    Thanks! I love these tongs! I'll try to make a pair this week. If it doesn't go well, I'll be ordering a pair! 🙂
    One question: why do you use the guillotine to flatten just behind the bit? Is that to give more strength by widening in the dimension where it will be stressed (up and down)? Or is it cosmetic?

    • @gstongs
      @gstongs  Год назад +1

      Hi John, I flattened that area just to make a reference point for when forming the hoops. But in subsequent pairs, I flattened that spot 90 degrees differently than in this video since I found that thinning in that way allows me to more easily slide whatever stock I'm holding back towards the handles and into the hoops, if that makes sense... Thanks for watching.

  • @Solid_Punch
    @Solid_Punch Год назад +1

    You could widen the lips of this tongs and make it "flat" with square V in the middle, this way it will hold wider range of things. Also, if your V would be 60 degrees, not 90, it will better hold smaller stock sizes while still good with big stock.

  • @toddellner5283
    @toddellner5283 Год назад +1

    Got to admit I am disappointed in this video. A good part of the versatility of Brazeal's design is due to the very wide platelike jaws on one side. Making them the same size is in no way a fair and honest test of his design. You are better than this.

    • @1agates
      @1agates Год назад +2

      It's not meant to be an exact copy or validation of Brazeals design. It's meant to be his take on a similar product.

    • @gstongs
      @gstongs  Год назад +1

      Hi Todd, I don't mind your criticism and understand your perspective. But he used 1" and 3/4" square (a different size for each half) whereas I only used 1/2" round. However, for the second pair I did, I upset one half to get more material. Anyway, this was in no way a test of his tong since this tong is purely mine based off of a pic I saw, that's all. And my tong, to be honest, works very well. I made myself a pair and you may see it in use in my next video. Thanks and have a Happy New Year.

    • @gstongs
      @gstongs  Год назад

      Hi Andrew and thanks for your support. As you realize I was just making my take on a pic of a tong sent to me, that's all. And besides, my smaller version works very well so that's at least some proof that Brian's design is on point.

  • @frisbeephil
    @frisbeephil 8 месяцев назад +1

    The fact that your anvil bounces around is a bit of a joke. Like having too much play in your steering wheel or smudges on your glasses.
