You could listen the trap working or stopping.

Use the right analog stick and you can peek into the room and see the traps and when they stop. Plus it makes a loud noise when it’s complete

I wasn't about to experiment with it to find out whether leaving early before the traps finished would complete the sequence...getting the trick to work required some fairly precise timing, but it was much easier than completing that puzzle. This "workaround" does work on patch 1.0.3 (verified on Nintendo Switch version).
Why is the most worthless shit in this game locked behind the most annoying challenges.
It makes perfect sense, you can not put crucial stuff behind a chall only a few will finish. They could have give a way better skin tho.

I wish I had seen this earlier. It took me an hour and a half to complete the trap room. It gave me a skin but took my sanity away. Well, a meager price to pay for a skin.

I got so frustrated with doing this puzzle the right way that I decided to try to cheese it. Then I got so frustrated with failing to cheese it that I just decided to do it the right way.

Took me five tries today on the Switch version (1.4.2) to successfully do this. I recommend having headphones so you can hear when the upper gate opens. That's the cue to leave the room, re-enter, jump up and get the Lililac costume.

Still works on latest version as of June 16th 2024. The best way I’ve found to go about this is to get to the third swinging poll, press L1/LB and X/A at the same time to jump into the room and place a shadow simultaneously, and just spam press L1/LB as fast as you can while you’re going in.

For the moonwalk, you have to move slowly (that is walking) and then move the stick to the opposite side (always in the walking position and stop it there), it's a bit hard to do but I moonwalked :D It takes patience to reach the walking position from left to right or viceversa
When I place my clone and go up the clone disappears.
whole gameplay is awesome in this POP skipping any puzzle is like robbing yourself from fun
The trick is to leave a shadow right before you enter the room, the shadow you leave on the pole is destroyed the moment you enter

@Bobberg90 It takes a few tries but you just need to be precise, aim to leave a shadow at the exact same moment you jump off the pole, not while you're still on the pole
This happened to me on accident last night on PS5. After couple failed attempts the trap door just remained opened and the puzzle was going on. So I waited till it ended on the stick. Went in and got my reward
That is so lame though. Does it not feel good to complete a challenge?

@@DannyHawk19 The reward is mainly the dopamine rush you get from beating it. The outfit sucks, I think that puzzle should have had 4 soma tree petals as a reward (aka a life bar increase).
@@infinitedeath1384 nah I get it trust me…I have had hit many rough patches in this game…too many restarts to count. Excellent game though with the exploration and all but it’s tough as nails in some places with the platforming. Rescuing that damn parrot was tough!😂
I did that the vanilla way, and I was so upset with the reward. The challenges under the goddess that upgrades your weapons, are even harder than this.
Still works in PS5 24/03, press L1+X (both at the same time) and inmediatly L1, just keep triying and you will do it!

Still working on PS5 as of 22 Dec 2024 (once ps5 is switched to 60hz/ turn off 120hz) I found that if you let go of the pole at an angle slightly, and immediately hit your shadow, then go back to your shadow it works immediately. If you're getting a weird audio glitch after, just use the shadow thing again and it goes away. Make sure to wait until the puzzle finishes fully, it takes about 2 mins
You're a genius! I've read how everyone does it, and I've tried it myself in various ways. As a result, after 40 attempts, I despaired, but your comment about limiting the frame rate did the magic on the third attempt. (Relevant for the steam version). Thanks!!

Upd. Switch 1.0.3 version. It works. Thank you. Tried couple of times. Suggestion - please check for closed door after teleporting back. For the first time - I successfully teleported back . But due to the not closed door cheese wasn’t working.
There is no point in casting the first shadow when you are still on that pole. In fact it makes it more difficult. Its much easier to only cast a shadow immediately when you jump from the pole. The first shadow will despawn anyway as soon as you cross the entrance to the upper room.

In this flawless game, the biggest disappointment was the skin reward for beating this room.

Thanks for this video. I needed that skin for 100% completion but really did not want to do that room. Now I will have everything on my first playthrough and can just ignore it on replays.
This still works, at least as of today, 2/29/24. The door closes really fast so you almost have to jump up and teleport back down simultaneously but it's doable. Thanks for this, I was going on about 20 mins of trying over and over lol.

