Great job! I think lots of us are trying to declutter before the holidays and, for me, I'm just tired of having random stuff that I don't use and don't need. It's just gotta go...
I just recently reorganised my linen cupboard, which is basically the only decent amount of storage space we have in our house. I'm so glad I did it cos now I can find exactly what I need as soon as I open the cupboard. Reorganising and decluttering are always the first two things that you should start with to refresh your space if you want to feel like it is feeling overwhelming or cramped.
Hello! Thanks for the great video. Let me give you some advice from someone who has lived in a tiny apartment for many years: In the closet with your coats and shoes, it is better to use something like a shelf, for hats hooks or small individual baskets are suitable. I do it this way: my daughter has one, my son has one, and my husband and I have one. You can add a shelf and put these baskets on the shelf. Have a nice day!
I really wish my husband thought the same way as you. I will get rid of things. I don’t do it often enough. He won’t throw anything away. My youngest daughter calls us hoarders. You can’t walk into our office. That is my fault. I bought some nightstands and haven’t put them together yet. I was hoping my husband would help. But he hates putting furniture together. So I guess I’ll be doing them. I’m going to clean out my closet soon. I need to pull everything out and get rid of some things. I usually give my granddaughters first choice on my clothes and shoes. I always buy way too much. And I don’t wear all of it. But I need to get my winter clothes in and my summer clothes out. I don’t have a coat closet or a linen closet. My towels are in our bathrooms. And I have most of my coats hanging on the back of our bedroom door. I want to get the office cleaned out. And put a clothes rack in there for all our coats and jackets.
Try setting a timer for 30 mins or even 1 hour each day & tackle the office one small section at a time! That should help to make it more manageable for you & you’ll feel so much better when it’s all done 🤗
My husband is a collector/hoarder. A few different events have helped get the ball rolling on him clearing stuff out. However I have been continually decluttering for 18 months. I committed to at least 1 day a week, doing at least something. I did insist that he help by taking the boxes to the charity shop for me each week. Some weeks he has let it go but I keep asking and eventually he does it. At first he wouldn't touch any of his own stuff, but now he's looking around for stuff that needs to go. I just kept talking about how good it was to get rid of all this stuff we've never used. He has adhd and sees potential in everything, so I'm amazed he's come this far. I think if you just start working on your own stuff, he will come around. Even if it's just a shelf or drawer a week, you will be amazed at the difference. I've been over some areas several times. It's actually best to go slowly so you're sure of your decisions. I also recommend watching as many decluttering videos as you can. I found myself pausing in the middle of one and just stood up and started decluttering a drawer before I even knew what I was doing! I'm even considering some professional help with our business stuff, because I'm just swamped and need to catch up. Maybe your daughter could sit with you as you do some, if you feel that would be helpful. It can be overwhelming when you're the only one paying attention to it, but you will get there. I'm not sure how much more we have to go, but we're well on the way to a manageable amount of stuff.
Yes on the declutterring…especially with the change of seasons. I’m pretty much done. I’m pretty minimal so it wasn’t hard and I do stay on top of it. 😊
Hi Megan! Decluttering...one room leads to another, I agree. I have learned to take breaks so I don't get overwhelmed, same with gardening...walk away for a few minutes, regroup and carry on. The end result is always SO worth it. Happy Halloween!!!
It takes me round after round to declutter. I feel guilty and the maybe I can use it later thoughts. Our house is just over 1,200 sq ft. We do have a garage and attic but honestly it’s just spaces to keep more stuff. It’s organized, just not necessarily needed. Thanks for the motivation to try again!!❤
If we ever move out of this house we will definitely need a garage! I tell my husband all of the time that it would be the most organized garage ever…but he doesn’t believe me 🤣
Great video, Megan. I love these videos. I remember all of the videos of you decluttering and organizing your linen closet. I feel guilty when I buy things and never use them. It happens. No one is perfect. Have a great Halloween 🎃
There have been so many linen closet organization videos through the years lol. It’s an awkward closet, very deep & narrow, took too long to figure out how best to organize it. 😵💫 Happy Halloween! 🎃
Great video! It's definitely the hardest for me to declutter decor, especially seasonal decor. Have you considered decluttering your seasonal decor, too? It really piles up which I personally don't like considering the short period of time it is displayed. Mostly Halloween and Christmas. I also have a small home, so I get it! I don't have a storage shed, though. Just remember that it's amazing that you've freed up some space, but that doesn't mean that those spaces need to get filled up again. For a lot of my stuff, I use the one in-one out rule.
Your closet was still pleasing to the eye after you cleaned it. 😊 and that’s a great suggestion that you mentioned for the animal shelters you’ve said. It’s funny when l declutterring I’m like wait I had this and so glad bc then I could use the items too. Hope you have a great week! And the girls have a happy Halloween tomorrow ! 👻🎃💜
Ahh..Megan, good video! I sure need to declutter my linen closet! But it's so hard for me to do it. I'm not very stable standing up & then go up & down taking things out of the closet it would be hard. I can't let my husband do it, he'd throw it all out! Ha! So sometime I'll tackle it! Great job! Thanks for sharing! ❤️😉🫂🍁🐾🕷🕸📓✏️👻🦇☠️🧙♀️🐈⬛🎃✨️
We are doing a remodel on our bedroom so had to take all the clothes out I decluttered 5 lawn bags full of clothes shoes and purses have a spooky Halloween sweet lady 🎃💞
After the holiday's I am doing a deep clean and deep declutter. If we don't love it, use it, need it or wear it then out it is going. I want our next home move to be easier and only move what we use and love. I put Halloween away today and went through it and got rid of some and I got out my Christmas stuff out and have 3 bags and a small box to donate I do want to donate that so people can enjoy it with the holiday's if they are looking for new things.
I used to wait to declutter until the new year, but it became less overwhelming when I decided to do it before the holidays. This way I know that we have room for all of the new stuff!
@@jodischoolcraft9188 We don't have kids so we don't have holiday new stuff really coming in. Plus I've had a lot of stressful things already this year
Hiiuuuge declutter here as just had the central heating system replaced...boiler radiators hot water tank....and obvs they needed access to it all......aaaaarrrrhgggghhhhh. So much stiff when you have to move it and furniture!
Who else is in full blown declutter mode before the holidays hit? If you’re not already, you definitely will be by the end of this video! 😆
I’m so proud of you for taking the tags off your storage bins! 😊
Lmao
A room always feels cleaner when it’s decluttered, I think 😊
Mine too!
Great video! I took three bags and a box of stuff that I have decluttered to the donation centre today. It feels so go to get rid of stuff.❤
It does! It’s a very freeing feeling
@lovinglifeasmegan it sure is.
Great job! I think lots of us are trying to declutter before the holidays and, for me, I'm just tired of having random stuff that I don't use and don't need. It's just gotta go...
I feel ya on being tired of having random stuff that I don’t need 😅
Seeing how nice and organized your coats closet is inspired me to go and get mine done. Thank you so much for sharing ❤
Yay! Two clean coat closets lol

