Brings back memories of my 400 kawasaki triple. Drove it to California from Wisconsin and back with not one problem. My brother said I stunk like oil and exhaust when I got there but it smelled more like cologne to me.
I had a buddy who owned an H-1 back in the day. I used to ride it a lot. What I remember most about it was its incredible acceleration and the fact that it was really hard to keep the front wheel on the ground. A wheelie machine!
Had an H2 back in the 70's, my friends dad had a water buffalo. Also raced a CR500 in the 80's, good stuff. Also had a few scary snowmobiles, those were really fast. Nothing like a 1000cc triple two stroke!
I love 2 stroke bikes. I had a 76 Kawasaki 400KH 2 stroke triple. I sure wish I still had that bike. I could never keep the front wheels on the ground. Used to get many tickets when I'd leave the cops' Harley's at a red light in a cloud of blue smoke. I always did wheelies off the line at a red light.
I've got chills, that is music to my ears! My first moto memories were my neighbors H1 with Denko's. My scariest moto memory was when my own H1, which was tweaked to the high end, seized the center cylinder when I shut down throttle after blitzing through the gears. After I pulled in the clutch it tank slapped for a bit, then somewhere around 70 mph it finally stabilized. Just before I stopped I popped the clutch, rode it home and sold it to my old neighbor, the one whose H1 was my first bike memories. The circle of life!
Absolutely loved it. My older brother (by 6yrs) joined the Navy in 1972 right after high school. His first year, month long leave in 73 he rode home to Nor-Cal on a brand new 1973 "H1 Mach 4 Kawasaki 500". I almost died! I'm the bike nut, not him! He knew that and teased me, saying he "almost got me a new Kawi 350 triple when he bought his 500 but since I was only 13, mom & dad woulda said no! ".... Jerk! But he "had to leave the 500 home" cause his first tour of duty was in Hawaii, & "don't touch his G..damn bike!" Sooo ,, he told me 3 yrs later he knew I'd sneak it away when the folks weren't looking and have fun! Love that guy! Which is exactly what I did, of course, always worried as hell! Many many adventures and memories. Thanks guys for the videos, I'll subscribe right now! 👍😁 P. S. I knew a fellow who built and raced a record breaking H2 drag bike. He was a very innovative builder, and was well connected and respected in H2 race circles. Some of the biggest names in H2 racing today knew him well. When most racers were simply sending their engines to the master, Paul Gast, he did almost all of his own porting, tuning, fabricating etc. He was quite possibly the very first racer to put nitrous on an H2. He told me that he was, and to this day I have no reason to doubt it. Later he solved the fragile transmission issue that plagues all H2 drag racers, and mated a Z1 900 transmission to his bike. This was an incredible feat of engineering, design and fabrication. He was a master welder, machinist and fabricator, and did everything himself. It looked great, and worked flawlessly for many seasons. To this day, I haven't seen another H2 with such a modification. He told me it made 200 HP, and weighed a mere 200 pounds. He was super meticulous about shaving weight, and said this was very important for an H2, since they were so limited on displacement. His 60-foot times were some of the best, and he painstakingly kept up with this and sought to improve upon it. He said his bike was always stock bore too - 748cc. In the early 90s he rode it to a record breaking 8th mile pass in 5.18 seconds. It was a perfect, beautiful pass. I was there, and was blown away by the spectacle. I never forgot it either. To this day I can still watch that pass play out in my mind, and remember every detail. I was near the finish line, and his front wheel was an inch of the ground when he went by. He offered to sell me the bike for $3000.00 when he quit racing, without the nitrous, which he concluded was worth a few extra thousand for the innovative, one of a kind "tricks" that he had perfected and which made it the quickest in the world. I had grown up on Triples, but I wouldn't have ridden that beast with the nitrous anyway. I was a starving young husband and soon-to-be father with a hefty mortgage though, and had all the other bills that came with starting a family. I now wish I had done it anyway, and could donate it to the Barber's Museum so others could appreciate it. I changed jobs about that time and had to travel a lot. Then all the pressures of raising kids etc hit. My priorities changed because of this. We both moved during that period too, and I lost touch with him, but I often think of him and wonder what became of that very special bike. 1972, I was 14 years old, and I bought a brand new H1 and boy was it fast, it was my 5th motorcycle, novice riders need not apply, they weren't called widowmakers for nothing, what's really amazing is that these bikes only had 7 moving parts, 3 pistons, 3 connecting rods, and 1 crankshaft. 🇺🇸👍
never road a motorcycle or owned one, but i do love that sound a lot from 2 strokes its so cool ive always wanted a 2 stroke suzuki jimny from japan love watching the few offroad videos of those little jeeps sounds so sick
Tub of hockey. Not everyone can say that unless... I bought one brand new! New 750 Kawasaki. Drove it 60 miles home and the middle carburetor fell off. First months fork seals started leaking. Above 80 mph death wobble! You just don’t expect that. I couldn’t get rid of the thing fast enough! Traded for a Yamaha 360 enduro . Much better built. Yep I still call it a tub of hockey!
