Holy shit, I was literally just on my couch today thinking "I wonder what it'd be like to play minecraft if I had never read or seen any of the update stuff about the warden or caves and cliffs", insane coincidence
About what it feels like to go from legacy aquatic to most recent update. Last time I jumped on a server someone commented that my redstone was prehistoric
@@thenthson I feel you because I’m the same way, I still don’t know what “new” red stone is but the “prehistoric” stuff is all I know
The funny part is I play all these mod packs with fancy red stone wires and machinery and junk and yet I still do things weird apparently

@@FreddieTwenty I dunno, I play a lot of modded so that’s where the wires and junk I’m talking about is from but when I say my red stone is “old” red stone I mean I use methods from *before* carrots and potatoes existed and villagers couldn’t trade, I still see things like observers and timers as fancy stuff
I’m what some would consider a “legacy” player but not one of the primordial bastards who played Minecraft when it was named cave craft or whatever it’s original name was I just remember it was something with “cave” in the name
@@zyanidwarfare5634 yep. For ages I used a redstone inverter to change a daylight sensor into a night sensor. I remember a time when witches and wither skeletons didn't exist. Back then if you had fire resistance you were pretty much invincible in the nether

Like "MINECRAFT: THE NOOB ADVENTURES" or one thoes animations made by " Crazy Boris Productions " maybe even "minecraft for noobs"? To be honest only thing i remeber from that era were the minecraft being popular, Garry's Mod 12, madness combat, roblox, gmod and valve games also don't starve.

@@themooncow2644 The saw can turn blocks into stairs or slabs and such, for cheap.
@@themooncow2644 it’s the stonecutter. It lets you take any stone and skip right to the level of processing you want (excluding furnace cooking), so you can put in stone and get stone brick stairs in one step and also at a 1:1 cost, so cheaper for stairs. It also serves as a workstation to make villagers into stonemasons to trade with.

I can imagine what it would be like to just break through a regular stone block and end up seeing a 64-block deep cavern full of some kind of black stone type when you were just expecting bedrock or maybe a bit of lava.

I haven't played Minecraft in a long time. What is that blue thing? Very nice video btw.
The blue wiggly thing is a sound/vibration sensing red stone block called a sculk sensor. It sends remote signals a short distance. It’s sometimes near a whitish block with four spikes in the corners that shrieks if you step on it or if a sensor goes off nearby. If you set shriekers off more than twice in a 10 minute period, they summon the warden, that monster that kicked his ass. In reality, it kills you a LOT faster, even in fully enchanted, top tier armor, and that blast can travel through walls. The monster is intended to be a natural disaster to be avoided rather than something you fight. If you sneak out of the monster’s range after it’s spawned but before it gets enraged by your mere presence (or some other mob), after a minute, it will crawl back underground and despawn.
Basically, if you find that patches of that blackish block with speckles (sculk) avoid that area unless you’re okay with dying soon or until you’ve gotten good and being somewhere else after you trigger a shrieker.
By the way, the most effective tool for destroying sculk is a hoe. The most effective tool for destroying the warden is leaving and waiting for it to despawn.

@@The-Blue-Knight yes, it is. It can kill you with two hits unless you’re piled with regeneration and damage absorption effects (armor enchantments don’t work against it). It also has more hit points than the ender dragon and the wither. It’s intended to be something you avoid rather than something you fight, giving those areas of the game more of a survival horror vibe. There are ways to avoid it, like by sneaking or by placing blocks of wool on the ground to walk on surrounding the sensors/shriekers with wool before destroying them. It’s a lot better than destroying a shrieker, running away, doing something else for 10 minutes, coming back, destroying the next shrieker, etc.
There is a huge, loot filled structure called the ancient city which spawns deep underground and has lots of sculk in it. I just recently found my first one (they tend to spawn deep under mountains) and cleared all but one shrieker. No other mobs spawn in ancient cities, so they’re a great place to establish a base once you’ve cleared the shriekers (no shriekers means no warden). I accidentally summoned the warden twice, but I got far enough away that he despawned before he could sniff me out and kill me. Oh yeah, he can smell you, too. If you’re too close, sneaking or standing still isn’t enough. You have to sneak out of the area or sprint away when you hear the third shrieker, while he’s still emerging from the ground. If you try to “hide” too close, he’ll eventually find you, get enraged, and kill you. Make sure you stay a ways away when you go back to collect your gear, too, since he needs a full minute of not being pissed off ti despawn, so if you hear his noises, stay far enough away that you don’t hear him sniffing until hr despawns (you’ll still have 4 minutes to get your stuff), so it’s not the end of the world… unless you played hardcore.

Probably 70% of the game is locked behind obscure mechanics that are not explained in the game... imagine someone playing for the first time without Wiki knowledge and no Minecraft content creator influence.
Yeah, the game really needs good tutorials like the old legacy console edition had, even if they’re DLC. If you don’t know know to look stuff up, survival Minecraft is frustrating and not fun.

This is actually so goddamn true. Decided to play minecraft recently after stopping since 1.9 and BOY I have no clue what is going on.
Nothing like playing Minecraft on max volume, at 2am, caving, alone, and then seeing the faceless noise sensory monster rise out of the ground before shrieking at you and killing you in 2 hits with full Netherite to make you not want to sleep for 3 weeks
