that's kind of the whole point of the show, they aren't good for each other, that's why the ending scene was the way it was. They love each other as friends but recognize they both feed into each other's bad sides.

its the only thing i wish we got more of a glimpse at in the show - he has the usmc stuff in his office and he does some military training vaults in the outfield at some point but I wish we saw Gamby during wartime.

Actually Mcbride and Co. wanted it to be a movie but decided that a mini series would be a better format to tell the story which i thought was the best decision, I love that we got hours of these two instead of one 90 min feature
@@chuck8249 I've watched (and thoroughly enjoyed) both seasons through numerous times- I think it wrapped up perfectly (brilliantly done)- don't need another season to draw out anything else.

I like how the show kind of delves into Russel's childhood in a later episode when it was revealed that he was constantly bullied by his older sisters, which might partially explain why he has so much pent up anger throughout the series.
Of course Russel smokes Virginia Slims. lmao
