will see me get the bottle and start "cough/sneezing" so she can have "her" meds too. Anywho, thank you again. :D
Thank you for the info.. My sweet Milo is on meds from our vet and seemed to be doing better and then all the sudden starting making congestion noises.. I don't have any of the nasal spray so we had a steam room visit for a few minutes and then I gave him his nightly medication. He seems to be doing better ,, No more noises so far,,, I rescued Milo from a over run home with too many kittens and poor living conditions. He is about 7 weeks now but was 3 weeks when I found him..
Hi Angel John! I am glad to hear that Milo is doing better. I have a foster kitten now who has a lot of congestion and the steam room helps a lot. It is so sad to see a stuffed up kitten who can't breathe! Milo is very lucky you rescued him and I am sure he will give you a lifetime of love and companionship. Thanks for watching and also for the very nice comment! **Caroline
Thank you for sharing. We always keep a lot of abandoned kitties from the road but the weather is not nice in our place so they get a cold easily and sad thing is there's no vet available in my hometown cause it's in a rural province. This has given me tips and for my mom to better take care of them.
Thank you for this. Very helpful. I'm not one to run to a doctor for my own cold, so learning how to probably avoid a vet visit for my cats is quite useful.
My cat has same thing. A chronic virus. Many rounds of antibiotics. He also does a l-lysine chew daily of 500mg. Best price is online. I break it into pieces and he gets in morning. Stress is a huge factor. I don’t leave him home alone anymore. He always has someone to come and visit or check on him. Great friends so he only goes a day alone if I need to travel. He gets a lot of love as the only pet. Last year was very hard when I fostered two dogs. Never again. That really triggered him and it’s been steady with symptoms ever since. Keep house clean. Diet is key he is on a limited Ingredient diet reduced allergies and he has IBS. He hates taking antibiotics and vomits after so he never quite gets over it.
Great video! Thank you for sharing. We asked the vet to flush it out, but he is still a little runny on one side of nostril. He is better, but still a little bit congested. He is on anti-biotics as well. It is scary though.
I find cooking a pot of chicken soup helps. The boiling water ads mositute to the air and they love eating the soup when done. Also a pot of boiling water with a table spoon of Vicks works great for both humans and fur babies sinuses. Love your idea about the Q tips. I keep some of the cold off the glass windows by taping bubble wrap onto glass. Electric blankets works great for the seniors, or my warm water. Yep they let me share it with them. Thanks for the great tips. Hope my tips can gelp.also
What a brilliant idea with Vicks I did think of Obis oil in water but now as I have some Vicks I, shall use that for my Cat. He has been to the Vets today. for the 4 time with a allergy he has Antibiotics oral but now on the second dose of long acting Antibiotic injection as my Vet thinks it might be seasonal but I am going to the Vets to have a look up his nose and a nasal wash so hopefully that will clear it up once and for all I, do wipe his face and put Baby Saline on a pad but never thought of cotton buds. So, thank you on pet owner’s comment it does help.
Thank you! My Theo looks just like Buster, a d so sweet as well. I also run my hot water in the shower for a few minutes to create steam in the bathroom to help clear his nose. I then feed him in there.
Thank you for this! I didn't have kitties growing up and now I have a distinguished lady cat who's been getting what I believe are small colds the past year. I'd like to help her when they get annoying for her but most of the youtube videos that I've watched so far are a bit doomsday-ey haha This was perfect! So sweet & caring with the kitty too.
Thank you for the nice comment! Hope your kitty is feeling better. Some of my adult resident cats occasionally get sniffles, and I put drops in for them to help their nasal passages keep moist. They don't love it when I do this, but I know it helps!
