I've been playing TLOPO (The Legend of Pirates Online) remake of Disney's Pirates Online on and off since 2017. It satisfies my nostalgic longings. There's even a discord server for my guild, cool stuff
POTCO was a huge part of my childhood and maybe the first videogame that I really played. I will always have massive amount of nostalgia for it. I just wish I could go back and see my characters again, if only they weren't lost forever. At least Wizard 101 is still around which was also a big part of my childhood, got to play that again recently and check out all of the old stuff I did.
10:59 That was so sad seeing all those players gathered together in Port Royal to say their final goodbyes. I'm a long time WoW player but my heart really goes out to all the poor players who decided to go down with the ship. Really sorry to see that happen to a gaming community. I am glad to hear that it was revived in some form, though. I wonder how many players came back to play it.
@@mrwho6831Now there are over 300 active players on most of the time. Of course the player base is higher because everyone is not on at the same time. The game is still considered in beta mode. But it is free to everyone, completely free.
RuneScape has come back massively. It’s the second biggest mmo our there period. It’s bigger than it ever was because of RuneScape mobile, the full game cross platform on iPhone and iOS l.
Sure is! It's great to see that it has remained fairly large throughout the years, even prior to mobile being release. With an average of 25k players on RS3 and 50-60k on OSRS at peak times during the day (before mobile. It's even better to now see that those numbers have increased!
Lil 3BZ rs3 isn’t really much of a grind anymore and with Mobile it’s much much more tolerable. I play old school on my phone as a companion to other games. In between matches of halo 5, while I’m watching Netflix, so on. But there is a ton of stuff to do in both games now that are way more involved than they used to be. Check out the raids for old school or for rs3. And the bossing in rs3 has changed significantly. Not to mention all the amazing quests in rs3 and mini games in both games. Do all the grinding on your phone when you’re just sitting around or whatever.
@Hoàng Nguyên In beta and for a while after launched there was a subscription type of thing going on. I made my account during that time and I remember being upset I couldn't level up further.
I remember playing this game all the way through. I Remember how much time I poured into this game, and I loved every second of it. I even got the final weapon of the game, the Staff. You have no idea how many hours I poured into this game...I hated the subscription service though. but overall, I loved it.
Oh my god I saw this in my recommended and I almost cried. This was like the only good pirate game ever created and I miss it so much... thank god there’s a rewritten version
Dude I was pretty young when I played this and I remember getting off the bus every day from school running to my house just to play pirates online and it was like that for a long time and this brought back so much nostalgia
Pirates Online was truly an amazing experience. It was the first MMORPG I had ever played, and I honestly wish I could connect with the friends I made on there.
Toontown rewrittens goal has always been to get disney to reopen toontown but with disneys greed and neglect with all their mmos i dont see any of them returning. All these fans servers are trying to say to disney that theirs still a audience for these mmos.
There's a very slim chance it could come back. I emailed Jesse Schell (one of the head honchos behind the development of Toontown) a few months back and he said he's been in talks with Disney since Toontown shut down. As of recently, he's trying to acquire the rights to the game. Direct quote from the email: "The challenge is finding a business model that works, now that subscription games are unpopular."
I loved this as a kid. I remember there was a glitch in the game, where there was one specific enemy that no matter how many times you swung at him he would never die, instead he would inflate and deflate. Me and my friend loved that glitch
Man, I remember this game looking a lot better. At any rate, I remember a certain event happening in-game where a bunch of players had to defend the governor's house from skeletons (or something like that). It felt amazing to band together with other people and defend this one location together, especially as a kid. Really cemented how connected you can feel with strangers online. Also remember being super jealous of the people with nicer and bigger ships. At least Assassin's Creed 4 came along to let me scratch that pirate ship building itch.
Some of these games are still around thanks to fan released versions that are pretty much the exact same. Fusionfall remake is amazing and they’re releasing new content CONSTANTLY
I absolutely loved this game, it was something about the feeling of the sailing, seeming open and free and really giving that 'pirate' feel. Of course it's more glitchy than i remember and the graphics aren't as good as i remember, but at the time, the natural, real-time feeling of the combat was amazing to me coming from Runescape and other free mmos that had more turn-based or 'ush macro for ability' combat I was level 30 something, and despite all the chat restrictions i managed to meet some of my guild members on other sites and some stayed friends for a while. I played every day or every other day for a few years and was there the day it shut down. At one point i won a contest for free membership and a Jolly Roger flag i think i still have that has the name of the game on it. A lot of people spent a lot of time with this game, some of the still-existing third party forums really show how much it meant to some players. I was really excited hearing about the remake project and i still play it sometimes mostly for nostalgia, it'll never feel the same way it did when i was 13 or 14 or whatever
I feel the same way Robo, I remember putting hours of my life into this game and playing it on my father's laptop, this game helped introduce me to gaming and it was fun while it lasted
Y'all, The Legend of Pirates Online is still up and running, they released a new holiday update and it's a lot of fun. They added different types of grenades, lots of new legendary weapons, more cursed blades, and so much more! I realize that I sound like I'm sponsored but I'm not, I promise. I just love the game and the nostalgia it brings me, plus it's completely free to play! Overall it's awesome and you should start playing it. (And join the "Royal Black Guard" guild!)