I must've gone at this puzzle 40-50 times before finally throwing in the towel, especially when I found out that the reward was a lame skin that really doesn't have much impact. This trick did the job...your timing has to be impeccable though. I must've tried the trick almost a dozen times before it finally worked. It DOES work on the latest patch as of this post, v1.0.3 on Switch. Thanks for posting this shortcut...I would've gone insane attempting that puzzle another 50 times!!
I just did it as of November 5th 2024, patch version 1.004.001.
It takes some time because you have to be quick enough that you can get back down before the trap door closes and locks you in the room but not so quick that you fail to trigger the door to close. First time I thought I had it the door hadn't actually closed and I had to do it again. Took me probably around 20-30 tries but it can be done.
you can do this without the shadow - jump slightly up into room and land back down. then you keep swinging round and round while all the movements happen on top of you, and then jump up to collect at the end. did this by mistake :)

For anyone still trying hard, I just turned off 120 hz in PS settings and work with the first try.

Worked for me 21st Feb on 1.04 on PS5. I have issues with timing in games and this game has been a challenge. When i saw what was required towards the end of this puzzle i knew it was too much for me. Thanks for this! All thats left is the Impossible Climb X
I'll try this method. This room, the climbing one that Hermit challenges you and another one with 2 Darius coins with those red signs and boulders are the 3 rooms left for me to complete the game
To ease your pain. I just tried this method and it does work. I'm playing on the recent version of the game. But be warned, it does take a while to get the strategy down. It seems that the shadow disappears as soon as you tap the jump button on your remote. But what I think worked for me was to quickly tap twice on the shadow button immediately as you tap on the jump button. This allowed me to recreate the shadow in the air as well as reset to it. I think that's why it took me forever to get it to work. I even attempted the puzzle a few times cause I thought it didn't work anymore.
Took me a lil bit but i got finally it. As ridiculously challenging as this game is, any cheat is warranted. Thank you for this 🙏🏾
So I am not sure what I did during my first run, but the door was actually open, so I simply stayed below during the entire puzzle, and just jumped up when it was finished. Honestly, I actually felt better when I completed the puzzle in a second run. I think that's one of the best things about this game: the feeling of satisfaction after completing a difficult boss or platforming puzzle. Cheers to this amazing game!

For those trying it still works at least on Switch as of version 1.1.1. It takes a few tries but it works.
As of today September 24, 2025, trick still works, (Switch version). Best advice is to pause this video and follow the comment portion. Worked like a charm on the first try.

This still works as of March 2, 2024 with version 1.0.5 on Nintendo Switch. The trick for me was to make continuous jumps from ground level to each pole along the way, including the last one before entering the room. Stopping and spinning for a while on the top pole and then trying to time the jump/shadow/return didn't work. But going steadily from pole to pole all the way, and then timing the shadow/return right after the last jump worked. I have also had the door glitch after getting hit by the spikes but it never dawned on me to circle below.
So glad I've watched this. Now that i now that the price is completely worthless I won't waste any time on the stupid puzzle. Thanks!

Yeah I tried it too and doesn’t work on ps5. Clone disappears the instant you’re in that room. Has nothing to do with the trap door anymore.

X, L1, L1 as fast as you can, and that shit finally worked. Every time I would die in the room I would try again. And like the 10th or 12th time it finally worked. I'm glad too, that room is too dam hard for a new set of clothes 🤣

For people who are watching this video it still works. It's a bit difficult to do the glicth. You almost have to press the jump button and the teleport button at the same time. What I did was to spam the teleport button. You have to be teleporting before entering the room, because as soon as you get in your shadow disappears
I did it legit before finding this, but if I knew all I was going to get was a pair of pants after that slog, I would definitely have done this.
This WORKS! They haven't patched it (as of Jan 29 2024...). The trick is to jump up into the room then IMMEDIATELY repeatedly tap LT (or whatever button to make the shadow, I'm on xbox) as fast as you can. It will take several tries but it will work eventually. They just stay spinning on the pole for about 2 mins until the room shakes, indicating the traps have finished. Then leave the room & come back & the grill will be open and you can go up and claim your shitty prize

I accidentally came across this too. The door actually stayed open for me tho so it was tougher to do the puzzle with a hole in the ground. A blade locked me thru it and caught the pole and I could see them still running so I just waited it out

After I tried this puzzle maybe 4 or 5 times the trap door at the bottom stopped closing altogether. I tried to do it a couple of times with the door open before I realized I could just drop down and wait it out.
I had only gotten maybe 30 seconds or so into though so I had no idea it was going to last that long. But I did hear the door open eventually.

