I'm German and not really familiar with American muscle cars, but this must be the most beautiful car I've ever seen. Inside, outside, everything is just a piece of art. 👍🏼😉
Would I drive it? Oh yeah I’d drive it a lot within the first couple months of ownership. In 1970 I was 16 going on 17 and was working full time at a Mobil station in South Pasadena Ca. My Brother in Law found me a 1969 Mustang 428 Cobra Jet. air, p/s, decal delete with a 4 spd. 390 rear gear Highlander green with black vinyl interior. Being that age and having a car like that in 1970 was way to much fun, and a time I’ll never forget. I’ll always remember the day I received it pulling into my best friends driveway with his whole family in the front yard. The look on their faces was priceless. Ok take care, I love your show.
When I was a kid in grade school we would drive to Kentucky every summer to see grandparents. Our route from Kansas would take us through Poplar Bluff, Mo. I recall this Dodge dealer and seeing several new Charger Daytonas on his lot. They were definitely into the performance cars. Great memories!
I drove all my Mopar's hard, even wrecking a couple including my Orange '70 Challenger R/T, but that's what they were made for, driving not sitting in a rich man's collection.
I’m speechless! This F8 Green / Green console slapstik ‘70 Challenger Convertible is a clone of my very first ride, except for engine VIN! Paid $1,200 in 1979 San Francisco / Portola Drive, a few miles east of our family’s home in Midtown Terrace, Twin Peaks. My 318 ‘Vert was my daily driver throughout my College years at Chico State, those were the days, my friends!!!
Wow...a blast from the past. I never got to drive this car - but I did get to ride in it. The back story is not 100% accurate. My Dad bought this car and put the engine in his boat - a Red Rayson Craft inboard that was well known at Angostura Reservoir (60 miles south of Rapid City). As I recall the engine was in the boat for 2 summers with mixed results (blown head gaskets) - maybe because of the previous street racing LOL. I think he sold or traded it to a local engine builder - not sure how it ended up in Denver. The next boat engine was a "new" 409 chevy longblock that he found at the Deadwood Chevy dealer. In hindsight it is hard to believe you would buy this car and take the engine out for a fast boat, but it was pretty common at the time. Then again, people used to put 4 cam Porsche Carrera engines in VW Bugs. If anyone knows who currently owns this car please reach out to me. I have some of the "original" engine parts that came off it before it went in the boat.
Of course I would love to drive nice summer days and have in the snow, there's nothing like driving a convertible in the winter with the top down in Minnesota!!!! On good weather days 😇!!!2022
Looks like it hesitated at the end when he stepped on it. My 69 383 Roadrunner used to do that. I think the carb may need larger jets. Also the Challenger had a 2 inch longer wheelbase than the Barracuda.
It's a car. DRIVE IT! Just be caucious with it and wake up extra early on sunday mornings before the crack of dawn to drive it when the road is empty all to yourself.
They only built 13 HEMI Cudas in '70, with a convertible top and a 4 speed. In my mind, the Cuda was the nicer car. Its because nobody could afford them then, and they are desirable now. They were $4300 or so out of the factory then. Imagine if we had a peek into the future, and 50k to spend back then. These cars are worth millions now, numbers matching.
I’ve owned both model E Body Verts, four ‘70 Challengers, one ‘70 barracuda, one ‘71 barracuda. Only bought the barracudas because of investment resale cool indeed but always thought the profile rear quarter kick up line on the Challenger was pure DODGE originality, as opposed to plain barracuda profile; nice but a little generic Camaro-like
Id drive it every chance I got and beat it like it owed me money! Why, because I know it could take it and beg for more. Awesome ride right down to the color.
Odd that it has the standard steering wheel, but I've seen oddities myself. I had an all original bought from the original owner 70' Challenger R/T 440 magnum hard top. The car was stripe delete with the same side moulding as the car in your video, and it had 6-way leather seat with an automatic on the coulomb with a rim blow wheel.. It was ordered like that. Felt weird to have bucket seats and no console.
If its not driven then why bother with it ? A replica can fill that role , a phony , why not make make a thousand of them ? Its very nice and very rare and the fact that its engine left it , went for a boat ride then was found and returned is simply incredible So drive it a couple of times a year , when its nice out and stay away from the millennials on their cell phones so it doesn't get T- boned Yeah right ! That things a trailer queen forever
Numbers matching cars are great but irreplaceable. If you have a shit ton of cash that allows you to own one good for you But I for one don't so my SS 71 Elcamino is a true SS Non Numbers matching LS7 XCH 454. I plan on driving the hell out of it
I used to have a 1968 Mercury Cyclone GT 500 that I used as my daily driver. I had to sell it when my wife had a stroke. They made quite a bit of the GT’s but very few GT 500’s with the crossed flags on the rear Quarters. I’ve seen 1 other and it was at a car show. If I can’t drive it, it’s just furniture.
Would I drive it? Well it depends. The ridiculously high price commanded by these rarities precludes much road use, but on the other hand it is just a car that makes you want to drive it as much as you can. I'm a pragmatist, all I really see is a rattly, loud chassis bouncing, bad handling and stopping old Chrysler with an overweight engine that makes most of its power over 4500rpm. If one applies my perfunctory pragmatism to sex then the human race would've ceased to exist hundreds of years ago. The biggest sex organ in the body is the brain...
Your channel is the best for muscle car reviews by far! The facts, the stories, background, photography are unmatched. Look forward to each episode!

