- 20th - 21st May 2023 saw the Dean Forest Railway host their annual Spring Steam Gala.
The theme of this years event was 'Panniers & Prairies', with guest loco GWR 1369 Class 'Pannier' 0-6-0PT, No.1369 (courtesy of the South Devon Railway) starring alongside resident Ex GWR 8750 Class 'Pannier' 0-6-0PT, No.9681(fresh from overhaul) and Ex GWR 4575 Class 'Prairie' 2-6-2T, No.5541 on an intensive timetable of passenger and goods services.
Filmed on Sunday 21st May, we is all locomotives in action working trains between Lydney Junction, Norchard, and Parkend.
**Please note some shots were taken from the lineside under the careful guidance of volunteers, from non-public location. I would like to say a massive thanks to all the staff and volunteers for this wonderful opportunity.**

Great gala - I went on Sunday and am looking forward to watching your video when I get a chance Callum. I managed a brake van ride as well. Cracking day out with a lovely atmosphere.

Brilliant work as always, my friend. Watch this last night before going to bed. The only thing I could hear was Great Western steam in my sleep, well for most of it haha. Could’ve done without the nightmare afterwards. But that was due to me watching FBI before bed. Weird as all hell the most recent episode of FBI, but was still good detective work though.
Is it starting to get hot over there as yet? It’s very chilly here as we head into steam train season - hashtag simply the best time hehe 😉.

I must say, The dean forest railway is certainly a distinctively fascinating destination through leafy forestry terrain, especially of ex-great western ritual within it's historical simplicity.