Thanks for making this, I don't recall what version of the game I played but I found if I died enough times, the door to enter stopped closing if I didn't actually land in the room. I just waited for it to finish and got the stupid slight color hue change. I love this game and this room isn't even hard- it just tests your patience. It sucks

Still working as of today(31st Jan '24. Not sure of exact patch, but it's UB+ so would assume as current as it gets), timing is very tight on using return to shadow - if you're a little late the teleport simply fails and you stay in the trap room.
And yeeah, bit OTT for an appearance >.> .

Oh thank fuck. I've been using a walkthrough video of the puzzle (been watching the next 2 moves, doing them, opening the menu to pause the game, continue the video, etc, etc) for probably a total of 5hrs to do this. I managed to do the impossible climb sidequest and memorise the entire sequence of this puzzle but never actually beat it. My controllers have joycon drift so I could not get past the very last part.

Seems to be working as of patch 1.03 on PlayStation. It's tricky to trigger it correctly. Some ppl are saying to not leave a clone and just double tap the clone button once you swing off the pole.

Still works on switch (ver. 1.0.4) if you have just use a turbo Funktion on a controller with L1, then jump and press turbo L1 at the same time. Took me 25+ tries without turbo and only 2 with turbo
Thanks for this. I don't have a turbo controller, but this gave me the hint that mashing on the teleport might work. Watching the video I was never quite sure of the timing. Many times the shadow was partway through the grate, but then Sargon would bounce back up into the room. Mashing on L1 rapidly worked first try.
This still works as of 4/23/24 on PS5. I was struggling on a monitor with a higher refresh rate (I think the game can now run at 120 mhz), but once I switched to a lower refresh rate TV, I did it my first attempt.

For those who are playing on PC and for some reason are playing it at 144 fps, this error does not work at that fps level, lower it to at least 60 for that part only, I spent hours until I analyzed that detail and I did not understand why. the glich didn't work

Worked for me on PC. I tried like 40 times with uncapped FPS and failed, then I disabled V-Sync, caped FPS at 60 and it worked on the first try. Just spam jump+shade on the 3rd pole.
PS: Looking at full video of the challenge.. I got to the last wave legit. Dissapointing :D
Tried many times. My monitor is 170Hz, changed refresh to 60Hz in game settings and it worked on second try.

I used that door to save me the headache for this outfit. I managed to randomly glitch it without knowing how to actually do this lolol. I love the outfit and i tried so hard to do it legit. Eventually, gave up and used to door to my advantage.
Just did it on the newest update. You have to literally tap the jump button and teleport basically right after each other

This worked on the switch as of 12/26/2024 2:30pm - I waited 4 whole minutes and the trap sounds never stopped and there was no screen shaking so I just exited the room, came back and the trap sounds were still playing until I jumped all the way back up and then the doors opened on the spot and I was able to jump up to the treasure. Just something to remember for switch users trying to do it.

Apr 29 2024, still works on ps5. From the pole, jump up and immediately press L1 to create a shadow under the trap door, then press again to pull him back.
Just did this on patch 1.4.0 on ps5. I couldn't get it when I was playing at 120fps. I switched to 60fps and got it in a couple attempts.
Still works Feb. 9, 2025 PC though it took me many tries. Like someone else said, pause at 0:36 to read the comment that tells you how to do it. I had to do all of this in one go, never stopping on the way up just up, laid the clone, jumped up, teleported back to the clone all in one go super fast. The trap door doesn't open after it's done so you have to leave the screen to the left where the elevator is and then come back onto the screen and go up the poles and the trap doors will both be open and then just grab the stupid skin.