@@KittenSchool thank you and you’re not gonna believe what happened to cause this in March I witnessed him throwing up I don’t know if it was a hairball or ? Seems he got a piece of dry food stuck in his back nasal/sinus? . He only gets a couple tablespoons of Young Again zero carb dry food as a treat throughout the day. But when he threw up he was kind of aspirating trying to clear his nose and clear his lungs it was so scary for him & me. Well three days later he started sneezing and draining from his right nasal passages. So I took him to the vet she said well he’s an indoor cat so it can’t be an obstruction. And I said well it might be some dry food got stuck in his nasal passages. And I told her what I had witnessed. So she put him on some anabiotic that started with a V and that did zero. So I opted for a nasal flush which seemed so brutal to heal from. She was telling me he may sneeze blood I was like freaking out thankfully he never sneezed blood but he did have some dried blood on the end of his nose for three days and I kept removing softly with a warm wet soft Kleenex But after the third day he was doing really well. But by the sixth day he was back with bubbling right nasal passage and at least it’s clear. But it’s only on the right side and so the vet put him on Doxy for 10 days by the seventh day I noticed a little bit of improvement so on the 10th day I emailed her if we should do another round so she put him on another half a round of Doxy. Seems he’ll have a good day & he’ll have runny bubbly days and oh I forgot to mention taking him to the vet about his nasal passage they found out he has a heart murmur. He’s a rescue Maine coon mix. Anyway they wanted to do a heart scan and they found out that at this point it’s not hurting him which is good news. When he came home from the vet which was his second time in a few days he really wanted me to hold him I was holding him and loving him and a piece of dry food came out of his nose! Now it was by now soft and it was scary but I did get it out and I just wonder how much is left up there. I’m wondering if his body is trying to encapsulate whatever is up there and making some kind of tumor or something it’s just got my mind blown I don’t know what to do. So that’s an ongoing struggle and I thought by doing little remedies saline infant formula would be mild enough. And the vet approved that I didn’t know you could use full strength. Just want to get him well.
OMG!! I wish I had this a week ago!! I have 4 cats and they have been getting sick in sequence. The first 2 are nearly fully recovered. Now the hard part!! A Norwegian Forest cat with a hole in his heart & heart failure. I’ve been up since yesterday working on him. He’s got a long way to go and I’m trying to avoid a drive to the vet an hour away. Dr is preserving antibiotics since he’s her heart patient. These along with a humidifier should help a whole bunch. 🤞🤞
Thank you for your video. This will help me with my two cats having flu right now. I also brought them to the vet last weekend and taking home medications. my older cats starts in recovery (shes eating now) unfortunately my younger cat still does not eat. But she drink waters. i used wet wipes to wipes his nose and eyes discharge.
My cat has had to take Doxycycline for long periods of time. It smells & tastes horrible. One thing I have discovered is that it can actually be hidden when mixed in Fancy Feast Salmon Pate. I wouldn’t feed my cat this food all the time but it works really well to hide medicine in. Makes it much less traumatizing for kitty. Keeps everyone calmer ☺️
You might want to advise running a humidifier .....I read that this is beneficial/ helpful to their congestion and mucous membranes...,,,,preventing them from drying out
How long was your cat sick for? I have a 9 week old kitten who has been sick for 4 days. She has a stuffy nose and runny eyes and has serious trouble breathing today. Trying to avoid a vet visit, but I don’t think I can put it off much longer
Good trick! Thanks!!! how many days are they contagious after the symptoms disapear please? i have another cat a t home so the sick one is in a room and i'm hurry to let him get out... 🙏
Hi! I wanted to show a few simple ways to care for a cat suffering from an upper respiratory infection aka "kitty cold". There's lots of other techniques I'll show in later videos. What are some cat health issues you are having?
Kitten School Hi! my cat has a pretty bad URI right now and we can't give him any medicine because he is going to have his heart tested in two weeks. Is the saline safe for him? I have three of my cats that have it right now and only one is antibiotics. I would just like to help them breathe a little better. I think the steam showers are helping but not enough. Thanks!
DISCLAIMER: I am not a vet. However, I believe that the plain saline should be fine to use on your kitty for his stuffy nose. Just be sure to go slow - especially if he has heart issues - so as not to stress him too much during the process. Steam showers are good, but the saline helps a lot and can get them to sneeze, which forces out any clogged passages. You can safely use saline drops a few times a day. They hate it when the drops are being put in but it seems to help them in the long run. Good luck to you and your kitty!!!