That is exactly why I try to make decluttering a seasonal task on my to-do list 😊

Omg! I need those books ends
They are very pretty 😊
I can’t wait until you declutter Swayer’s room
I’ll do that with the toy purge, since she has a lot of toys in her room.
Great motivation video

Happy Halloween! 🎃
@ that’s great to do, I’ll have to mention that to my family for ours. And thank you!
I decluttered today and have them in my trunk to go Goodwill. Happy Halloween 🎃 everyone

Derek & I have the opposite problem lol. I love to declutter & he wants to hold on to everything! If I let him handle it we’d be hoarders for sure 😅
I love that green cabinet! Where's it from?
I found it at HomeSense over a year ago! I did link something in the same price range & similar style, but I’ve never seen that exact cabinet online.
We are doing a remodel on our bedroom so had to take all the clothes out I decluttered 5 lawn bags full of clothes shoes and purses have a spooky Halloween sweet lady 🎃💞
Woohoo! Great job! I’m going to be decluttering through my clothes this week
Can you put an organizer over the door for your bottled soaps and other bigger stuff?
No, that wouldn’t work for us.
Have you ever thought about putting another shed outside on that other slab of concrete, and making it a decor shed
I don’t want to put a shed on the concrete, but I do want to put another one right on the back of the one we already have!

Me with my 500+ books, 2k+ pieces of clothing, etc, laughing at myself for having so much crap ugh
If that doesn’t overwhelm you then it’s all good 😅 there’s no rule that says you have to get rid of things that make you happy
I think instead Of a basket for the shoes you should have a rack at the bottom.
A rack doesn’t fit in the way we need it to.

Update...I seen you remove tags from brown bins in your entryway lol
I just don’t think about it.