4 years later and the fan game is still going strong. Ive seen some comments about server problems and the game being dead, none of which I encountered while playing myself. Please give these peopme some love they've brought back a very fun experience.
POTCO was amazing. I remember playing that, ToonTown, and Club Penguin with my brother together. It was amazing. When I heard that it closed down (I heard this in like 2017), I went searching for more info on it closing, and then I found TLOPO, it was so much like the original game, and even the graphics are the same, which is incredible and amazing that they were able to keep all the same mechanics and such and not make it seem like a new game.
RIP to our beloved childhood MMO's that shut down - Club Penguin - Toontown - Pirates of the Caribbean online - Star wars clone wars adventures - lego Universe - star wars galaxies - Monkey Quest - free realms - fusion fall - Marvel super hero squad online - and that random beanie baby online game
I remember first downloading this game on a cheap little PC when I was a young teen. I had never experience MMOS or multiplayer games so it was very new to me and I like the idea of guilds and PvP. I used to use my allowance to get subscription cards from CVS pharmacy. I got super addicted and spent so much time playing and still keep in contact with a few people all these years later. It’s insane how something like a game can leave such a lasting memory and relationship.
I really wish someone could get a hold of it and remaster it. The game had such huge potential and was absolutely fun to play. This could seriously be one hell of a game in todays age.
I played toontown, club penguin, wizard 101, and pirates. I also just started playing the remake again (The Legends of Pirates Online) which has everything free
Idk if im trippin but i have a faint memory of playing the original POTCO for the first time and whenever your ship got hit pieces of wood would break off and float in the ocean. Then it was removed for better perfomance or something.
Fusionfall was the mmo I played back in the day until it went down like half a decade ago, luckily some fans have gotten ahold of the old servers and have them up and running for people to play just like the old days (Fusionfall retro)
I remember this particularly renowned bug at a high level Navy Island where if you run into the corner of the gate, the entire island will be empty of NPCs. The friends I hung out with back in the day used it as a kind of clubhouse to chill and roleplay at. It was pretty gun!
I searched it up a couple weeks ago and saw that it was still possible to play and download so I’ve been binge playing it recently. The most popular server abassa usually has 100+ people during prime hours and there’s usually around 300+ people in the whole game. I played it back when it first came out and the nostalgia factor is amazing. I love it so much. Since this is a fan relaunch, there’s no ads and there’s no membership plan. Everything is free
@Rae Martin Music Haha sadly no, I was like 10-11 at the time and I think I named myself *TottallyRadKid* or something stupid like that xD I should also update my YT picture profile because it's been years but meh....
Yesterday I got to play the the legend of pirates online with the game owners and developers. Just me and the devs so I got to ask them a lot about the game and how they got it where they did. The dev team is incredible and dedicated, and if you really look at the game now and what’s coming with updates, it’s impressive.. Especially considering every dev I talked to that day was 20 or younger! That means they started this project when they were 13-14! If you are an old player or looking to play this game it’s way better than the original game and completely free! The team pays out of their own pockets. They are really interactive and receptive with the player base and their feedback and ideas.. if you haven’t yet, try the game out!
I’m only 13 but man this brings back so many memories. I remember you got 30 day membership free on the last month. Fighting and defeating el dorado. Doing the ravens cove quest that took forever and had tons of fun with friends!
Not el dorado but you know what I mean. Where everyone was at 20% of the time. I’m sad right now and I miss this so much. I miss kingshead and everything. I miss this so much
I can greatly recommend TLOPO. It needs more players. If everyone who watched this video played TLOPO, the number of players would be multiplied by around 890. It is completely free, unlike the original. If you do decide to play the game after reading this comment, keep an eye out for my character, Charles Swordspinner. He is a skinny tall white male with blonde hair who wears red and green. Ironically, the sword is my least favorite weapon in that game.
@@brady7235 This game is by the same niggas that made ARK....that is to say, "Early Access" means very little to those fans. Looking back on games I realize when I was a little kid that I didnt even how bad the graphics were, I used to think it looked so real but looking back I dont see how I ever thought that
Well I'm sure the graphic were fantastic for their time. Skyrim's graphics used to be really good too (Mods make it better). Same with the Final Fantasy games (I will argue that they're still breathtaking and ever improving). I also remember thinking that the old tomb raider games for I believe the PlayStation 2 (we still have it and I believe it's over 10 years old and still working) looked incredible. Nope. Not as good as I remember. Everything looks better in memory.
Bro, PotC was the first major game I remember playing. I remember hopping onto another guy’s ship until I got my own sloop. When Davy Jones invaded in those special events, it was awesome and terrifying at the same time. I was terrified of the ghost ships, not because they’re ghost ships, but because they could totally whoop my ass. I absolutely loved this game, and when I found out it had closed down years later, after wanting to play it again as I did as a child for the nostalgia, I was incredibly disappointed. This was my childhood. And it was gone.
There’s The Legend of Pirates Online running rn. It’s completely free an it’s got a decent amount of players! It’s even better than the original and it’s really good!