Hi, thanks for your great videos! Question: I know of rescues & vets using a nebulizer and have seen DYI nebulizer chambers made using a clear plastic tub or a carrier with towels covering most of the openings. Do you ever nebulize your cats with URI?
I also used a nasal aspiration to suction out excess mucus, it works well. I. Remove excess mucus around the nose, and then apply a thin layer of baseline prior to the suctioning.
I recently adopted a 9mo old kitty female from a kill shelter n she's been sneezing a day after I brought her home..she hasn't eaten for a few days now but after listening to you I'm going to try what you say to do. I'll let you know how she turns out. Thank you for your advice.
I just took my cat to the vet hospital here because he had a high temp and lethargic. I know he was miserable. I was told he probably had a virus and yet was prescribed antibiotics. I'm giving them to him and he is slowly working it out I think. Thanks for the video ideas.
@@KittenSchool I gave him L'lysine and he's so much better now. My other cats have it now, I'm giving them L'lysine and Elderberry concentrate so it isn't as serious and they are getting better. I'm unhappy about the $400 it cost me at the Vet's when they did nothing, but so happy that I found out this information. Thank you for asking.
We APPRECIATE IT! Because, everything on the internet says take your cat to the Vet; and a visit would put us in the homeless shelter costing $1500 for a complete panel to diagnose and more on top for treatment: little mounts of 'how to' add up to 'know how' and we're gratefullll...
Hi Noel, you are welcome! I appreciate your comment because one of the things I try to do through my videos is help people (when possible) to treat their cats at home. I know how prohibitive vet visits can be from experience, and I also know that many people simply cannot afford a vet. And many of my viewers live in places where there are no vets at all! So I am glad that my advice can help. How is your kitty doing now?
doxycycline made one of my cats so ill she wouldn't eat. i had to force feed her each time I gave her a dose to protect her stomach. She had Hemobartonella and had high fever but the doxycyline made her worse in that it messed up her stomach so bad she wouldn't eat. She eventually got better.
Another suggestion is to try an all natural cat vitamin. Balanced Breed is a great company. They make all natural vitamins for cats and they contain good ingredients (not extra fillers) with lysine included. Lysine is great for cat cold prevention and help!! Highly recommend. Let me know if you try it
My 18yo cat is susceptible to URI... I've found l-Lysine is helpful for him when he gets these every other year. Now if I could just cure arthritis.... his little bag legs don't work so good anymore.... he must be in some pain. Breaks my heart.
darn I wish I had seen your tip about the q-tip for administering nose drops! I wasted so much of the nasal drops trying to get it in our kittens nose!
This was very informative. I am a new cat mom for a 2yr old female cat and when I adopted her she was slightly sneezing but they said it was a small cold nothing big. So I will try all this (:
Hi Jez! Hope this helps your kitty. If you just adopted her it's likely this is a standard "kitty cold" that almost all cats will catch in shelters. The good news is that the cats will usually get over it (with proper care) and not come down with it again. Make sure she's drinking enough water in the meantime, even mixing some tuna juice into a saucer with water to encourage her. Hope she is feeling better soon!
Hey Richard, I am so glad this video was helpful! I am currently fostering four very sick kittens and the saline is helping them so much. Do it as much as you think the kitties need, you can't "overdose" on saline. Hope your kitty feels better soon!
Beware FIP: On February 9th, 2017, our 2-1/2 year old male cat, who was a stray found running loose in the road as a small kitten, died from a disease that's similar to FIV, but not exactly the same. I never heard of this before. He lost weight. A couple months later his behavior changed and he stopped eating. It took three trips to the vet, three different veterinarians examining him, over $600 in lab work, before we hit on the problem. Stray kittens in animal shelters and those found running loose outside and taken in are usually tested for FIV, but not FIP. It's a separate test and can be expensive. Our cat had tested negative for FIV as a kitten and again when he got sick. It was a devastating loss as he was a very special cat. You can google "FIP in Cats" for more information. It's another disease that's out there in the stray cat population and probably passed along to kittens from the mother. It does not show any outward symptoms for a couple years and is always fatal. We thought we had a perfectly healthy cat. Such was not the case.
