@@NinjaRafter I'm so grateful, this method of learning definitely meshes well with my learning style, can i ask what problems (if any) you came across that you think might be common for beginners

@@SophieWatson-vc6xu Yeah this channel is great, I found it last month and I listen to everything from A1 to B2 here and it's very helpful. In fact I'm going to subscribe to his ko-fi as thanks lol.
As for my opinion on problems, I'll tell you but keep in mind I'm still very far from my goals so take what I say with a grain of salt. But after abandoning the wrong things and changing my method, I was able to finally cover enough material where I no longer "study" now, I just acquire new words and grammar concepts from content I watch and read.
Most of all I regret all the time I wasted on slow methods that weren't really doing anything for me and how little of my time was spent listening to spoken Korean. I was never into Korean dramas or kpop variety content so I didn't have anything to listen to as part of my routine except for music, which is not enough. So here is what I would have done if I was starting now:
      1) Do not waste time on Duolingo or Talktomeinkorean's core grammar series. Duolingo might be decent at the start (I mean first month) but very quickly it becomes a waste of time and even a hindrance. Talktomeinkorean has great videos of just people talking and good explanations but the core grammar series is too slow, they take a 15-30 minute lesson to explain every concept and it's too long, especially if you have a job or are a student and you only have limited spare time to learn.
      2) Get textbooks with a listening and writing component so you have some exercises to do. I used these books and I liked them: www.twoponds.co.kr/en/active, you can find pdfs online and then have someone print them out and bind them for you or you can order them. The audio files are all available for free download on that site too. They don't have to be these textbooks, any textbook you find that you like is okay.
      3) Use flash cards on Anki (flash card software). The most popular Korean flash card decks are Evita's Grammar and Vocabulary decks. The grammar deck is gold (it was my most useful source of grammar info and easiest to remember, took me like 3 months to learn much more than I have in the previous two years), the vocabulary deck becomes a slog after you're 2-3 thousand words in because the words become complicated and you have no context for them. But until you hit that point it's a good tool for learning words. Here are the decks:
      ankiweb.net/shared/info/3614346923
      ankiweb.net/shared/info/4066961604
You can also create your own deck with words and explanations that you encounter.
      4) Keep doing what you're doing now. You will have a much easier, faster and more successful journey than me if you're looking for comprehensible listening input this early on. Keep listening to this channel, keep listening to dramas and later on listen to real conversations between Koreans, Talktomeinkorean has a lot of good videos of that, with english and korean subtitles. Also after a while try reading Korean news and maybe webtoons.
Finally, there are apps like Kakaotalk and Hellotalk where people talk to natives to practice their Korean, but I've never tried that. Some very good learners swear by them though. Maybe you can try that at a later stage.

@@NinjaRafter thank you for such an organised reply, this is so helpful! You've brought up a lot that I'll definitely be incorporating into my day to day learning. Thank you for the links , I'll check out the books and decks. I also found TTMIK to be a much in terms of pacing and info dumping,i do think their real life conversation videos will be helpful, I'll take your advice on that.
So far in terms of comprehensive input material i have the above playlist saved and will make my way through the others in order. I'll probably check out the apps a little later or when I've made some progress.
I also found a few podcast channels that give free pdf transcripts in hangul with the important word lists for each video, they're probably better for higher beginers to intermediate but still useful, and theres different topics to choose from , heres the link if you or anyone else is interested ruclips.net/p/PL98rs0yjuL6MyuO5hTwruQJsk1WQJHn10&si=VWQPR90bEjbaGPA_ .
Thank you again, i really appreciate it and good luck on your learning!!