love these old 2 strokes , sorry I ever sold my Walter wolf Rg 250 years ago but still kept my other 2 oldies 86 gsxr 750 & 93 fireblade , cheers from Ireland , great video & very professionally done
I had a 1969 H1, and a 1972 H 2. The H1 500cc had practically no torque, but at 5600 rpm you better hang on. The 1972 750 was a lot easier to ride because of more torque. The late great Dave Schultz pioneered the two stroke Pro Stock Kawasaki’s. I remember him running 8,40s in a quarter. WOW. The hardest thing in these bikes was trying to keep the transmission together. He was a great person.
Remember in 1975 Kenny Roberts and a few others, but Kenny had more success. Took the Yamaha TZ750, a water cooled two stroke, out of his GP road race bike and into a flat track bike for the mile flat track. It was so fast it was banned after one season. Kenny could ride anything, but Kenny said, " They dont pay me enough to ride that thing! " Good reading to look that up.

I started on a 50 Benneli mini cycle 2 stroke then a90 Bridgestone then a175 Bridgestone hurricanes scrambler then a 360 Yamaha rt3 bought new in 73. Still riding the Yamaha and a Triumph 900 thunder bird sport and a Kawasaki 600 kit. I wish I had gotten the 350 Bridgestone as well. My friend left school on his 500 Kawasaki triple and allways did a great wheelie!
I remember back in the early seventies a guy by the name of Bob Carpenter campaigned a 2-stroke 750 Kawasaki. It was green and it was a beast. I don't remember what class is raced in but it was dominating.
I remember the Kawasaki 3cyl 2 stroke street cycles. A widow maker to the foolish, and a neighbor had a Yamaha RS (350cc) prior to the 400cc RD series 2 strokes.
Joe Kurtz rI re bet my friend just got a500 cc three cylinder. We were at TV He bar drinking and someone tightened the trees down, when he took off like a streak he hit a car within 100 ft going over 60, he suvived, the bike did not. So he bought a new one with the insurance money.
I had an s3 400 w chrome expansion chambers in '79 my first street bike I miss it. I also built a KH 400 from 3 boxes of parts some gave me. Lots of fun.
I actually like two strokes very much. The sound, the smell the nostagalia.Born in the era when two strokes were very prevalent. All my mates had them.FS1E's everywhere.Hi again from the uk.
6th grade, circa '76. Neighbor had a '72 Lime Green H2. I was never late for school, it was my 7:30 wake-up call EVERY weekday morning as he fired it up to head to work. This thing was as sinister as I thought a bike should be, snarly and nasty with the expansion chambers on it. I remember it being stretched a bit and all he did on the weekend was bolt on the wheelie bar's and head over to "Phenix City Dragway". The good ole' days...
Charles... you can get them few in the U.S. Big $$$$ UK has them $$$$ plus shipping cost and Japan Best Price but Shipping $$$ ... 69-72 are like Gold I bought mine in the mid 90's ... Good Luck
Yes... ✅ Like Gold I did as well buy in the 80's and About $5000 extra OEM Parts... I Bought a OEM 1971 Seat New in Box from Old Kawasaki Dealer out of Michigan Big $$$ but it is the Only one left in the World Still in Box
In tenth grade back in 1971 at the ten-minute break they made ten-second 1/4-mile's on the strip in front of John Glenn high school with these bikes launching into space! 4 lanes and a middle turn lane was ideal for drag races and no fancy stabilizer bars in back it was Wheelie City. I can still see the smoke rising above from burning off the rubber for traction and the fierce noise, it all came together. Cops were always there, but never on time!
CycleDrag the green Kawi 2stroke "tripple" is my absolute favorite and dream bike! I’m riding the H2R and this bike would be just perfect in my garage! What is your favorite bike buddy?
I have a 63ccm 2 stroke with 12hp at the wheel mated to a 3spd manual Transmission. All in a moped frame from 1971. We have 100m drag races over here in Germany racing these mopeds against each other... Its the most fun ever... And you can litteraly build an engine for less than 700€
1984 at Ft Riley, KS I bought a Kawasaki H2 750 from one of my soldiers for $100.00. About $350.00 later it was a nice and very fast motorcycle. New tires, 3 sets of new piston rings , 3 new exhaust pipe baffles, new chrome headlight bucket bezel, new battery, reupholstered seat, new paint on fenders and fuel tank, and new 2 stroke oil pump. Rode the bike all summer and then sold it for $500.00 just before I had to leave to go to school at Ft Lee, VA before being station in Europe.
