The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF; French: Forces armées canadiennes; FAC) is the unified military of Canada, comprising sea, land, and air elements referred to as the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN), Canadian Army, and Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF).
Personnel may belong to either the Regular Force or the Reserve Force, which has four sub-components: the Primary Reserve, Supplementary Reserve, Cadet Organizations Administration and Training Service, and the Canadian Rangers. Under the National Defense Act, the Canadian Armed Forces are an entity separate and distinct from the Department of National Defense (the federal government department responsible for administration and formation of defense policy), which also exists as the civilian support system for the Forces. Current authorized strength is 71,500 Regular Force members and 30,000 Reserve Force members.
The command-in-chief of the Canadian Forces is constitutionally vested in the monarch, Elizabeth II, who is represented by the governor general (or the administrator). The professional head of the organization is the chief of the Defense Staff, who under the direction of the minister of national defense and together with the assistance of the Armed Forces Council, manages the operations of the Canadian Armed Forces.

I'm a current serving CAF member.
To clarify, there is no maximum age to join. The only requirement is that applicants must be able to compete their initial service contract before compulsory retirement age. 34 is not the maximum.
Also, there is no option for permanent residents to apply. Only Canadian citizens can apply.
A little fact checking would have avoided this.
thank you for correcting that soup sandwich of an opening. those reserve numbers were miles off as well
Agree,my son is a bomber with 2 horse in Pet, UBIQUE
57 is maximum age. Few years ago there was a guy at 57 joining BMQ with his son. I think they were both reserve.
Remember when a biker gang beat Canada’s elite commandos. How is it with all the Kramer’s I heard you guys got it bad with sex offenders. Even with racists like Pattick Mathews I’m going into the CAF as well but I’m going to watch everyone else including our own. Too many enablers and conformity. Like CAF members thinking it’s okay to train PLA members in Petawawa. It’s no regular job it’s mostly responsibility. Ppl like this have no place and will be marked. Order through Chaos.
How often do you get to shoot and run drills? How often you have to listen to gay diversity presentations?
⚔️As a former 1960’s Cold War army member. I found Ur documentary, to be clearly defined, well executed, having hard hitting fact based brief concise and that, of our military’s more recent history, is gratifying, to me to finally get, what’s going on.🛡
Doc or something else !?!? 70's - 80's Cold War Vet. Naval DIV.
That's where the Russians(and now the Chinese too) can follow, or chase you around the world, and with faster ships, than you, to do it. But 'cheering' anyone for doing this... I don't recommend it since we are in the new Melting Glacier War period. with both and not so Cold anymore !!.....
@@Rhythm911 ⚔️ hi we’re U a former ( Royal) Canadian Navy Clearance Diver, from the west coast?🛡
Hello, I am with RCEME, and some of the equipment that was used in the 60s are still being in use as of today. Probably I have shot the same browning that you used in those days. PS: this video is garbage.
We need to double are numbers with a navy and more jets.
I'm proud to be the son of a CDN WW2/Korea Vet and father of 3 currently serving.👍
15.5 billion is peanuts 1% gdp those are rookie numbers gotta pump those numbers up.

We currently spend just under 1% of our GDP on our military…. We’re lacking behind
It's going to drop even further with our subhuman filth "Government".
Pretty good military for 1% though..... says the Australian ha ha. Our military in personnel numbers is so small.
:)))) Oh we have a behind, not lacking one, it's that its just not as big in comparison to most. We are lagging with many other aspects. And like I said above in my comment we have a laaarge reserve force for our Population.
@@Rhythm911 we do have one of the best trained militaries in the world but they could use some boost in defence spending….
Apparently Australia has just bumped up its military spending to 2.1% GDP.
With Love from Nigeria 🇳🇬.
My favourite thing about the armed forces is that they wake up sleeping soldiers with artillery blasts
Spent 30 years in the CAF. Retired a Sergeant, this video makes us look really good. It’s far from the truth. Our ships and fighters needed to be replaced 15 years ago. We had to borrow tanks and chinooks for Afghanistan. We sent open wheeled jeeps to a IED infested country. Do we still look good? Videos are a great commercial. Maybe we should tell the truth. Maybe Canadians would support the military all the time. Not just when they are needed.
I agree. We need to be better equipped and have a larger military budget. However there are very simple reasons why it is like it is today. You'd know that far better than I, however I see it improving big time. How long did the Oberons, Sea Kings and Voodoos linger? waaaayyy longer than 15 yrs past prime. (BTW, remember the US sent soft sided Hummers to Iraq. Just as bad when it comes to IED's)
I will also state that every single one of my family and friends are huge supporters of our military regardless of current affairs, I don't know any occasional supporters. Every one of us has some ties to the service. Some of us have lost loved ones.
Like I said, I totally get your point and defer to your first hand experience, but I do see it getting better, our wartime rep is solid and although small, we are far from weak. I also think the Ukrainian situation might serve as a wake up call as well.
Thank you for your career protecting the nation.
Should’ve mentioned JTF2 and the other special forces unit, can’t remember the name but weren’t they only revealed to exist in the past decade or something like that?

Good video🎥 👍💥💥💥
Great video, do you know if their Air Force utilize any form of UAS?