i remember people had the option to be a dwarf, but for some reason after awhile they took it away, they also kept clumping more and more things into being membership exclusive, to where you could've started out with a coat, and then suddenly you can't wear it anymore. i loved the glitches where you could go underneath the land, and the community was wonderful. sometimes i wonder how the people i once knew on there are doing now.

This game was my childhood, I remember coming home from school and sobbing bc I didn't expect the game to go down. Luckily my friends and I were also playing Free Realms at the time and were able to stay in contact, and we're still in contact to this day. To this day i am thankful for the memories that Disney Interactive allowed me to make on POTCO, even if I was extremely sad to see the game go.
I still remember back then when I was still playing this game, a girl game name Anne Sunwalker helped me a lot with leveling up and doing quest. Hope she finds my comment.
I think I played Pirates of the Caribbean Online on a Disney cruise in 2014. If this is what I think that was. I've always wondered what that game was and I think it may have been this. It was with the day care type place they had on the Disney Fantasy for preteens, I think called the Edge. They do activities for them and one of them was we went into one of the ones for younger kids after it closed and used the computers in there to play a team game where we were all pirates. All I remember is shooting other ships and the footage you used looks like it. I may be wrong, but if I'm not, Disney may still have this game, because I know when I played that game, whatever it was, it was in late 2014, a year after the game closed. Also, one thing I noted being incorrect in your video was you saying Pixie Hollow opened in 2011. I made my account on there in 2009, and the game had been around for a while then. There was a massive update in 2011 and that may be what you're thinking of, or maybe the TV movie Pixie Hollow games that released the same year. The game actually came out in September 2008. Just wanted to put that out there since it's not correct.
@@Ravenbones I know that the game shut down in 2013, but I was on a Disney cruise in 2014 (the one part of the story I know is how I remember it) and based off the footage from this video, I played a game that was at least very very very similar to it, and since it was a kind of secret thing they were doing, I think it may have been that they still had the game in their possession and they let us play it a year after it closed.
I remember my mom introducing me to that game when I little. I also remember my monster being depressed and my mom tried to help me get him to feel better but we couldn't so we made a new account.

I've been playing TLOPO (The Legend of Pirates Online) remake of Disney's Pirates Online on and off since 2017. It satisfies my nostalgic longings. There's even a discord server for my guild, cool stuff
I used to play this when i was 8, now it brings back memories
The Legend of Pirates Online is still a thing, guys

Yeah but there's just no one playing it really. Went on their a couple weeks ago and the most populated server had 16 people.