I knew someone whose beautiful Maine Coon mix died from FIP. It was a horrible disease and they did everything they could, but sadly it is almost always fatal. Fortunately FOR NOW the disease is pretty rare, although there can be isolated outbreaks. Thanks for the comment and I am sure it will be helpful for others who want to know more about cat health.
Thanks my cat stayed at the vet two nights. Bear has a real bad cold noise stopup real. I will tomorrow get some of that s. To put in his noise . Thanks slot. 💖🐈🐈
Hi, I have a cat who I brought home that I really have any history of, but last week she became very lethargic, wouldn't eat, and was coughing and making a lot of that racket, and the vet said URTI, and gave her an antibiotic shot, as well as tested her for feline leukemia, which was negative. This was almost 5 days ago, and since I got her home, have had her isolated in the front bedroom, because I have another cat I didn't want sick too. He has been very unhappy he can't see her, and she is much better, eating , drinking, using the litter box, and I was wondering if I should continue to keep them apart, since she is only occasionally coughing. She never did show signs of her eyes or nose being affected, I saw no discharge or anything. Thank you.
my cat, Patches. she is a very small calico. she has had a super runny nose with tons of snot for a while now. we thought it was just a cold but now sense she’s had it for so long i’m starting to get worried. but tomorrow i’m going to try this. thanks!
I treated an adult feral who had a terrible upper respiratory infection. His eyes were gunky and crusty and nearly closed. I put colloidal silver, about a half dropper full, and mixed with wet food, over a period of weeks. Eventually his eyes cleared up, and the CS also helped heal several patches of his skin where fur had fallen out. That was all I used, no antibiotics, no prescriptions, just colloidal silver.
Hello Ellen, and thank you for the comment! I have heard so much about colloidal silver and am intending to look more in to it as a solution for kitty infections. My neighbor makes her own CS water and has offered to give me some. Thank you for watching and for your suggestion!
@@KittenSchool I have made my own CS but it is not as strong as what I now order. A good brand is Silver Wings and you can order it from Vitacost.com or buy at a local health food store. I really prefer natural remedies as there are rarely any adverse effects. BTW, your videos are very helpful. I am trying to tame an adult feral cat, and have brought her in and using your tips. So far after two days she at least can use a litter box and she is eating well. She hides in a closed off room, but that is OK for now.
I wish my vet had shown me this when I had my sick cat. I’m here now because a relative’s cat is sick And it will help so much. Their vet didn’t give any of this type of advice either.
I never understand why (some) vets don't give this kind of safe, basic, and easy to do advice for sick cats. I hope that your sick kitty is feeling better today! Thank you for the comment.
I have four cats that were outside and they got colds. Poor babies. So I’m trying chicken broth and I giving them tuna. I feel awful they got sick. I’m never going to let them hang out outside if it’s chilly again. I have antibiotics and the house is very warm. Another thing I don’t think some people will think about is buying good cat litter. Keeping those paws clean. If they get bacteria in the eyes that’s not good for them. Seems obvious but I thought I’d bring that up too. Lol
Dear Kitten School, I have a feral cat named White Feather that lives in my back yard. He is well fed and watered. Also he has a cat house that is warm and dry with a heated pad. He is well cared for but gets a pretty chronically runny nose throughout the year. Because he is feral, he is hard to get close to, so taking him to the vet would be daunting to say the least. Anything you can suggest would be appreciated!!