A good handful of things is incorrect about this video...
The budget is actually 23 billion, it hasn't been 15 since 2015.
It thought it’s supposed to be 23Bill over the next decade
@@johnjacob6705 yeah well its 22.8 billion USD at the moment. So around 28 billion CAD. Its supposed to go to 32 Billion CAD, so around 25-26 billion USD. It helps that the canadian dollar gained value
@@NBeaver-bx4yl okay thanks for clarifying
Wait so the Liberals are actually increasing the military budget, why does that sound hard to believe.
@@vothbetilia4862 suprising, but its indeed happening. They have planned an increase of 70%, it was 15 billions and right now has already gone up to 24
If I had it to do all over again, I’d definitely be careful which government is in charge when I joined. Trudeau would be a no-go.
Like he’ll ever step down
Are certain categories of these statistics of CAF equipment overstated (ig; Tanks, Multirole fighters).
Unlike what this video shows, we don't have any Aircraft Carriers, Super-Stallion Helicopters or Self-Propelled Artillery, but the rest of the kit shown is pretty accurate.
@@christopher9000p This video is a lazy work without any research and loaded with wrong figures and information. NO showings of LAV and the new TAPV, which are unique to Canadian army.
@@christopher9000p no its not lol the only way we could say we have 146 tanks, is if you include some or all of the mothballed leopard ones rusting away in gagetown and the few that are in edmonton. we also dont have over 100 fighters either. functional ones anyway.
@@Strawberryknight They showed the LAV's and TAPV's multiple times in this video
Canadian defence spending for 2020-21 is estimated at 23.3 billion.
doesnt feel like its gone up that much lol
might need to correct your numbers. we do not have that many tanks. at most there are 82 main battle tanks right now supported by ARVs and AEVs. other information is wrong as well
Wait. I thought Canadian Army had just two tank squadrons in active service. 82 tanks is 2 Regiments worth (almost). What is your source?
In these uncertain times, Canada really needs to seriously upgrade it's capability and machinery. 2% is the agreed military spend, Canada is at half of that, too dependant on others for it's defense commitments, shameful.
Man, im Canadian & nobody knows the true power of the Canadian army and 27 billion a year is a suggestion and could be alot more + wolverine & his brother were Canadian in those movies.

8 million available. Now thats a number

I'm glad we didn't buy .60? F-35's like it was originally planned [ seriously we could buy 150-200 Tornado's or any european fighter ] we're also in the process of replacing all our Halifax frigates with a dozen new destroyers of British design, much bigger in size around 7000 tons which is on par with most other countries dd's...unless it's Russian or Chinese. So for ..probably the first time in history, RCN will have ships that will be NEWER then US Navy [ they still gonna be using those Arleigh Burkes in 2030 ] and their firepower will be almost on par with even those old Ticonderoga cruisers minus no tomahawk cruise missiles.Their was talk about buying those French made amphibious assault ships the Mistral Class but nothing came of it [ RCN would love have even 2 of those, will make us more flexible and less dependant our allies for transportation ]. There was talk last century of having nuclear powered subs in the navy but that idea got shot down fast instead, we got old subs [ we really should replace them with newer diesel-powered subs there's some EXCELLENT European or even Japanese designs we can look at, probably all of them are well within our budget ].
Unified my #$&,
I know you guys ran out of ammunitions.

So, what happened to that retiring Austrailan fighter jets that Trudeau was buying to upgrade our military? That was quite a deal right? 🤣🤣
Would love to serve but this government is horrible and i won't bleed for it.
Your tank numbers are out to lunch, we have around 100 tanks, not 1000.
It really looks like the Canadian armed forces is really well equipped, Has great Manning too, this video could almost be a recruiting commercial.
Too bad it's way off from the truth.
Currently we are barely 30,000 reservists. A lot of the numbers mentioned are quite far fetched. We're also the worst Country in NATO for procurement of equipment, vehicles, ships, aircraft. Welcome to the CF hahaha
this guy is literally getting all the facts WRONG LOL I should know since im in the canadian military.

We canucks may be laid back, but those of us who have served from the cold war peacetime to recent may be too old to re-up..But I refer you to most wars... boys and grandfathers of all nations have defended their country when necessary!.. We keep up our skills, from full physical to range abilities, depending modern weapons are much easier to operate now and have MORE POWER !! RR RRR , especially now. with present situations developing globally... and since Alaska would most certainly be our allies.being cut off from the Mother-Ship even if they are Republicans we wont hold that against them we have something similar ... unfortunately I can't say more without being treasonous !! I'm curious as to your authority and reasoning for saying so much on a global forum. And who you 'clear it' with!?!?!?

1 % of GDP is 50% of our requirement for NATO . Nothing to be proud of Canada . As a Canadian tax payer I am absolutely disgusted at how we have tolerated the underfunding of our military. 2% of GDP is even far to low for a country with as large a land mass as Canada and such a low population density.
Its was 1.34, after this budget it goes to 1.5 which budget-wise doesn't include the 88 F35s nor the 15 hull Type 26 build out for the navy. Mostly includes upgrading Canada's portion of NORAD which needs to be done given hypersonic technology now. Suspect after this war there will be serious purchases of patrol and armed drones and air defense and anti-tank missile systems for the mechanized boys and manpad systems for SOR. Finally, a return of ADATS capability that should never have been given up with the cold war peace dividend.
