Are there any achievements that are now the "last great barrier" of NES Tetris? Thanks for watching, let me know if I should do more retrospective videos going forwards! Also Correction: The date at 8:58 is incorrect, explanation in the description.
A 1.5 before 29 would be pretty damn impressive. Reaching the crash would be crazy, too. 10 million points is a nice round number. There are always more barriers, and we still aren't even close to most of them.
JD fully admitting that he didn't want to take the 1.4 with just a screenshot makes it even more legit feeling to me since he stood to garner that much fame in the community for the feat. But I also fully respect his and the communities decision to not make it the record.
This was so awesome. I couldn’t agree more that these kinds of videos are important for documenting the groundbreaking nature of current Tetris play. Please keep it up!
Would love to see more history videos, if you can find the time with all the new records and achievements coming in at a stupid pace :D I feel there's still a lot of stuff from the past to discuss, and some deeper dives like this one would be awesome!
Honestly thought you would talk about most points into killscreen. Always been an underrated topic since rolling has made it so pre 29 isn’t super necessary to score high. Even now it’s not really talked about. Though I do agree the 1.4 has been possibly the most hyped score achievement so far. It wasn’t a huge leap but still seemed so far away it took a new broken playstyle to conquer on video. As always, amazing video and can’t wait to see the next one!
Crash isn't a function of the score, it's the level. By level 240ish (note that some levels take 800 lines instead of 10), there's a chance that scoring points leads to undefined behavior when some async process takes hold of the instruction pointer. If you get only singles to this point it's around 15 million and not hundreds of millions
It's not a joke, it will happen within the next few years. I can see why you would think it's a joke if you think it's based on what's displayed on the score counter though lol. It happens after a couple hundred levels when the game stops being able to calculate the score and just crashes
I'm doing the math, and it seems like people advance 4 levels per minute after level 29. So, to reach that point would take about 1 hour and ten minutes? If that's the case, then yeah, I could see it happening.

I recommend you go through the Easter Island Tetris Incident of 2013.
Final boss barrier is 255 cycle yep
I'd love to see ~700k das transition on 18, ~700k with hyper-tap on 19, then finish out rolling. Das-Tap-Roll records

Glitched colors on NTSC, and eventually game crash!

They did, though. He just didn't hole it very long (and it was already surpassed in an unpublished video).
I appreciate his reasons for not posting his records, but, man...the first ever level 29 speed maxout...that's pretty momentous to keep to oneself!
it was live streamed, and everyone was too bothered to clip it knowing cheez wouldn't do it himself
@@allenbot I saw it. If any run deserves to be in the NES Tetris archives, it's that one. If it's too late, oh well, but still...
Cheez is an icon and I hope we never forget that he is the one who created this insane technique

Great video as always. Thanks for this!

Amazing content as always!
0:18 that graph shows the incredible leap (with rolling) at the end 🙃
I've never been recommended a video this early
HEY, can you give link to leaderboard at 10:43 ?
maxout.gg/ , I also added it to the description just in case others want the link as well.
Bruh im out of the top 25 :trollge:
Very interesting!
Held the wr behind for the bit. What a god
This man is insane and has the best mindset.
Now that someone has made it to alt colors, maybe the next goal could be 10 mil?
This man is litrally the Wirtual of Tetris.
Here before this video goes viral!
2:54 batfoy!!!!
cobalt your voice sounds kinda deeper
Cheez mentionned game crash multiple times, which is around ~100M. It's a joke but I'm seriously thinking he could achieve it one day.