One of our babies has congestion in nose and we are turning on shower for little moist warm air while using warm water clothes on her eyes and nose. Hope she is over her cold soon😢
Hi Lucy, how is your kitty doing now? Check out this video where I show you how to make a mini "steam room" out of a cat carrier. It's the best thing for stuffy noses! is.gd/9mr2OA
@@KittenSchoolBabie is doing much better. She’s been antibiotics for 4 or 5 days. Suggestions here have been helpful! Thank you. I ferminate her while she gets steam and she thinks she’s at. a kitty spa😊
I am currently feeding about 20 stray cats that are now sneezing alot And after searching RUclips I am currently using apple cider vinegar in there food and a few drops in there water, it's been 5 days now and I only heard one cat sneeze when feeding last night. So now I am going to clean the porch again and the bedding they sleep on. Now you can't use to much at once because they won't eat it so a little goes a long way for cats and dogs.
My Siamese cat, my love of my life, recently got cat flu after major dental surgery, I feel so depressed seeing her this way, how long is the duration before they overcome this it's been 4 days now and I going out of my mind seeing her this way
Hello, my Persian cat seems to have a persistent cold that just won't go away. We have been to the vet numerous times and are now on the 3rd round of antibiotics to no avail. She has a great appetite and grooms, so I know she's still able to smell and doesn't feel terrible. I use a few drops of eucalyptus in our diffuser in the room she likes as it's supposed to help breathing. She's a Persian so gets eye and nose wipes multiple times daily, I don't know if her cold is a result of the flat nose or what else I can do to get rid of the bacteria. Any advice?
i am going through this right now with a kitten that is around 2 months old that i adopted yesterday. and she has been spayed around 1 week ago. but she has a upper respiratory infection the vet said she prob would and if she didnt get feeling better in 2 to 4 days to bring her back in. she was doing great last night but this morning when i went to get her out of the bathroom were she was placed to have safety from my other 4 month old kitten. she was not feeling well she has runny eyes. runny nose. just a mess. and my other cat will not stop bullying her. so fingers crossed.
My old girl gets bad allergies, when she is really congested sometimes I will run a hot shower and let the bathroom fill with steam. Then I just sit in there with her for a bit. She's not fond of this but it does seem to help. Sometimes I will run a humidifier too with a tiny bit of peppermint oil since I know it helps my breathing.

Are the two viruses zoonotic?
My cat has the worst sinus issues. When we adopted him from the humane society they said he’d been there 2 years bc nobody wanted a sneezing and wheezing cat. But he’s just the sweetest baby I’ve ever had. He lays in my arms like a baby every night. Prob is, nothing works for him that the vet has given him. I started using a humidifier with eucalyptus and that gives him more comfort. I’m going to get some saline and try that. He hates his face touched so good luck to me in this one. Thanks so much for the video!
I love how kindly you treat the cat. Great advice from someone who obviously cares for the cats in their care! I love to see it. :)
i realize I'm kind of randomly asking but do anybody know of a good website to stream new movies online?
@Steven Alexzander i would suggest Flixzone. You can find it by googling =)
Man ! Buster is a SAINT .......even my sweetest boy Mitchell wouldn't have stood for q- tip up the nose !
She DID NOT insert the Q-Tip, only squeezed a drop from the end.
You can hear the sweet baby purring throughout this whole ordeal. I'm sure Oscar is very happy at his furever home 🥰
His not purring . He is having trouble breathing. That’s why I’m here for my cat :(
Hey, thanks for making this video.
Thank you ~ 1st time cat owner ❤️😺🐾
Hi Terri and welcome to the wonderful world of cat ownership! you will LOVE it here. Please reach out if you have any questions about your new kitty!
I peeked @ your video😉 that kitten is super cute 🎆🌷
Buster is such a handsome cat. I hope he is happy in a good home!
Thank you for helping me become a better cat mom. I appreciate you and your channel so much! ❤️
Awww... thank you for such a sweet comment! I am so happy you're enjoying and learning from the videos. xoxox Caroline
Excellent video. Much love to you for your love and dedication to our little friends.
Thankyou.