ServinItUp - depends on what sea your playing on Abassa has like 100+ people.
ServinItUp - the community is pretty big, you must have caught the game when the game came back online from an update...

It's even better to now see that those numbers have increased!
each to their own
was fletching in varrock west during this video, wondering why it wasnt mentioned at the start lol
Zan it hits close to 200k online now at peak times! Went over that for a little bit there
Those few weeks where I had unlimited access to the game were the happiest weeks of my life

@Hoàng Nguyên In beta and for a while after launched there was a subscription type of thing going on. I made my account during that time and I remember being upset I couldn't level up further.
@Hoàng Nguyên Thanks man I have been considering coming back for a few days now I might get back on for that.
@Hoàng Nguyên We know this. What is your point?
I remember playing this game all the way through. I Remember how much time I poured into this game, and I loved every second of it. I even got the final weapon of the game, the Staff.
You have no idea how many hours I poured into this game...I hated the subscription service though.
but overall, I loved it.

I forgot about pirates online... so many childhood afternoons spent greifing other players with my large frigit ship.
Pirates Online was truly an amazing experience. It was the first MMORPG I had ever played, and I honestly wish I could connect with the friends I made on there.
Pirates Online is still one of my favorite games ever
It is a shame what happened to these games. I'm really, really glad they got reloaded though by fans!
I actually can't believe habbo still works. I made my account when I was 10? It's been 14 years and it still works. Thanks for that nostalgia.
And it is better that Disney stays out of it
I loved this as a kid. I remember there was a glitch in the game, where there was one specific enemy that no matter how many times you swung at him he would never die, instead he would inflate and deflate. Me and my friend loved that glitch
Nothing was better than the port invasions in this game. So many people defending one area. It was really something amazing.
The Legend of Pirates Online is a remake of POTCO, and the devs have brought back the invasions and most of the original game's features.
My childhood
1- Toontown

Some of these games are still around thanks to fan released versions that are pretty much the exact same. Fusionfall remake is amazing and they’re releasing new content CONSTANTLY
How is WoD part of your childhood?
It was released not even five years ago.
Anyone remember super hero squad online?
It's crazy how I'm almost 25 now. I stopped playing the game when i reached max lvl and got best things you can get playing free
I absolutely loved this game, it was something about the feeling of the sailing, seeming open and free and really giving that 'pirate' feel. Of course it's more glitchy than i remember and the graphics aren't as good as i remember, but at the time, the natural, real-time feeling of the combat was amazing to me coming from Runescape and other free mmos that had more turn-based or 'ush macro for ability' combat
I was level 30 something, and despite all the chat restrictions i managed to meet some of my guild members on other sites and some stayed friends for a while.
Perhaps someone to play with can make it new again? Community is slowly growing

It amazes me that it’s a new game, they must have reused stuff right?

I remember first downloading this game on a cheap little PC when I was a young teen. I had never experience MMOS or multiplayer games so it was very new to me and I like the idea of guilds and PvP. I used to use my allowance to get subscription cards from CVS pharmacy. I got super addicted and spent so much time playing and still keep in contact with a few people all these years later. It’s insane how something like a game can leave such a lasting memory and relationship.
I really wish someone could get a hold of it and remaster it. The game had such huge potential and was absolutely fun to play. This could seriously be one hell of a game in todays age.

RIP this game I remember this being main thing in my child hood and what got me into pc gaming.
I used play this when I ever had free time.

Have you asked about the graphics? because I'm sure with how everything has improved over the years, better graphics would suit the game
Joe Debois honestly i feel like we can deal with some mid graphics while they work on the rest of the game for awhile. im just happy it exists
When games had love put into them.. the boat battles were amazing. Staff voodoo, and grenades.. plus a three shot pistol. It was crazy back then.
Dude, I used to play this game with my cousin all the time after school back in the day! So sad that it's gone.

It’s not memory. It’s how you are conditioned. The better graphics become, the worse older ones look.
Jolly Rogers, not Davy Jones.

It wasnt 2014 when you played it.
The game shut down in 2013.
