If you have read or heard classic "deeper life" Christian authors and/or preachers, i.e. Watchman Nee, Andrew Murray, A.B. Simpson, Leonard Ravenhill, then you will quite likely find this sermon by A.W. Tozer very edifying. May you be blessed.
Hailing from a tiny farming community in western Pennsylvania, his conversion was as a teenager in Akron, Ohio. While on his way home from work at a tire company, he overheard a street preacher say: "If you don't know how to be saved... just call on God." Upon returning home, he climbed into the attic and heeded the preachers advice.
In 1919, five years after his conversion, and without formal theological training, Tozer accepted an offer to pastor his first church. This began 44 years of ministry, associated with the Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA), a Protestant evangelical denomination; 33 of those years were served as a pastor in a number of churches. His first pastorate was in a small storefront church in Nutter Fort, West Virginia. Tozer also served as pastor for 30 years at Southside Alliance Church, in Chicago (1928 to 1959), and the final years of his life were spent as pastor of Avenue Road Church, in Toronto, Canada. In observing contemporary Christian living, he felt that the church was on a dangerous course toward compromising with "worldly" concerns.
In 1950, Tozer received an honorary Doctor of Letters degree from Wheaton College. It was May 1950, when Tozer was elected editor of the Alliance Weekly magazine, now called, Alliance Life, the official publication of the C&MA. From his first editorial, dated June 3, 1950, he wrote, "It will cost something to walk slow in the parade of the ages, while excited men of time rush about confusing motion with progress. But it will pay in the long run and the true Christian is not much interested in anything short of that." In 1952, he received an LL.D. degree from Houghton College.
Among the more than 40 books that he authored, at least two are regarded as Christian classics: The Pursuit of God and The Knowledge of the Holy. His books impress on the reader the possibility and necessity for a deeper relationship with God.
Living a simple and non-materialistic lifestyle, he and his wife, Ada Cecelia Pfautz, never owned a car, preferring bus and train travel. Even after becoming a well-known Christian author, Tozer signed away much of his royalties to those who were in need.
Tozer had seven children, six boys and one girl. He was buried in Ellet Cemetery, Akron, Ohio, with a simple epitaph marking his grave: "A. W. Tozer - A Man of God."
Prayer was of vital personal importance for Tozer. "His preaching as well as his writings were but extensions of his prayer life," comments his biographer, James L. Snyder, in the book, In Pursuit of God: The Life Of A.W. Tozer. "He had the ability to make his listeners face themselves in the light of what God was saying to them," writes Snyder

Tonight, as I read "Crazy Love" by Francis Chan, there was a quote from Tozer at the start of chapter 6. The quote resonated with me so deeply, that I read it four times over. I The felt guided by the spirit to stop reading and research Tozer online, only to stumble across this message. After a few minutes I was dissolved into the sermon and felt the Holy Spirits warmth and love wrapping around my soul. The relevance of Dr. Tozers sermon in today's world is astounding! How troubling to think how modern churches have neglected these forms of teachings. I now have a playlist of sermons to listen to and am confident they will continue to strengthen my walk with Christ. Thank you dearly for posting, you are truely doing the Lord's work in reaching others for Christ!

Wow… If you don’t love, you can’t grieve… Such an eye-opening sermon about the Holy Spirit! I’ve spent most of my life among people who undermine the power and the character of the Holy Spirit, this has been such a blessing to me! I am now turning to find more about who God is through the persons of the Trinity. 💜

I once was shut down in front of an entire congregation as a special guest speaker was speaking about Muslims having dreams and Jesus Christ appearing to them in their dreams showing them who God really is in Him. I asked this speaker if the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit were all ONE? This speaker got angry with me and said: "The Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ are not one and the same!" I was so humiliated by this and now I am hearing A.W Tozer here saying the three are ONE! I believe A.W Tozer! :) Much Love In Christ, Alan Sweet

Thank you so much for uploading this. I'm a college student studying Fine Arts, and there's nothing more refreshing than listening to something that glorifies God, (Tozer's one of my favorites) while doing late night plates :) My ultimate favorite of Tozer's is his writings on God's attributes. Knowing more about the Creator and Savior is truly a heavenly experience.