Robin Murray try ACVinegar in his drinking water every day of his life 1 cap per quart to start
@Robin Murray mine has 3 cats, 2 died because of sick like this one and they dont even reach 1 year old yet :(
This is a super video. Thank you so much for giving me some comfort about my cat's cold.
My cats been sniffling all night, watched this and gave him a nice wipe and groom session
Firstly I would just like to thank you for that amazing information and your method of delivering the information is amazing.
How about a honey n the shop market i dont know if it’s natural it is good ?
I will try the lactose free milk and honey with my cat. Thanks!
Thank you so much.. Really need this in this very moment❤bless you more angel.. love and light from the Philippines ❤❤❤
Thanks so much, i will try it as One of my 15 Cats "the Youngest One" is having severe cold as well.
**Caroline
This is so so helpful! Thank you! I wasn’t sure how to do the saline!
Thanks for your sharing of this video which is informative and helpful.
Thank you for sharing. We always keep a lot of abandoned kitties from the road but the weather is not nice in our place so they get a cold easily and sad thing is there's no vet available in my hometown cause it's in a rural province. This has given me tips and for my mom to better take care of them.
Hi Shalimar! I am so glad these tips are helping you care for the kittens you are saving. You and your mom have a very big heart! Love, Caroline
Thank you for this. Very helpful. I'm not one to run to a doctor for my own cold, so learning how to probably avoid a vet visit for my cats is quite useful.
Thank you for this! My 2 cats came down with colds suddenly and been trying to love on them. This helps a lot!
I liked that you are giving helpful information free thanks for your help
Thank you, this had been the best video so far that I have seen on this topic.
Hope my tips can gelp.also
THANKS! THESE TIPS HELPED ME ;0)
Cats cannot have vicks
@@b.patriotic82 No, can’t have Vicks but added a little to water should be OK.
Thanks alot!! I was searching for a advice for this issues but no one did gave me a good explanation!! Apprec
Thank you! My Theo looks just like Buster, a d so sweet as well. I also run my hot water in the shower for a few minutes to create steam in the bathroom to help clear his nose. I then feed him in there.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHOWING HOW TO DO THIS!!!❤❤🙏🙏
Thank you for this!
God bless you! yes the bottle is a hard thing to use. I will try the qtip, thanks so much!!
Thank you for the comment, and hope your kitty feels better soon! xoxo
You're so awesome with Buster. How's he doing? Still with you or did he get adopted?
Thank you so much for all of this knowledge...i have an old girl 19 yrs old she's had a stuffy nose trying to help her feel better.
Hello Ashley! I am so glad your kitty is feeling better. Appreciate the nice comment!
Thank you fo much for such informative video
Thank you for the information! We have a kitten from a shelter who is sick. I found this very helpful.
Thank You so much for the helpful advice. My kitty has a cold and I will try some of your home remedies.
Hope your kitty feels better very soon!!!
Thank you! My cat has that all the time... I don’t know what to do anymore the vet gave her antibiotics... good for a month then again
try getting your kitty some lysine treats for immune support!
This helped so much I just got a 6month old and he had a cold I’m still trying to get the cat to the vet today
Hi Rebecca, how is your kitten doing now?
Kitten School he is doing so much better he has gained weight and doing a lot better he’s such a happy kitty
Thank you so much😻This is going to help my poor sick baby for sure🐈
You might want to advise running a humidifier .....I read that this is beneficial/ helpful to their congestion and mucous membranes...,,,,preventing them from drying out
Right ! Or having kitty be in the bathroom when taking a hot shower can be helpful.
Thank you so much for the advice, I'm definitely going to try the saline q-tip trick!
You're so welcome! I hope that it helps. xoxox
Very interesting..thankyou for sharing
Thank you! Can I make my own saline solution? Which Rezapt? How much salt? Sea salt?