I used to have a '69 T500, a 71 GT550, a '73 GT550(which I found in a boneyard laying on its side in a puddle of water and got it for 50 bucks for parts), and a '74 GT550.... in the end all the 550's ran well, but I never got the T500 going, but on a brighter note I did learn how to build a set the timing on the points very well! I miss those bikes!
I had a S2 350 about 20 years ago. I loved that little thing. Should've hung onto it. Hell, should have bought every triple I tripped over, every brit bike, cheap Ducati single and stuck 'en all in a shed to triple in value. Oh well, next life I'll be wiser.

For the person filming-----great job showing the times!! So many just show the bikes flying away into the distance
never road a motorcycle or owned one, but i do love that sound a lot from 2 strokes its so cool ive always wanted a 2 stroke suzuki jimny from japan love watching the few offroad videos of those little jeeps sounds so sick
That GT750 sounds so freaking good. Brings back memories of my Dads.
My first 2 stroke was a Yamaha RD400!
Nothing like a 2 stroke!
Thanks for the videos and the memory jog!
My first street bike....I miss it....from Wyoming USA 🔫🤠🇺🇸p.s stay safe and healthy everybody GOD BLESS OUR COUNTRY
I miss my Kawasaki triple tree. It's great watching them race 👍
Really alot of fun! Love the Dragster bikes, that 500 was nice! The triples are awesome!
I had a '72 H2 and what I remember most was how the grips felt because when I got that thing wound up I had to just hang on!
Back in 1968 1972 900 Kawasaki was the stock Bike to beat. Not many came up winners.
Those were the days.
🚲🚵🚴
I had a 1969 H1, and a 1972 H 2. The H1 500cc had practically no torque, but at 5600 rpm you better hang on. The 1972 750 was a lot easier to ride because of more torque. The late great Dave Schultz pioneered the two stroke Pro Stock Kawasaki’s. I remember him running 8,40s in a quarter. WOW. The hardest thing in these bikes was trying to keep the transmission together. He was a great person.
I have a 75 H1 and an H2 project bike. Great video!
Sweet...from Wyoming USA 🔫🤠🇺🇸p.s stay safe
13:00 bless the Mom & Dad. Best ever thing in the world.
" Good reading to look that up.
much respect cycledrag and all the racers and crews
I agree. Which bike is your favorite?
10 sec ... that’s incredible
My first Street bike H1 500, then 1972 H2 750, Denco Chambers ,34mm lectrons , ported and polish. Sweet memories. Water buffalo, lol
Wonderful. Thanks for all this mate!

Awesome!
I remember sitting on the gas tank with my dad riding wheelies on a two stroke at a young age as well!
DME EMD ‘fuel tank’
Speedwelltuning I say both
Speedwelltuning Ok
What a memory to have
I started on a 50 Benneli mini cycle 2 stroke then a90 Bridgestone then a175 Bridgestone hurricanes scrambler then a 360 Yamaha rt3 bought new in 73.
Real man bike.lovely sounds
I remember the Kawasaki 3cyl 2 stroke street cycles. A widow maker to the foolish, and a neighbor had a Yamaha RS (350cc) prior to the 400cc RD series 2 strokes.
Joe Kurtz they were scary.
Joe Kurtz rI re bet my friend just got a500 cc three cylinder. We were at TV
He bar drinking and someone tightened the trees down, when he took off like a streak he hit a car within 100 ft going over 60, he suvived, the bike did not. So he bought a new one with the insurance money.
I love the smell of 2 stroke in the morning !!
Love the smell of two stroke in the morning smell like making power !
I had an s3 400 w chrome expansion chambers in '79 my first street bike I miss it. I also built a KH 400 from 3 boxes of parts some gave me. Lots of fun.
Wow i love two stroke bike watching from europe
Very cool bikes! That orange H2 is a beauty!
Love the 2 Stokes... I have 4 H1's 69,71,71,71 💥💥💥💥
Mike Carmean, where do I find one of those H-1, 2 Kawasaki's????
Charles... you can get them few in the U.S.
Beautiful machines!
Thanks for the upload guys 🤜🤛
You got it! Which bike is your fav?
CycleDrag the green Kawi 2stroke "tripple" is my absolute favorite and dream bike!
I’m riding the H2R and this bike would be just perfect in my garage!
What is your favorite bike buddy?
I have a 63ccm 2 stroke with 12hp at the wheel mated to a 3spd manual Transmission. All in a moped frame from 1971. We have 100m drag races over here in Germany racing these mopeds against each other... Its the most fun ever... And you can litteraly build an engine for less than 700€
I've always had a fantasy of putting an outboard boat engine into a bike. Yamaha used to make a 500 hp V-8.
Brings back some great memories
It's not too late! The S-series triples are still pretty reasonably priced. Cheaper than going to the dealership and getting a new sewing machine 650.
Great flash from the past 👍👍👍💕
