3:25 All drivers involved were fine, but 30 people in the stands were injured from debris getting through the fence, one was struck in the head and suffered a fractured skull and traumatic brain injury (NASCAR was sued and they settled with the family)
4:50 Davey Allison(Died in 1993(This crash was a year prior)): Suffered a broken Collarbone, Arm, and Wrist as well as a concussion. He suited up the very next week, bloodshot eyes and all to race a few laps to at least qualify for driver points towards the championship, and just to shift the car, they had to velcro his hand to the shifter
8:20 Ricky Craven(Retired in 2006): Suffered a concussion and 2 cracked vertebra in his back
15:55 Darrell Waltrip (Retired in 2000): Suffered a broken Leg and Arm and a Concussion
19:20 Austin Dillon: Only complaint was being very sore after this. A handful of fans were examined, some refused treatment, others got it at the care center at the track while one was taken to the hospital and was treated and released
20:05 Geoff Bodine (Retired in 2012): suffered a Concussion, burns, a fractured right cheek bone, fractured right wrist, fractured vertebra in the middle of his back, and fractured right ankle. And some fans were treated for burns and scrapes
everyone else was fine
Thank you so much for outlining everything so clearly and giving all the history and people involved in these races. Very sad to hear of all the terrible injuries on the drivers, but especially the injured audience in the first race like that. I truly hope that doesn't happen too often!
@@BessyQIn terms of major injuries, there hasn't been one of those since 2015(Unless you want to count outside the sport stuff, then there was one last year where a driver broke his leg skiing), where a driver by the name of Kyle Busch broke his right leg and left ankle and ended up missing half the season. And there hasn't been a death since 2001 where Dale Earnhardt(the fellow in my pfp) slammed the wall hard and ended up suffering a Basilar Skull Fracture and died instantly
Oh my goodness very scary and sad 😭 but I'm glad it didn't happen often

The 1 you were asking about with Mike Harmon was at Bristol, Tennessee. The car is in a museum in Talladega. It sits right next to Michael Waltrip's car that hit the same gate later in the video.

@@BessyQ Yes, I remember. but only ones at Talladega and one from Atlanta speedway, all of which were over 20 years ago. I use to go every year, but stopped going in 2001. New priorities. Thanks for asking!

@@BessyQ believe me, i almost lost control of my own car doing it, but im a pretty skilled driver so i let off the gas and went down a gear and let it coast, don't worry i was doing this on a drag strip so it was extra safe