Thanks for the tips. My cat is totally miserable. I’ve never had a cat who’s gotten a cold before so this was a lot of help
How long was your cat sick for? I have a 9 week old kitten who has been sick for 4 days. She has a stuffy nose and runny eyes and has serious trouble breathing today. Trying to avoid a vet visit, but I don’t think I can put it off much longer
@@bcaffiene94 she was sick for a month but didn’t have much of a stuffy nose she just sneezed a lot and had a bit of a cough
Good trick! Thanks!!! how many days are they contagious after the symptoms disapear please? i have another cat a t home so the sick one is in a room and i'm hurry to let him get out... 🙏
Good information.
Very helpful, thank you!
@kat kin I have a female cat that does the same. But my male holds a grudge when I give him medicine. 🤧🤷♀️
Hi, thanks for your great videos! Question: I know of rescues & vets using a nebulizer and have seen DYI nebulizer chambers made using a clear plastic tub or a carrier with towels covering most of the openings. Do you ever nebulize your cats with URI?
this is the best home remedy ... I'm so worried about my cat sneezing.. i lost one due to CKD.. i don't want to lose another
My kitten has a cold right now, whenever I take a shower I'll move her in there so that she steam helps some of the congestion
I also used a nasal aspiration to suction out excess mucus, it works well. I. Remove excess mucus around the nose, and then apply a thin layer of baseline prior to the suctioning.
I have done this too! It works great for small kittens. Thanks for the comment!
How cute and meek your cat
Thank you so much! I love you and your videos💛💛💛
I recently adopted a 9mo old kitty female from a kill shelter n she's been sneezing a day after I brought her home..she hasn't eaten for a few days now but after listening to you I'm going to try what you say to do. I'll let you know how she turns out. Thank you for your advice.
poor dude. my tux boy had it just as bad where he was breathing like that for awhile, but lucky for him he was always still hungry.
Thank you so much 🙇🙇
I just took my cat to the vet hospital here because he had a high temp and lethargic. I know he was miserable. I was told he probably had a virus and yet was prescribed antibiotics. I'm giving them to him and he is slowly working it out I think. Thanks for the video ideas.
Hi Carole, how is your kitty doing now?
Cat Cosequin is good for arthritis, and found in most Walmarts
Thank You! Very informative!!
darn I wish I had seen your tip about the q-tip for administering nose drops!
Thx, my Mama being treated for a bad cold right now, thx for the tips 🙏🌈
Thank you so much! So much helpful information!!
Thanks for the comment and I am sure it will be helpful for others who want to know more about cat health.
g bridgman. So sorry for your loss :-(
Sorry about your friend's cat loss
Thanks my cat stayed at the vet two nights. Bear has a real bad cold noise stopup real. I will tomorrow get some of that s. To put in his noise . Thanks slot. 💖🐈🐈
Lovely video. You're so kind. Very helpful. How old is this cat and is he ok now(buster).? Best wishes from Adrian in Sheffield England 😀
Thank you.
Thank you
Awsome channel. Thanka for sharing these tips.
Thank you! Glad you liked the video. More coming soon! xoxox Caroline
my cat, Patches. she is a very small calico. she has had a super runny nose with tons of snot for a while now. we thought it was just a cold but now sense she’s had it for so long i’m starting to get worried. but tomorrow i’m going to try this. thanks!
Hi, hope the saline drops helped Patches! How is she doing?
My Siamese cat, my love of my life, recently got cat flu after major dental surgery, I feel so depressed seeing her this way, how long is the duration before they overcome this it's been 4 days now and I going out of my mind seeing her this way
How's your cat? Mines going through the same thing.
Any advice?
thank you so much ❤️
i am going through this right now with a kitten that is around 2 months old that i adopted yesterday. and she has been spayed around 1 week ago. but she has a upper respiratory infection the vet said she prob would and if she didnt get feeling better in 2 to 4 days to bring her back in. she was doing great last night but this morning when i went to get her out of the bathroom were she was placed to have safety from my other 4 month old kitten. she was not feeling well she has runny eyes. runny nose. just a mess. and my other cat will not stop bullying her. so fingers crossed.