Was praying and fasting intermittently not so long ago for about a year - petitioning my Lord to break down those walls of hard hardiness so i may be able to give and receive love like my ol'pastor who went home back in the 90's - doing what i knew about giving and receiving forgiveness, then i heard Tozer's series on the Holy Spirit and it has broken down those walls - literally changed my life, blessings man.
The Church today needs men like this!!!
At 19 I was baptised in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost. Now 55 years later I wish I have heard such a clear description of the Holy Spirit earlier. And with such humour, as you can ignore Him and He will sleep quietly behind the boat. And with such clarity as the mother will grieve because she loves her son and can only feel sympathy for the boy she does not know. This sermon was preached at Avenue Road Church in Toronto and it grieves me and more so the Holy Spirit to find out that the church building has now become a Hare Krishna Temple. Nevertheless, may the Holy Spirit encourage the hearts of all who hear this sermon. AMEN

I'd swap twenty of the ignorant feather merchants on TBN for ''ONE'' A.W. TOZER.....This mans spirit enabled ministry has continued on way past his death. I have gained much from TOZER's writings throughout the years...What a breath of fresh air, devoid of the sensationalism and tripe that disguises itself as Christian doctrine...Can't wait to meet this guy in heaven........
This makes the author come alive to me. Am reading The Pursuit of God. Now I know what others say about him is true. A man who pursued God with his whole heart.

I would like to know why true men of God, true ministers, can't be on the TV. Religious channels all over the place, they seem to be sincere but they do not show the wisdom of Gods Holy Spirit. I hope men like W A Tozer is always available.

19/10/2021 - Incredible teaching. It si so true, and so sad. 😢 I have been to four churches in my City, and I feel None have the presence of the HOLY SPITIT in them. They read a passage out of the Bible, and then chat about something so trivial, it has nothing to do with JESUS or the Word they just read. It's always about other people and their experiences. Very sad. I listen to RUclips Sermons and teachings by Pastors that have a Passion, Love, Respect and Fear for our LORD JESUS CHRIST and the WORD of GOD, and know the Urgency of having to warn us of what awaits us if we fail to have GOD as our EVERYTHING in life. Thank you to all those awesome Men of GOD. XX

This man I believe
, helps simply and powerfully define the attributes the the Holy Spirit as I know him to be the Spirit of God and Christ; The unnecessary focus on whether he is a person or not I do not understand. The definitions I find of a person generally require humanity, matter, and a body . That being said this man, I believe speaks and edifies by the Holy Spirit of God.
I love it he is a great man of God.

It's amazing to know how he's the same in the books and in the audios, you can really see the consistency in his faith and convictions. Ahhh real spiritual food for a starving soul. Nothing is sadder than to attend your local church and come out starving for truth , and to not be fed the truth because they are tickling the ears of the masses just to appease. So wonderfully glad that God led me to this , I so needed to hear what I've been thinking to myself. Bless you all that are real bible believers and love our true God, Jesus, and the holy spirit.

Leanord Ravenhill mentioned him a lot so that's why I'm interested in his preaching. As Ravenhill said he was as emotional as a tooth pick, however in spite of that I find him to be a powerful and convicting preacher.

The Holy Spirit of God is extremely real, if you are not led by Him then you are led by your flesh. And when you are led by your own flesh Jesus will not know you.

I have been following the works of A.W.Tozer for a long time. I heard this sermon for the first time today. At the 23:20 mark he says he is a Catholic. That through for a loop. In his sermons and books he teaches/preaches real biblical things. He preaches/teaches some things that go directly against what the Catholics are taught to believe. He has spoken out against Catholic teachings on the "virgin" Mary, against Catholic "saints" etc. I tried researching online about his Catholic beliefs but this one part of this specific sermon is the ONLY place I could find anything connecting him, in any way, to Catholicism.
He did not state he is Catholic in this sermon, he also stated that he is not a Traditionalist but bases his beliefs on Scripture like you have stated
Real people listen real words that only the Spirit of God would listen through our hears