Gosh that's a beauty and a great story! Green on green works on that one! Ford and Mopar made so many great looking cars in 1970 and convertibles!

Just a Beautiful car, I'd drive it all the time. A girl magnet.
Great video!

Great video! That car was made to enjoy. What's the fun in owning it if you can't drive it!
Of course I would drive it! No point in owning art if you don't enjoy it :-)
That... is a GORGEOUS car.
I would be an idiot if i didnt drive my dream car the classic challenger

Ohhh yes!! i want to drive it..
When you gonna do a video of de 70 charger!!!!!
I thought Hemi cars had the Dana rearend in them. This one looked to have the 8 3/4
Greg Leach only the 4 speeds. Autos standard with 8-3/4
Belíssimo automóvel. Belíssimo programa
I would not drive it. I just sit and stare at it
It would be hard for me to own a beauty like this without driving it. I say drive it sparingly, weekend cruises, etc.
Very cool
beautiful challenger i would use it as a daily driver
Is that tan molding down the entire body side a factory option or aftermarket? I've never seen one like that from the factory. Anyone know?
Amazing story! What are the chances of the original engine being reunited in such a rare, low production car.
Looks like it hesitated at the end when he stepped on it. My 69 383 Roadrunner used to do that. I think the carb may need larger jets. Also the Challenger had a 2 inch longer wheelbase than the Barracuda.
+matrox Nah, I think he got off the gas so as to not shred the tires in 1st.
It's a car. DRIVE IT! Just be caucious with it and wake up extra early on sunday mornings before the crack of dawn to drive it when the road is empty all to yourself.
🥰🥰👏👏👏
Any restoration that uses base clear, color sanded and buffed with tighter body gaps as this one is over restored!
Please rap the car up and deliver it to me in Florida . I promise it will never see the rain and it does not snow here at all
How about a video of the 1966 Nova RPO l79? Thanks, Tom
Drive alittle and keep it away from haters..
I dunno... toss me the keys

God that yellow body side molding absolutely god-awful what were they thinking when they ordered this car ?!
Clock broken?
Hell ya

I would drive it in MONACO, BECAUSE THAT'S WHERE IT BELONGS.
Its almost perfect if it was a cuda it would be perfect
I'd drive it alot
I would drive it, a little bit fast, but only to car shows!
Numbers matching cars are great but irreplaceable. If you have a shit ton of cash that allows you to own one good for you But I for one don't so my SS 71 Elcamino is a true SS Non Numbers matching LS7 XCH 454. I plan on driving the hell out of it
I would drive it but with the top down.
The convertible top on those when up look horrible.
That car was never that straight and shiny new. It is over restored!
I wouldn't buy a car I'm not going to drive. lol
bin it. The clock isn't working
I would cruise it on missqucomit beach in Rhode Island past the westerly cops

And yeah.... built to smoke tires.... or would be driven...
